Maggie Verrall -- Buffalo, NY
Maggie Verrall -- Buffalo, NY - Maid of Honor

Q: How did you become besties with the bride?
A: I became besties with Madison through years of invading her space, stealing her clothes, and forced hugs. Further bonding through sending her texts she won't read and teasing our parents (with love).

Q: What bridesmaid duties are you most excited about?
A: Some maid of honor duties I take very seriously are having fun intimidating Shawn and spilling red wine on anyone who dares to wear white to the wedding...y'all don't stand a chance.

Q: What's your favorite memory with the bride?
A: Favorite is a bad word, but one really fun memory I have with Madison is when she came to Albany to visit me on a whim. We all know Madison is so fun and spontaneous and it was so great to get to see her out of the blue.

Q: How did you become besties with the bride?

A: We met at Seton Hill during our freshman year as we lived in the same building. I was getting to know Payal and Shraddha, who happened to be mutual friends of Maddie, which is how we initially met. However, Maddie and I's budding friendship was eternally solidified when we were hanging out in another friend's room and Maddie (in tried and true, friendly-Maddie fashion) said to me, "I just really like you and want to get to know you more because you seem really cool and I want to be your friend," gave me a huge hug, and the rest was history. Maddie continues to make me feel super happy and so loved every day, and I'll be forever amazed by her ability to make genuine friends wherever she goes!"

Q: What bridesmaid duties are you most excited for?

A: I love all things wedding so I'm just excited to be a part of everything wedding-related! I'm most excited about wedding dress shopping, celebrating her bachelorette party, but most importantly, standing up there next to her as she marries the love of her life.

Q: What is my favorite thing about Maddie?

A: I have genuinely, in my life, never met someone with a kinder heart than Maddie. She loves everyone so fiercely and unconditionally, and you feel so special whenever you're around her because she truly believes you are one of the most amazing humans to have ever been her friend. She always sees the best in you which helps you see the best in yourself. Her smile is contagious, her excitement for life makes everything into a celebration, and her hugs can cure even the saddest of hearts. Maddie is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of friend and I feel so lucky that she found her way into mine.

Q: How did you meet the groom?

A: We met at honors program orientation at George Fox University. Shawn was mistaken for my uncle due to his beard.

Q: What's your favorite memory with the groom?

A: Either deciding to drive to the redwoods after having lunch in Newberg, or discussing life under the Christmas lights in our dorm.

Q: Do you have any special skills or hobbies?

A: I make cainmaile armomr, blacksmith, am a second black belt in MMA and am currently studying shaolin kung fu.

Q: What groomsman duty are you most excited about?

A: Heheh duty.....

Q: How did you become besties with the bride?

A: Maddie and I met in elementary school, specifically in 2nd grade. We started becoming better friends once we both joined stage crew in high school. When long days turned into late nights, it was all worth it in the company of someone as great as Maddie. We worked on many shows together but the biggest one is yet to come!

Q: Do you have any special skills or hobbies?

A: My special skill is that I can beat Maddie in Mario Kart Wii - any day, any time.

Q: What bridesmaid duties are you most excited for?

A: There are two! I am very excited for the bachelorette party--I'm super hyped to visit Maddie in Yakima and see the sights around there (and to party with some pretty amazing people). I am also excited to help everything come together! When there are months that go into planning and you finally get to see it all come together - it's magical.

Q: What was my favorite trip with Maddie?

A: As we all know, Maddie will always be an avid traveler. On my list of places I've been with Maddie, it's tied between Disney and Cedar Point. My first time to Disney was with our choir and we got to preform Christmas music in December. It was such a beautiful experience. Our Cedar Point trip was 4th of July weekend. We spent the day riding rides, eating fried food, and ended the day with fireworks. Again, magical experience. Honorable mentions: NYC and DC :)

Q: What song am I going to request from the DJ on Maddie's big day?

A: Me Rehusó by Danny Ocean!! To be honest, there are so many songs that I associate with Maddie-Hamilton songs, Spanish songs, and even Indian songs, but this one takes me back to our trip to Spain with her, where we heard the song for the first time and made memories of a lifetime together. Anytime this song came on we KNEW we were going to have a great time. So of course this song will definitely be playing on her big day to make her smile bigger than she already will be, if that's even possible. (Issues by Julia Michaels is a close second ;) )

Q: What's your favorite memory with the bride?

A: You might think this is silly, but my favorite memory with this beautiful bride is the time I took the campus shuttle with her...yes, out of all our memories together, this is the one I choose. On this day Maddie and I were very bored and decided to wait outside in the cold and rainy weather just so we could get on the shuttle and ask the driver to take us to his favorite spot on campus. We decided this was going to be our adventure for the day, and it really turned out to be one. The driver blasted his music for us, and Maddie and I laughed out loud on this empty shuttle like two crazy people. With Maddie, there is never a dull moment, and this simple memory reminds me of that. Oh, and if you're wondering, the shuttle driver's favorite spot was the parking lot because that meant he was finally going home.

Q: What is Maddie's Birthday?

A: This is honestly one of the hardest questions I have ever been asked and Maddie makes a point to ask me constantly. But, after years of getting the answer wrong, I have decided to learn it as an early wedding gift to her. 11/23/1998. Madison, I hope you're happy.

Q: How did you become besties with the bride?

A: Long story short, it was Mrs. Verrall's blueberry cobbler! But long story long, Maddie being the outgoing person she came down to mine and Shraddha's room and invited us to play cards and have some cobbler. We all just got along so well that, later you always saw us together. Whether dinner, walking the halls, around campus, or in class, we spent all the time together. She is honestly the most amazing, honest, and down to earth person I have met, her smile is contagious, and she can make anyone's day with just a huge hug.

Q: What is your favorite memory with the bride?

A: There are too many to choose from, but my favorite is one that happened over and over again during school. Whenever someone would asked how much we had studied, we would both just look at each other and know we were just not there. With one look, we were on the same page. It became a habit to ask each other how much work we had done to reassure ourselves that it will be okay. Extra love for the fact that we still do it now! Close second to seeing the smile on drunk Maddie's face after I put her hair in a bun!

Q: What is the only thing that makes Maddie grumpy?

A: The only time you will ever see a frown on Maddie's face is if you try to wake her up. Regardless of if she looks uncomfortable on the cough or floor, leave her be! Don't wake the beast <3

Q: How did you meet the groom?
A: Shawn and I met our freshman year of college at the honors program orientation camping trip. We spoke briefly, and the next morning he came bounding up to me and said “wait let me remember” and listed off 3 different names…none of them mine! It was the first of many good laughs we’ve had together.

Q: What’s your favorite memory with the groom?
A: The first time we really hung out, we planned to go get coffee at one of the local shops. I was expecting a quiet afternoon, and brought my backpack to do some homework and was fully expecting to be back in the library within an hour or two. WRONG! Shawn and I spent twelve hours together, drinking coffee, eating snacks, and walking around Newberg before heading back to the dining hall on campus. We really solidified our friendship then and got to know one another on a meaningful level. While it is one of my favorite memories with Shawn, I still like to joke about that time he “kidnapped me” for half a day.

Q: What is my favorite thing about Shawn?
A: My favorite thing about Shawn is how one second there’s the craziest goofball antics and then to pivot to having real, deep, and important conversations about really hard topics where we can really pour our hearts out to each other. Being able to have complete and utter joy, fun, and energy but also to be the sounding board for be harder parts of life make Shawn a rare treasure. I am incredibly lucky to have him as a friend.
