Q + A

How do we get to the ceremony location from Nelson?

We're planning two shuttle runs from Nelson (Prestige Lakeside Resort) to the ceremony at 1 and 2:30pm. And then back to Nelson at 10pm, 11pm, and 12am . Please reserve your shuttle spot in your RSVP. You can drive, but keep in mind that there is no parking onsite at the ceremony or reception site. You are welcome to park on Kokanee Glacier Road which is a 5-8 min walk away. We encourage carpooling! If you're camping at Kokanee Park, everything is within a 20-minute walking distance.

How do we get from the ceremony to the reception?

The ceremony is right across the street from our home (reception venue)! There will be signs!

What on earth does your dress code mean?

If you're reading this, you probably know neither of us is afraid of a bold fashion choice. We want to give you an opportunity to wear something that makes you feel fabulous. Maybe something you don't get to wear often. We'll be wearing our absolute finest with a subtle fantasy/elvish type vibe. (Think a midsummer’s night dream, or Bilbo Baggins' 111st birthday). Please don't be afraid to be creative. Be as business-casual or festival-fabulous as you like. We have it on good authority that there will be several folks in wings or capes. All colours are welcome (except white, please). Ultimately, we want you to be happy and comfortable. This is an outdoor wedding with some walking so comfortable shoes (You'd regret wearing heels, we promise) and weather-readiness are strongly suggested.

What does camping at your place look like?

We're planning a little camping area at our place for tents only (sadly we don't have space for car camping). There' ll be camping (bag) showers and mini-sauna, and a couple of porta potties. Parking will be on Kokanee Glacier Road which is a 5-10 min walk away. Let us know in your RSVP if you'd like to camp at our place and for how long so we can plan for tent space. Note: we don't have much flat space, but we're rich in trees. So hammock camping can be a good option.

What if I want to party later than the shuttle?

There are taxis available (Glacier cabs, we don't have Uber), or you can camp either at our place or Kokanee creek park campground is walking distance (you'll need to book). We also have a big temporary wood shop that will serve as a dormitory style camp-out spot. If you think you might party so hard that you "miss" the shuttle, don't worry. We've got you covered. Just bring a sleeping bag/pad.

My kids/partner aren't listed on the invitation, are they still welcome?

Yes! Of course! If they aren't listed it's only because we probably haven't seen each other in a while and we don't know their names yet. But they are very much welcome, and there will be other kids there. Please just add them in under "notes to the couple" when you RSVP so we can plan for it.

Registry?

We don't need any physical gifts, but welcome contributions in other forms. Please see the "gifts and helping out " page for ideas.

Can I bring my dog?

No dogs at the ceremony, please! The beach is small and we don't want them to knock anyone over as they romp. There will likely be a few dogs around at the reception. If your dog is well-behaved and plays nice with others they are welcome. Please keep in mind that we don't have fences and are right along the highway. If your fur friend has escape-y/bolting tendencies we recommend you leash them or leave them at home.

What about smoke and fires?

All we can do is hope for the best! Fire danger is unlikely this late in the season. It usually starts to get chilly and rainy around this date. We'll let you know ASAP if there's anything to be alarmed about, but here's a good resource if you want to keep an eye on the situation https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status

Bears!

We live alongside our wild-life neighbours mostly without incident, but make sure you follow bear-smart guidelines especially when camping and dealing with food. August is spawning season for the kokanee salmon so parts of the park will be off-limits so the bears can enjoy bulking up in peace.

Not a question, but... your wedding is really far away!

We get it! No hard feelings if you can't make it. But if you want to make an adventure out of it, we've done our best to time our celebration with a good season for exploring.
