What should I do on Friday, October 25?
Join us for the Welcome Event! We are excited to kick off the weekend by welcoming our guests to the venue on Friday, October 25, 2024. Please join us at Crafts Hall at the Publick House between 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM. The Welcome Event will be serviced by a Publick House bar tender so please bring your ID if you’re going to order adult beverages, and cash for gratuities to the bartender. ***We kindly ask that you RSVP for this event by September 26, 2024 so that we can get an accurate headcount for hors d’oeuvres***
What is the parking cost and availability?
The Publick House Inn has plenty of parking on site. There is no cost for parking on-site.
What is the attire for the wedding?
Cocktail Attire. For our evening fall wedding, our ceremony will be held outside and the reception will be under a tent. We suggest that men wear a suit or sport coat in any color with a tie or bowtie, and women wear a cocktail dress, evening gown, or pantsuit. Our color scheme is fall harvest and earth tones. Bridesmaids will be wearing olive color dresses and groomsmen will be in navy suits with matching olive ties.
Will the wedding be outside?
Yes. The wedding will consist of an outdoor ceremony, outdoor cocktail hour, & tent reception. Please dress accordingly. Temperatures in late October for Sturbridge are typically lows in the mid 40s and highs in the 60s. While it is generally too early for snow, it is not unprecedented that an October snowstorm has occurred (see 2011). If inclement weather occurs, the ceremony will be moved to the tent, where there will be heaters provided.
Are dogs allowed at the venue?
Yes. We love Burt and Frankie, and we understand how coordinating pet care for a weekend away can be challenging. In planning our big day, it was important for us to consider our guests' four-legged family members, too. We are excited to share that the Publick House Historic Inn property is pet-friendly, and you do not need to leave your pet behind for the weekend in order to celebrate with us. If you are planning on reserving a room in our block, pet-friendly rooms are available upon request in the Country Lodge. There is a $25 fee for any guest room with pets. Please notify the hotel when booking, and please bring a crate/gate when you leave your pet unattended in the room for the safety of your pet and the hotel staff. Please pick up after your dog so that the Publick House can continue to confidently welcome pets.
**DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH WHEN OUTSIDE, PURSUANT TO TOWN ORDINANCE**
Are dogs allowed at the event?
Due to space and venue limitations, we are unable to accommodate pets at the ceremony or reception, itself. Enjoy the quaint Downtown Sturbridge and local hikes with your four-legged friend on Saturday morning before the event. Please pick up after your pet and abide by local leash laws.
Will there be children at the wedding?
Due to space and venue limitations, we regretfully are unable to accommodate children at our wedding. Nursing infants are welcome. Thank you for understanding.
Is it open bar?
Yes. The cocktail hour and reception will include a full service open bar. A Publick House bartender will be servicing the open bar from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM. While the venue does not set out a tip jar, please consider bringing some cash for gratuities for bar service. Additionally, be prepared to present a valid ID if you plan on ordering an adult beverage. Massachusetts law requires this. **Please note that outside alcohol at the Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, and Reception is strictly forbidden**
Can I take pictures at the ceremony?
There will be professional photographers at the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception who will be capturing the event. Following the wedding, once we receive edited and final photos, we will circulate a link to our wedding album. Guests will not need to assist in capturing the ceremony with their own equipment. Rather, guests can enjoy being present in the ceremony.
What time should I arrive on Wedding Day?
The ceremony will start promptly at 4:30 PM. Guests are encouraged to arrive prior to 4:15 PM so that everyone can find their seat.
Is there an alternative plan for inclement weather?
Yes. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all be held under the tent.
