We recommend you book your trip to Italy by March, 2024. Please let us know when you plan to arrive so we know when you're in town. A What's App group will be created to keep in touch while in Italy.
Some guests want a bit more time in Reggio - and that's OK! We are so happy to have you celebrate with us on our special day. Should you choose to have a longer stay, we suggest arriving in Reggio by Tuesday, July 30 and departing no sooner than Monday, August 5. If your travel plans cannot accommodate these days don't stress, we are so thankful you made the trip and we will have a great time. Please check back on the website regularly for updates on what we have planned.
Transportation
Air travel: You can fly directly Reggio di Calabria (REG) "Tito Minniti" airport, also known as Aeroporto dello Stretto, or to Lamezia Terme International (SUF) Airport, located 1h20m from Reggio.
Flying to Reggio di Calabria (REG) airport we can pre-book a taxi to your accommodations. Depending on the day and time you arrive we may be able to pick you up.
Flying to Lamezia Terme International (SUF) airport you can take the bus to the train station and get to Reggio from there. You can also rent a car but will need to book that as soon as possible. Please do not wait to book a car if you plan to fly to Lamezia and drive.
Travel Documents
A valid passport (expiry date should not be within 6 months of arrival) is required to visit Italy. You can read more about entry requirements (for Canadians) here.
Accommodations
If you intend to stay at the wedding venue, please make sure you book the room at Altafiumara Resort and Spa by March 2024. If you do not plan to stay here for your full trip, we recommend booking at least the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding (August 2, 2024).
Book your room from the hotel directly to save €20 per night! It is best to e-mail the resort directly. You can e-mail in English, ,they will answer you back in English, answer any questions you may have, and give you options and our rates!

Packing Tips
Take out cash in Euros before arriving. Italy is a part of the European Union and it's currency is the Euro. cash is still widely used in Italy! You can check the exchange rate here.
A Visa or Mastercard is recommended when using card, please make sure you have one with you. Do not rely on Interac (debit) unless you have the right card, or American Express credit cards. Even international compatible debit cards have their limitations when travelling outside of Canada. It is also a good idea to notify your bank or credit card company when you will be travelling.
A power converter will be needed to power up devices or beauty tools etc... The most common wall sockets in Italy are the EU standard plug type C, F but you may also find type L.
Pack light, breathable, moisture wicking clothes. It will be hot.
Keep some free space in your suitcase for souvenirs.
Local Customs
When attending an Italian wedding as a guest, steer clear of wearing a white dress, as it is reserved for the bride. Additionally, avoid overly casual attire, as Italian weddings are typically formal affairs where guests are expected to dress their best.
Don't order a cappuccino after noon!
Tipping in Italy is neither mandatory nor expected. It is completely acceptable to pay the bill amount and leave! If you decide to tip, that is your choice of course!!
