We were best friends before we started dating. We met at the sports' team physicals for the swim team as freshmen at Ithaca College. Justin immediately approached Lainey and started talking about our shared experiences as distance swimmers. We spent a lot of time together outside the pool going bowling, getting frozen yogurt and watching movies. We had a connection from the start.

Justin immediately approached Lainey and started talking about our shared experiences as distance swimmers. We spent a lot of time together outside the pool going bowling, getting frozen yogurt and watching movies. We had a connection from the start.
We went on our first date on October 24, 2013. Justin planned a full day scavenger hunt that ended with tickets to a show at the State Theatre of Ithaca. We spent the rest of sophomore year learning about each other and enjoying the college experience.

The summer after sophomore year, we visited each other in our home states. Justin came to Maine and tried his first lobster. We went whale watching, candlestick bowling, mini golfing, kayaking and on many hikes. Maine became a special place for us and we go back every chance we can.

The summer after sophomore year, we visited each other in our home states. Justin came to Maine and tried his first lobster. We went whale watching, candlestick bowling, mini golfing, kayaking and on many hikes. Maine became a special place for us and we go back every chance we can.
When Lainey visited Colorado, we had tons of amazing food, went hiking, bowling and explored Denver. We went to the aquarium and Water World. This was the first time we said we were in love with each other. We got to spend time with both of our families and felt right at home in Maine and Colorado.

When Lainey visited Colorado, we had tons of amazing food, went hiking, bowling and explored Denver. We went to the aquarium and Water World. This was the first time we said we were in love with each other. We got to spend time with both of our families and felt right at home in Maine and Colorado.
We did everything together for almost four years and only grew closer. We swam/worked out together for 2-5 hours a day. We took classes together, shared group projects and tutored each other (mostly Justin tutoring Lainey in Spanish). On our breaks, we visited each other and took trips together with our families.

After graduation, we moved to Colorado and got a puppy, Disney. We started our adult jobs, joined Crossfit and spent our weekends exploring Colorado.

On March 31, Justin said we were going on a secret errand. We went to Barr Lake and walked around looking for eagles and enjoying the scenery. We walked out to a gazebo in the middle of the water. While Lainey was looking through the binoculars, Justin got down on one knee and when Lainey turned around, he proposed. It was an incredibly special moment shared just with the two of us.
