Sunday Activities

Following a casual self-served breakfast (8:30-10am), we propose a few activities that can be easily done from our hotel at an additional cost.

We will reassemble on-site for a final goodbye at 2:30pm for those who are still around.

Group 1: To the Top of the Mountain and Trotti Bikes Down!

Cost: 52 CHF per person, or 40 CHF with half-tax/GA (when traveling on a group ticket)

We will depart around 10:30am, taking the gondola from Hasliberg-Reuti to the Alpentower, at 2250m high. Gondolas run frequently, so if you're slightly late, you can still manage!

A day group ticket (for 10 people) costs 40 CHF per person, or 28 CHF with half-tax/GA. We will try to minimize costs by booking group tickets.

Non-group day tickets cost 47 CHF or 33 CHF with half-tax/GA

After enjoying the views from the top station, we will return via gondola to Mägisalp. From here, you can choose to take a Trottibike down the mountain. This costs 12CHF for an adult (or 7CHF per kid).

Group 2: A journey through the beautiful Aare Gorge

Cost: 12 CHF per person (Travel is included in our overnight tourist pass)

Take the gondola at 10:38am from Hasliberg-Reuti to Meiringen. You don't need to buy tickets as long as you have your overnight pass! Make sure to be on time! This gondola only runs every 30 minutes! You can also catch it at 11:08am, but you will have less time to explore the gorge. From the valley station in Meiringen, you will walk about 25 minutes to the Aare Gorge West Entrance. After purchasing your entry tickets, walk the length of the Aare River Gorge, admiring the glacial waters and hidden Swiss bunkers along your way.

Ticket Prices:

Adults: 12 CHF

Children (6 years - 16 years): 7.50 CHF

Children under 6: Free

Make sure to leave from the East Entrance at the other side of the gorge by 13:15pm to catch the 13:32 train from Aareschlucht Ost (Bahn) to Meiringen, then gondola to Hasliberg-Reuti, arriving at 14:15pm. If you've finished a bit early, you can also take the train at 13:05. This train stop is really funky - built into the side of a mountain, it's an experience in itself! Make sure to press the button to call the train! You can also walk back through the gorge to Meiringen.

Group 3: Relax at the hotel or explore the area

You are more than welcome to enjoy the calm atmosphere in Hasliberg-Rueti. Feel free to explore the quaint village on your own and relax in the sunshine.

Alternatives in the area:

-Visit Reichenbach Waterfall (the place where Sherlock Holmes is said to have died). Price: 12 CHF for the return journey on the 126-year old funicular to the falls. To reach the funicular, take the cable car into Meiringen and walk about 15 minutes

-Sherlock Holmes Museum

-Ballenberg Museum, a Swiss Open-Air Museum (great for kids). 20 minute drive or ~1 hour public transit to Ballenberg West, Museum

-Explore the villages of Meiringen and Interkirchen (included on your tourist travel pass).

-Go for a swim in the brilliant Brienzersee

Whatever you get up to, we you love to have you back before 2:30pm for a final goodbye. We need to be off the hotel premises by 4pm.

Alternatives in case of rain

Some activities, such as the Aare Gorge, the Reichenback Waterfall, and Sherlock Holmes Museum, are still very enjoyable in poor weather. We would also invite you to play board games and a pub quiz.
