This is a classic story of rivalry turned to friendship—then to love.
Karly and Crystal have known each other since childhood, often facing off in soccer, softball, and eventually basketball. Their competitive nature kept them from becoming friends, especially since they attended rival high schools.
Their paths finally aligned in 2006 when Karly joined the basketball team at Western New Mexico University, where Crystal was already playing. They quickly bonded, transforming their rivalry into a friendship rooted in laughter, connection, and the magnetic pull of each other’s energy.
After graduation, life took them in different directions. Karly moved to Pennsylvania and New Jersey, while Crystal worked as a traveling therapist, taking her talents to Boston, Napa Valley, and beyond. Despite the distance, they remained close.
In 2010, Crystal bought a house in El Paso and was looking for a roommate—just as Karly moved back home. Over the next five years, their bond deepened. As roommates, they shared countless adventures: city scavenger hunts, their first trip to Europe, volunteering on a coffee plantation in Central America, and doing just about everything together. Their friendship blossomed into a partnership—one that brought more joy and fulfillment than either could have imagined.
After four years as a couple, they began sharing their relationship with friends and family. It was a vulnerable step, but the outpouring of love and support was overwhelming. That affirmation only strengthened their connection and made them realize how much they had missed by keeping it private for so long.
In 2023, on a ski trip to the French Alps, Karly surprised Crystal with a proposal on a picturesque trail, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views.
And now, we arrive at today—the day you're reading the story of a long partnership rooted in friendship, adventure, and love. Ten years after becoming a couple, Crystal and Karly are getting married in the small town of Marfa, TX, a place they explored together and fell in love with over the years. It's a town where they’ve always felt safe, free, and at home.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Your love and support have meant the world to us.
