We live on a big, steep piece of mountain. There is lots of forest if you want to spend the night after the wedding party. Keep in mind that, though there is a lot of space, almost none of it is flat.
Please let us know in your RSVP if you'd like to camp at our place on any of the nights of your visit. We're working on creating tent spots.
*We only have room for tents (no car camping) and parking will be a 5-10 minute walk away.*
If you party so hard that you miss the shuttle (or think you might) we have a big covered area for dormitory style crashing. Just bring a sleeping bag/pad.
If you're planning on camping with us and want to drop off gear, please come early (All day Friday, or before 2pm Sat.) and someone will help you.
Our beautiful mountain town is a little out of the way. There are airports an hour away in both Trail and Castlegar. However, they can be unreliable (Cancelgar.. I mean Castlegar in particular).
We've found that the cheaper more reliable option is to fly into Kelowna or Cranbrook if travelling within Canada (or Spokane if travelling from the US). This works particularly well if you're pairing your time with us with some other adventures like backpacking, or mountain biking and you plan to rent a car.
Closest but least reliable Airport (45 min drive)
Next closest and slightly more reliable airport. (1-1.5 hour drive)
3hr 15 minute drive. * Important note * if google maps tries to tell you that the quickest route from Cranbrook is Grey Creek pass DO NOT LISTEN. This is a winding dirt road through the mountains and not suitable for most vehicles/comfort levels.
Where we typically fly from. Less expensive flights, and typically fewer delays and cancellations. 4-hour drive.
Best option for those coming from the US. Approx 3 hour drive.
Our ceremony and home/reception venue are a short walk away.
If you're up for camping or are road-tripping in a Van or RV this is by far the best place to stay.
There are three campgrounds within the park to choose from and all of them are within walking distance to our wedding spots. Make sure to reserve early! Spots fill up fast.
Reservations open 4 months ahead of the date, so make sure you set an alarm for 6:30 or 7 am April 30th (for example, If you want to camp for 2 nights)
*update May 1st* reservations are now full, but you might be able to grab a first come first serve spot if you're planning to come and camp earlier in the week.
There are so many lovely options throughout the region. Choose downtown nelson for a friendly, walk-able experience. Anywhere near 12 mile/Kokanee park for proximity to us/ wedding venue. Across the Harrop/proctor ferry is a decent spot too (5 min cable ferry ride).
The nearest hotel/motel. They have a nice little restaurant.
Upscale historical hotel in downtown Nelson. 20 min drive from the venue.
