Hello friends!
There are many things to do around Colonial Beach - from enjoying the beach itself to wineries, historic sites, State Parks and a brand new tiki barge (with Albert as one of the Captains). We hope you enjoy your time in CB.
With Love, Albert & Veronica
George Washington’s Birthplace gives a unique look into what growing up was like for our nation’s first President. Washington’s childhood home and estate has been restored to its proper glory, replete with a living colonial farm that features livestock and tobacco as well as actors/historians that let you interactively participate in their daily chores of everything from cooking to smithing. Ranger talks are also offered on the hour from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free to this national park site.
Ingleside is a beautiul winery that produces over 18 types of wine from its estate-grown grapes. Their property is beautiful, with outdoor seating in a couryard setting. Check their website, as they often have events or food vendors at their winery.
Stratford Hall offers guided tours inside the historic 18th century building that served as a home for two signers of the Declaration of Independence and General Robert E. Lee. Stratford Hall also has a gift shop, a dining room with lunch and dinner options, a historic library, nature trails and gardens overlooking the Potomac River and a beach that is great for picnics.
Easily one of Virginia’s finest parks, Westmoreland State Park offers many activities, including: an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a fishing pier, playground and 6 miles of trails. Fossil collectors enjoy hunting for ancient shark teeth along the Potomac. Birding enthusiasts find the park an excellent site for spotting American bald eagles, ospreys, kingfishers, great blue herons, common terns, green herons and gulls, as well as wintering waterfowl.
Find a beach and just enjoy, or get out on the water! Three beaches are along the Potomac River on Irving Avenue. The first and last ones have paid parking options.

New this spring in Colonial Beach! You'll definitely want to book in advance, as they only have 6 guests on each 2-hour cruise. You're welcome to bring your own cooler full of your favorite beverages (try Food Lion or Circa 1892 for beer or wine options) or nibbles for your cruise.
Colonial Beach has a few boutiques, as well as second hand shops and a peddler's market. A few are close together on Hawthorn Street and others are scattered around town.
Pet lovers will adore this boutique, on Hawthorn Street next to other boutiques and one of our favorite lunch spots (Circa 1892).
Our friend's hair salon added a cute boutique in the front - with clothing, home goods, jewelry, and lots of cute (and sometimes edible) stuff. And here you may find a unique CB souviner as well. You will enjoy.
Chech out this shop as you stroll the Boardwalk. Here's where you can get a CB souvenir or something you may need for a trek to the beach.
This adorable boutique carries clothing, things for the home, and more. You might even find a unique CB souvenir. Either way, you'll enjoy checking out this shop - on Hawthorn with other boutiques, a second-hand store, and one of our favorite lunch spots (Circa 1892).
Several booths with all kinds of vintage finds, as well as some fresh or special treats (think candles, jams, etc.).
A fairly new wine and cheese shop that was quick to become one of our favorites! They offer gourmet sandwiches, soups, specialty salads and a selection of wines starting at 11am. They also sell bottles of wine and beer, and a very cute gift shop with lots of tasty and other treats. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and are next to a few boutiques and walking distance to the city boardwalk and beach.
If you're in town Friday, go for coffee and morning treats. Indoor and outdoor seating. They are closed on weekends.
They will be moving to a new location before the wedding, so check their new address before heading there.
Well, this place is dear to us. On October 11, 2020 we met at the Dockside. Albert ran this restaurant back in the late 80's - early 90's. He would say it has grown leaps and bounds since then. It's now a beach-y themed waterfront restaurant and bar - with outside tables in the sand, a few different bars, and even a tiny beach to go put your toes in the sand. Breakfast, lunch and dinner most days.
Enjoy tasty (and hearty) breakfast, lunch or dinner here. Not all sausages, you'll find burgers and seafood sandwiches, along with tater tots that feed a crowd (seriously, an order is not for one person)! Usually open at 8am. This adjoins Ice House Brewery and is the food service for the brewery.
A fun place to hang. Enjoy craft brews, wine, and food from Eugene's (the "kitchen"). This is the cutest historical waterfront property with open doors when the weather cooperates, and outdoor picnic tables available.
Find this cozy coffee shop inside Tide's Inn Market. Enjoy coffee, tea, and light snacks sitting indoors or go outdoors and watch all the golf carts pass by. Open Friday - Sunday 8am - 2pm.
Albert's favorite down home diner, where he often eats lunch with the marina boys. If you're looking for a hangover cure or just in the mood for a good 'ole diner breakfast, this is the place. Open for breakfast and lunch, 6am - 3pm daily.
Colonial Beach has a long history with French Thai restaurants, thanks to Laos-born restaurant owners who have embraced Colonial Beach (and they are beloved by us as well). Formerly Oom Boon down the street and now Sunflower, they have Thai, French, great daily specials, and sushi. Yes, sushi as good as we can get up in Alexandria! Lunch from 11am-3pm Thursday - Sunday (and dinner too, but you'll be with us then)!
