Travel Requirements

Passports are required for all US citizens traveling to Mexico. It is recommended that you renew your passport if it expires prior to April 2024. The current processing times for new/renew passports is 11 weeks! If you need to apply for a passport or have a passport re-issued, the link below provides more information and can help you get started!

It is also recommended to verify the condition of your passport at this time. If there are any tears or watermarks on your passport, you could be denied boarding. You will also need one empty page in your passport for the Immigration Department to stamp.

If you are not a US citizen, you will need to verify with your local Mexican Consulate office requirements to travel to Mexico.

International Travel for Children:

Unless a child is accompanied by both parents, the adult traveling with the child must have a notarized statement from the child’s absent parent(s) stating "I acknowledge that my wife/husband/etc. is traveling out of the country with my son/daughter. He/She/They has/have my permission to do so." If asked to present this document, and you do not have it, you may be detained until the circumstances of the child traveling without both parents can be fully assessed. If there is no second parent with legal claims to the child (deceased, sole custody, etc.) any other relevant paperwork, such as a court decision, birth certificate naming only one parent, death certificate, etc., would be useful.
