There is no parking on site at either the ceremony or reception areas. What little there is we need to reserve for shuttles, set up crew, and emergency vehicles.
This is our main reason for investing in a shuttle! It's not just for folks who want to party hard ;)
You can park alongside the highway near the main entrance of Kokanee park (or in the park, if you're planning to go home before the gate closes at 11pm) and take the shuttle from there. The shuttle will pick folks up at the Friends Day use area at 1:40pm and 3:00pm. All evening runs will have stops at the park entrance. So you can get a ride to your car if you leave it there.
If you don't mind a walk (5-10 mins) you can park in the lot at Kokanee Glacier road (first left after the main park entrance) or anywhere you find along that road.
If you want to stay late, or party hard please plan a safe ride, call a cab, or stay overnight. We have a big tent that can fit everyone who needs to crash, and we can help you get back to town or retrieve your vehicle the next day. Just bring a sleeping bag/pad. If you're planning on camping with us and want to drop off gear, please come early (All day Friday, or before 2pm Sat.) and someone will help you.
I've outlined a map here with some safe places to park. There is nowhere safe to park along the highway closer to the reception area or past it on the east side (not within walking distance).
* Please update your RSVP to confirm your shuttle spot. *
The questions have changed since we first sent out the invitation.
We want to make sure we don't leave anyone behind!
The shuttle is a 43-person school bus and will pick folks up at the Prestige Lakeside Resort in downtown Nelson, and at the Friends Day Use Area at Kokanee Creek provincial park (campground).
Afternoon shuttle schedule:
1:00 pm: pick up at Prestige Lakeside (Nelson)

3:00 pm: pick up at Kokanee creek park
Evening Shuttle schedule:
Drop-offs at Kokanee park and Nelson Prestige Lakeside on every run

Partying beyond the last shuttle? Taxis are available, or you can bring a tent and camp at ours or crash in the big chill tent dormitory style (we recommend a sleeping bag/pad). It'll be easy to catch a ride, carpool, or even take a city bus back to Nelson the next day.
The ceremony will be at Kokanee Landing beach which is accessible off Kokanee landing road (follow the signs from the big red barn). The beach is small and we'll have limited seating but, you're welcome to bring picnic blankets, cushions and camping chairs,
There is no parking available at the site, so we invite you to take advantage of our shuttle or park along either the highway (near the provincial park) or Kokanee Glacier rd. and walk from there. Please see the parking info at the top of the page.
We're hosting our reception and after party in the forest surrounding our home. We live right across from the ceremony beach. All you'll need to do is walk up our drive way. Please let us know if you have mobility issues and we'll organize a shuttle for you from the beach to the main party zone.
Dinner will be casual (not a sit down dinner, though there will be living room style seating available) and followed by live music and a DJ dance party.
Expect a strolling/roving experience with many hang out spots.
Fingers crossed for sunny weather, but better safe than sorry! Weather in the mountains changes quickly, and the evenings are getting nice and cool. We recommend a cozy jacket (preferably waterproof). And we'll have somewhere for you to hang it.
Footwear: We're going from a beach to the steep woods. Please don't wear heels or slippery soles. You will be sad, and it will make us sad. If it makes you feel better, Annalee will have velour hiking boots hidden under her wedding dress.

For those of you who haven't spent time in the Kootenays, here's a little primer:
Nelson is a picturesque mountain town of aprox 10,000 people. In downtown most of the amenities are walkable from the main street (Baker St). The whole town is situated on a Mountainside. The Uphill and Rosemont areas are quite steep. Fairview is flatter and more accessible.
Our home/wedding site. We're located a 20 minute drive north east from downtown Nelson. Our place is at the foot of Kokanee Glacier park and mount Yuil. So very steep. We're almost done building our house, but there will likely still be some construction underway. Please make sure you take care on forest paths and uneven ground.
The main party zone is at the top of our driveway making use of all our flattest space. There will be a stage, some seating (in the main area and through out the surrounding forest) a buffet style dinner and space to dance.
If you have mobility challenges or any other access needs please let us know. We can arrange a drive-way shuttle for you up from the beach after the ceremony and back down again.
Here is a map of the area around our wedding venue showing parking, amenities and points of interest.
