Ben and Caroline met in the late spring of 2019.
Their first date?
Skiing uphill to go downhill at Sunday River. On that first outing, they happily shared cheese sticks and crackers—washed down with a Pabst Blue Ribbon, of course.
As the day unfolded, Ben thought Caroline was a fast and fun skier, and Caroline thought Ben could keep up. When the date ended, they both figured, “Heck, why not do this again?” So for their second date—yep, you guessed it—they went skiing again! It was closing day at Sunday River, where Ben passed with flying colors the first real test: understanding that when Caroline says, “A few of my friends will be there,” she might actually mean a small army.
Since those first few dates (all of which involved skis or bikes), Ben and Caroline have celebrated many milestones: their first Charlie’s Lap, first Saddleback road trip, first viewing of Star Wars, first beach day on Cape Cod, first Vermont Bike Epic, first Gulf of Slides ascent, first van trip, first porch sit, first family dinners, first trail work day, and first cup of coffee in their big green Morris chairs. Each of these “firsts” has led to countless adventures and helped them build a pretty rad life together.
Ben and Caroline love each other for many reasons—but mainly…
Ben loves Caroline for her loyalty, humor, intelligence, outdoor skills, cooking, and how cute she is when she’s not hungry or tired.
Caroline loves Ben for his unwavering patience and support, his beard/mustache, his love for his community, his skills as an outdoorsman, his logical mind, and his ability to remind her to get her oil changed.
In the end, it’s been a bit of PBR, porch sitting, patience, love, adventure, and many sweet treats that have brought them to where they are now. Everyone in their community is part of their story and completes the picture.
Thank you for being part of our journey—we cannot wait to celebrate with you at our wedding!
With love,
Caroline and Ben
