Founded in 1937, ArtCenter Manatee is located in downtown Bradenton at the intersection of arts and culture. ArtCenter Manatee is the premier center for art, art education and unique gifts in Manatee County. The nearly 10,000 sq. ft. building in downtown Bradenton features three galleries with exhibits that change monthly, five classrooms that hold over 3,000 students every year, an Artists’ Market gift shop and an art library featuring over 3,000 art volumes. ArtCenter Manatee has repeatedly been voted the best art gallery by the Herald Tribune and Bradenton Herald.
This historic site is tucked away in a neighborhood in east Bradenton is well worth the visit. It hosts fascinating interpretations of the early free Black settlement of Angola, archaeological site and Civil War occupation of theSam G. Curry House by the US Colored Troops. There are historic 3 houses once owned by early white settlers to explore and ongoing activities like tours, book talks, lectures, and living history events.
