Our story begins with a tale of three house parties.

In the first, Shubhro immediately recognized Amanda as a beautiful, vivacious, and special young lady. Unfortunately, Shubhro's attempts to get to know Amanda did not go very well because she was too focused on hanging with her friends and had no time for boys.

The second house party was hosted by Shubhro and Veran at their apartment. Gaining confidence from home-field advantage, Shubhro was more forward about his interest in Amanda. They spent the majority of the night talking and appreciating each other's shared interests and sense of humor. The night ended without the exchange of phone numbers, but with a timeless line from Shubhro, "if I see you again, would you want to talk with me some more?" Now if that's not a gentleman, then I don't know what is.

For our third house party, Shubhro's friends picked him up from the airport after 22 hours of travel from India and dragged him to the most important party of his life. An extremely jet-lagged Shubhro spent most of the night charming Amanda with his infectious, finally earning her phone number by the end of the evening.

Their first date was in Fountain Dining Hall. This selection by Amanda was chosen because she had found a way to sneak in without paying. Even now, but especially in her college years, she had an eye for a good deal. Things went well and there were many Fountain dates to come.

Amanda graduated a year before Shubhro and traveled to Cambridge to get a badass PhD from the most prestigious technical university in the world. Not to be outdone, Shubhro followed the next year, earning a masters degree just across the river.

During their time in Massachusetts, Shubhro and Amanda shared many adventures together, camping, skiing, and most importantly were lucky enough to serve under the rule of the smartest, softest, most patient, and most loving furball in the entire universe.

Shubhro's proposal was a testament to his understanding of and appreciation for Amanda. He proposed at sunset on the bow of her parents boat anchored in Block Island, surrounded by friends and family. The next day, the was another celebration with land-locked (poor suckers) friends and family.
