Our Story

This isn't your typical love story where the boy swoons over the girl. This is a modern day love story where the girl knows exactly want she wants and chases after it.

Katie and Evan's story began at Salve Regina University in 2015. Evan walked into Ecology class and Katie's eyes were drawn to this tall-handsome man. Their professor, Dr. Chace, assigned groups to work on projects together, and somehow a miracle occurred and they were paired together for a couple of projects.

Katie knew that this was her chance on actually getting to know Evan. As they worked on projects together, Katie made hints to other classmates stating that she had a crush on Evan. As the semester went on, they started to become familiar with each other through mutual friends outside of the class room, and at parties. As some of you may know, Evan likes to take his time... and then a little more time. So it's no surprise that Katie would be making all the first moves.

They began hanging out daily, and were learning so much about each other. After a couple of months into this stage, Katie questioned if Evan would ever ask her to be his girlfriend. She waited endlessly for him to officially ask her out. When Katie couldn't wait any longer, she asked him to define the relationship. Evan said, "Of course I want you to be my girlfriend!"

But the story doesn't stop there. There was still that moment where this couple had to say those three magical words. Do you want to guess how they first said "I love you" to each other? If you guess that Katie questioned Evan again, you've guessed correctly! They were on Block Island, walking up the hill to the Spring House holding hands, after a couple of rum buckets, and Katie drunkenly questioned Evan, "Do you even love me?" and Evan replied, "Of course I love you!".

Once Katie and Evan graduated college, they ultimately decided that their future lies in New York. Katie switched her career focus from marine science to ecology and moved North. Evan switched his career from being a feline specialist/news broadcaster TV star to working for the family business. During this transition, Evan decided to foster a kitten named Murray, and later adopted him. This inevitably grew their little fur family.

Katie put the pressure on Evan to move out of his parents house, and a couple of years down the road, they moved in together. So much love and admiration lies within their home. But at this point Katie and Evan have been dating for 7 years, and some people would only wonder what would come next in their bonded life. Katie questioned when a proposal would happen. It took some time for Evan to come around and officially "settle down", but he did pop the question (that we've all been waiting for).

This past year, Evan and Katie went on a hike called Cobble Hill, which they frequent often. As they were admiring the fall foliage at the top of the mountain, Evan said, "Well you know how much I love you; will you marry me?" And Katie replied, "Of course!"

Katie's advice to everyone who read through their love story, is to always pursue your dreams, and not to fret when the boy you love isn't making moves fast enough- of course he still loves you.

At this point, Katie and Evan are well into the wedding planning process to make their special day filled with love and laughter. They hope that everyone is ready to party come August!
