Zach and Taylor met Spring 2019 in a Thermodynamics class while attending University of Kansas. Both were aerospace engineering majors, leading to lots of overlapping classes and friends, which eventually brought the two together. Officially they began dating when Zach asked Taylor to his fraternity formal that April.

After 5 years of dating, including some living together and long distance, Zach custom designed Taylor's dream ring and set things in motion. He proposed on July 5th, 2024 while on a mini-vacation to the Yellowstone / Grand Teton Nation Parks area. Zach orchestrated a ruggedly romantic excursion that didn't go quite according to plan, but after a quick last-minute adjustment, the two hiked to a scenic lake overlook where he proposed. It is rumored that Zach said a lot of really wonderful things, but Taylor doesn't remember any of it!
