In 2009, Zoey and Kevin met when Zoey walked into Kevin’s house on 14th for a party. Kevin was of course welcoming and hilarious, and they immediately became friends. He asked for her number and invited her to all his future house parties (sorry Robin, she was not at Katelin’s house). The two were often beer pong partners who joked of being husband and wife, but never left the friend zone.

Over the years, Kevin would jokingly ask Zoey out while they had “friend dates” over pitchers of margaritas. For the record, Zoey did kind of have a little crush on him, but the timing never worked out. They lost touch during the pandemic.

Finally in 2022, they ran into each other at COSI beer fest where, instead of a beautiful reunion, Kevin made fun of the very stylish wool blazer that Zoey was wearing. Jess, Zoey’s bridesmaid and beer fest confidant, said “he’s hot you should date him...” to which she replied “I would never, he called me a Grandpa.” Zoey looked back to see Kevin, shouting for his lost friend Paul.

Shortly after, Kevin coincidentally stepped into the brewery Zoey had just begun bartending at. After she served him a beer, she thought maybe she should finally give him a shot... why not. She texted him the best line of her life: “Maybe we should run into each other on purpose over a beer and catch up.” Although Kevin did not believe it was a date, they did get margaritas on a Taco Tuesday, just like old times.

Eventually, they got on the same page and quickly fell in love in the summer of 2022. Their first official date, that Kevin recognized as a date, was at a hibachi restaurant. Kevin bragged about catching shrimp out of the air and into his mouth, which somewhat impressed Zoey.

And now they will call each other Husband & Wife at every table, not just the beer pong table.
