Metered parking lots along near Tunnel Creek Café, where we suggest grabbing some DELICIOUS breakfast or lunch! Get there early to find parking or take the local bus (TART).

With long, wide stretches of soft sand and panoramic views of the lake, Nevada Beach is a great pick if you are looking for more space to spread out and relax. It is easier to access (no intense hiking involved!) and is family + dog friendly. Great spot for a picnic and to watch the sunset.
There is a $10 entrance fee to park at the campground near the beach. However, those looking to avoid the fee can park at the trailhead for the scenic Lam Watah Nature Trail and walk to Nevada Beach for free.

Want a more low key, relaxing activity? Go rafting along the Truckee River! There are two companies you can rent large rafts for a group of 8 or less. Or you can bring your own float, paddle board, or kayak and go for free. Pack a cooler and enjoy a lazy river type float with some fun rapids near the end.
You will start near the Lake Tahoe Dam and end at the River Ranch. If you go through the rafting companies, they offer a shuttle service. If you go on your own, park one car near the Tahoe City Transit Center and one car near the River Ranch.
