We decided to have our wedding in Galveston because it holds a very special place in our hearts. Josh’s grandmother was born on the island and his family vacationed in Galveston when Josh was a child. Rebecca’s family also drove from Houston to spend the day at the beach on many occasions. We've got the baby photos to prove it!
We have come to Galveston many times over the course of our relationship to enjoy the museums, architecture, and seafood. We also love swimming in the Gulf. Yes, the water is brownish but it isn’t dirty! Sediment from the Mississippi River & Red River empty into the Gulf of Mexico. Galveston water is mostly shallow causing the sand and sediment turnover to be relatively high (unlike places like Florida where the water is deeper and there is more flora to catch the sediment.)
We have made many special memories in Galveston over the years and we’re so glad to share this beach town with you. We hope you take some time to walk around the Strand, Post Office Street, and the Seawall.
