Things to Do

NORTHERN MICHIGAN

If you're from Michigan, there's a good chance that you've been to Traverse City. If you haven't, then you definitely know someone who has.

Everyone likes Traverse City for different reasons and everyone has an opinion on the best activities to do. We encourage you to ask around for ideas but can also help.

MICHIGAN WINERIES

There are two distinct areas, if you want to go wine tasting. The Old Mission Peninsula, or the Leelanau Peninsula. Both offer beautiful drives and views of the Grand Traverse Bay. We enjoy going to both and truly, you can't go wrong.

WHERE TO EAT

The food scene is always changing in Traverse City, and there are a wide variety of restaurants to check out depending on your preference.

Some of our favorites include Little Fleet, Trattorria Stella, Slabtown Burgers, and The Filling Station.

WHERE TO DRINK

There are an abundance of beer/breweries in the Traverse City area and plenty of bars if you want something a bit stronger.

If you are into sours, head to Jolly Pumpkin.

For the craft fans, head to Right Brain Brewery.

If you want something local, try Middle Coast Brewing Company.

Some of our favorite places to grab a drink are:

7 Monks Taproom, The Filling Station, Traverse City Whiskey Co., and Left Foot Charley.

SLEEPING BEAR DUNES

Roughly 30 miles NW of Traverse City lies the famous Sleeping Bear Dunes. They are frequently ranked one of the top attractions in the country and widely regarded as one of the best parts of Michigan.

If you have the time, it is quite something to climb the Dunes and look out over glorious Lake Michigan. There are plenty of access points and we encourage you make the trip if you can. A fun place we recommend exploring is Empire Bluffs.

HIKING/BIKING

People up north love to be active outside and access to trails has been continually expanding. There are plenty of nature hikes within a short drive of downtown TC or Grawn, MI (where the reception will be held).

New bike trails are continuously being established but check out the TART Trails network if you want to ride without cars disturbing you. My favorite ride is the 17 mile Leelanau Trail which is picturesque any time of the year.
