Construction began in 1530 and lasted 5 years. Claude Le Roux was the first owner: heir to Guillaume II Le Roux, Lord of bourgtheroulde, he had the Castle erected to establish his social status as a parliamentarian and member of the Echiquier. Clues indicate that a chapel was attached to the Castle and destroyed during the French Revolution. The wall ruins surrounding the castle is reminiscent of the medieval past of these grounds.
