Brett went to Cincinnati to visit her brother Ari who moved there for work (#GoReds). They met up with a group of Ari's friends before heading to a "Wear White Party." To be honest, Brett didn't really remember meeting Brian that night, but he had the proof (this picture). Brian continues to impress Brett by recalling things she said while sitting around that table three years ago. It's only fitting that Brett was wearing white the night she first met her groom-to-be...

A year later, during another visit to Cincinnati, Brett and Brian were once again in the same room at the same time (and this night she very much remembers). Brett takes credit for inviting Brian, along with a few of Ari's other friends, to join her in the suite. If memory serves, this game ended up having two rain delays, causing most people to leave. Brett refused to leave early and miss part of the game... and despite it being a school night, Brian refused to leave early and miss spending time with Brett. He gets all of the credit for that night.

Almost another full year later, Brett returns to Cincinnati again; this time for the Yankees/Reds series. Having an extra ticket, Brett invites Brian (he really did impress her by staying through those two rain delays the year before). Brian claims that he almost said no, knowing he would be dealing with Brett as she cheered for her Yankees. Thankfully, he showed up and Brett and Brian really hit it off. They now refer to this day as "date zero."

Brian shocked Brett when he sent her a bouquet of flowers and chocolate covered strawberries to celebrate her "new" job (which she casually hinted at during the game two weeks prior). Talk about making a move! Note: Brian has continued to give Brett flowers throughout their relationship (something he learned from his father). It touches her heart every time...

After a month of texting and getting to know one another more, Brian invited Brett to Vero Beach to flex his family's beachfront condo... and see if there was any chemistry between them. SPOILER ALERT: There was / is. They saw how compatible they were, sharing a love not only for sports, but for casinos and beaches as well.

Brian and Brett spent a bunch of months (and a bunch of miles) flying back and forth between Philadelphia and Cincinnati for weekend visits. Somewhere along the way, they realized they had something special...

Brett flew down to Florida to "meet the family" and enjoy her first Sugerman Thanksgiving. Less than two hours after Brett arrived, Brian tested positive for Covid (after he had avoided it for almost four years). A big family weekend pivoted into Brett and Brian hotel/condo quarantining. They quickly put the "in sickness" part to the test.

By the end of the long weekend, Brian was feeling better and tested negative, and Brett was able to spend some quality time with the Sugermans. The family says that Brett earned extra brownie points for nursing Brian back to health.

Brian spent a great weekend in New York City meeting Brett's parents. Brett's mom was thrilled to finally meet the man in all of her daughter's pictures. Not surprisingly, Brian passed Professor Rubin's "test questions" with flying colors. The weekend was magical, and Brett says she knew then that Brian was her person.

Brett and Brian rang in the New Year together aboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean Sea. The following few months were spent booking flights to spend time together whenever and wherever they could: Florida, Mexico, Akron, Philly. Brett and Brian were committed to making each other a priority... and Brett was continuing to keep her priority status with American Airlines.

Brian went to California for a training session at Apple's headquarters. Brett joined him at the end of the session for a (rainy) weekend getaway. As if, perfectly timed, the rain stopped for 15 minutes when Brian proposed to Brett. They didn't know then that their wedding date would be EXACTLY one year later.

The Rubins and the Sugermans met for the first time at Passover Seder in Cincinnati. Brett and Brian hosted a lovely dinner at Brian's house and can't wait to host more family gatherings in the future. It's no surprise that the two families got along very well!

Brett made the move to Cincinnati, and she and Brian are excited to start building their life together in the same city!
