After spending over nine years getting to know you, I reflect on the unexpected turns and challenges shaping our love story. Today, we are stronger and more resilient than ever; we are true champions of love and perseverance. Because of you, I have seen and can feel myself becoming a better version of myself –With you, I've discovered depths of patience and resilience I never knew I had.

By your side, I know that I can do hard things. This year has been a testament to that. You have remained a steady and supportive presence, especially during my recent accident. It has not been easy for either of us. Quite honestly, I don’t know what I would have done without your support these past few months. You have picked me up when I have fallen, literally. You've shown me kindness and compassion without measure, and not just because I'm your person, but because you are inherently kind and compassionate. You are my comfort and true counterpart, you bring me the peace and emotional security that any girl could ever dream of.

Thank you for embracing my quirks, laughing at my random silly jokes, and letting me convince you to get our adorable little dog, Bowie who is obsessed with you. Thank you for loving me just as I am—flaws, passions, quirks, and all.

I feel overwhelmingly happy and proud to be standing before you today. We'll stumble and falter together but find our way back to each other as we always have. We'll continue to learn and grow with every mistake, our love evolving into something more beautiful and true. And for all that and more, I make the most sincere promise that one heart can make to another:

When we met over 10 years ago, I knew right away you saw the world a little differently. Through your photography, your love of music, from growing up here in Guatemala, or your goofy sense of humor. You’ve made me see the world in a new light as well, and I’m better for it. Not only are you a beautiful woman, but exceedingly kind and thoughtful, something this world could use more of.

Over the years we’ve been able to see the world and travel all over, see amazing live music, share incredible meals, and create memories that will last forever. I can’t wait to create years and years of more memories, but I’m also just as excited for our relaxing evenings and early bedtimes.

While we have certainly had our ups and downs, and an unexpectedly chaotic year this year, we’ve made it through, stronger, together, and have built an understanding and a bond that will last a lifetime. We may come from very different places, but the possibilities of where we go from here, together, are wide open, and I couldn’t be more excited to figure it all out and make our plans a reality.

I promise to always listen, especially when you feel unheard. I promise to always be there for you, to trust you, to support you, to care for you, and to be an extra helping hand, or arm, when you need it, for as long as you need it. I promise to always make coffee in the morning, even when I might be a little grumpy.

Cuando nos conocimos hace más de 10 años, supe de inmediato que veías el mundo de una manera un poco diferente. A través de tu fotografía, tu amor por la música, por haber crecido aquí en Guatemala, o tu divertido sentido del humor. También me has hecho ver el mundo desde una nueva perspectiva, y eso me ha hecho mejorar. No solo eres una mujer hermosa, sino también sumamente amable y considerada, algo que este mundo necesita más.

A lo largo de los años, hemos podido ver el mundo y viajar por todas partes, ver música en vivo increíble, compartir comidas increíbles y crear recuerdos que durarán para siempre. No puedo esperar a crear años y años de más recuerdos, pero también estoy igual de emocionada por nuestras tardes relajantes y nuestras horas de dormir temprano.

Si bien ciertamente hemos tenido nuestros altibajos, y este año fue inesperadamente caótico, lo hemos superado, más fuertes, juntas, y hemos construido una comprensión y un vínculo que durará toda la vida. Puede que vengamos de lugares muy diferentes, pero las posibilidades de nuestro futuro juntos son muy amplias y no podría estar más emocionada de resolverlo todo y hacer realidad nuestros planes.
