We are monitoring the impacts of COVID-19 and how they may affect our wedding day. Please check back on our website frequently for any updates. We will post any new information as it comes to us in the "COVID-19" section.
Arapahoe Basin is a ski resort located ~88 miles west of Denver International Airport and less than a 1.5 hour drive from Denver. Please see the "Travel" page for specific directions on how to get there!
The Black Mountain Lodge (our ceremony/reception site) is Arapahoe Basin's mid-mountain lodge located at 11,550ft above sea level! You must take a chairlift to access the lodge from the base of the mountain.
WE PROMISE YOU IT IS NOT BAD! Riding the chairlift is an experience in itself and we encourage everyone to keep an open mind and try it! The chairlift truly is the easiest, safest, and most comfortable way to get to the venue. The lift can be completely slowed down/stopped as much as needed to accommodate everybody's needs. If you are still unsure or on the fence, please click the link below to see what riding the chair lift will be like:

Chairlift access will be available for the entire duration of the wedding/reception with lift operators standing by, so you can come and go as you please.
**IF YOU ARE PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO RIDE THE CHAIR LIFT, PLEASE CONTACT US SO THAT WE CAN MAKE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS FOR YOU**
FYI - We will do our absolute best to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable. With that said, we are very limited in the number of special accommodations we can make to get people up the mountain. Please be mindful of this and the people who actually need those accommodations. Also be aware that the only other way to get to the venue is by a rugged 4WD service road. The ride up WILL be bumpy and will take significantly longer than riding the chairlift. We cannot have any of our guests driving their own personal vehicles up the service road.
**At this time, the venue can only accommodate to drive 6 people max up the mountain**
We will be offering shuttle services to/from the venue. Shuttle services will be picking up/dropping off ONLY from Keystone Lodge and Spa and out front of the Buffalo Lodge in River Run Village. If you are not staying in these areas, you will need to find a way to get to the shuttle points or drive to the venue yourself.
**Please see the home page for shuttle pickup schedules!**
If you choose to drive to the venue instead of using the shuttle services, there is plenty of parking at the base of the mountain and is in the same parking lot that the shuttles will be dropping off/picking up, so you will not have to worry about walking far or getting lost.
When you RSVP, please indicate if you plan on using the shuttle services the day of the wedding so that we can provide an accurate head count to the shuttle company and ensure we have enough transportation for everyone!
Beautiful Colorado cannot be beat with its 300 days of sunshine a year! The temperature will get cooler and windier the higher in elevation you go, and weather conditions at elevation can change quickly. You can expect temperatures in the high 50s-mid 60s up the mountain at the lodge, which can be significantly cooler than the temperatures at the base of the mountain (think summer conditions at the base of the mountain and fall conditions up top). At night after sunset the temperature will drop to the upper 40s-low 50s, so we do recommend bringing a sweater or light jacket. Colorado has virtually NO HUMIDITY, so you should be very comfortable throughout the whole day/night no matter what you choose to wear!
It is not uncommon to experience afternoon rain storms at higher elevations, however they are usually very brief and should clear up before the start of the ceremony. Don't worry, the venue will provide rain gear for every guest if the need arises!
YES. Most people adjust to the change in altitude with no problems, but due to the lower oxygen at the higher elevation, you may experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, headaches, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. It can take a couple of days for your body to adjust to the change in altitude. No, you will not die, but you may feel uncomfortable for a short time.
Ibuprofen helps! It is also very important to drink LOTS of water and stay hydrated. You can also purchase "canned oxygen" (yes, they actually sell air in a can) at pretty much any mountain town convenience store/gas station! If you are able, spending a day or 2 at a lower elevation (Denver or Dillon) can also help you acclimate better.
Please be mindful if you are drinking alcohol as it can have a much faster/drastic effect if you are not used to being at higher elevations.
If you need to drive into town for any reason, Silverthorne is only a 10 minute drive from Keystone. You'll be able to find all of your typical shopping conveniences there.
If you are staying in River Run Village, the Rockin' R Ranch Trading Post is a grocery/liquor store inside the resort where you can find most of your basic necessities just steps away from your condo. Be aware that being inside the resort prices/taxes will be higher.
Yes, you can legally purchase recreational marijuana (cash only). No, you can't openly smoke in public. No, you can't smoke at the venue (the venue is located on national forest land which is federal property).
There are no dispensaries in the Keystone/ Arapahoe Basin area. If you are looking, you will need to drive into Silverthorne, Frisco, or Breckenridge, or pick some up in Denver or Idaho Springs on your way out of town. Most head shops offer both recreational and medicinal options, but you can only buy medicinal marijuana if you have an IN-STATE medical card. Medical cards from other states will not allow you to purchase medicinal marijuana in Colorado. There are also limits as to how much you can buy.
