Getting onto Whidbey Island

There are two ways onto the island, one is from the southern end via a drive-on ferry, and the other is from the northern end via a bridge called Deception Pass.

If you are taking the ferry, take a peak at the ferry cameras linked. If there is a long line, our recommendation would be to drive the northern way through Deception Pass - it only adds ~15 minutes and will guarantee you don't have to wait in the ferry line.

If you opt for the ferry, map to Mukilteo Ferry Terminal and as you are getting close, be mindful of the road signs indicating when and where you should merge into the ferry waiting line. From there, the process for getting onto the ferry should be very straightforward. If you do not pay attention to the signs, it's not possible to merge in later and you will be sent to the back of the line.

Shuttle to the Venue

We will have a shuttle pickup at Salty Vons Waterfront Inn in Coupeville. The first pickup will be at 3 pm, and a second and final one will be at 3:30 pm. If you are staying in an Airbnb on the southern end of the island, feel free to take advantage of this shuttle. The shuttle will make one drop off trip right after the reception, and a final drop off trip around 11:45 pm.

For those booking a different hotel or Airbnb and opting to drive to the venue, there is plenty of parking at Captain Whidbey. Uber/Lyft is not a reliable mode of transport on the island.

What are my airport options?

SeaTac (SEA) is the main airport in Seattle, but there is a smaller airport north of Seattle and closer to the ferry called Paine Field (PAE), in Everett.

Are there any shuttles from the airport to the island?

Actually there are. If you want to avoid renting a car, there is a shuttle service from both SEA and PAE. Go to https://www.seatacshuttle.com/ for more details. A word of caution, being an island, public transportation is sparse and rideshare services are unreliable.

Should I rent a car?

While not imperative, you should. There are minimal Uber/Lyft options on the island and transportation from airports to the island is available but time consuming.
