As with many great love stories, McKenna and Matt’s begins in middle school. In the Fall of 2019, they met when McKenna was a school counselor at McAuliffe Manual Middle School and Matt began working as a 6th grade math teacher. For a long time they were just coworkers, slowly became friends, and eventually went on their first date in May of 2022.
Through a series of long walks, philosophical conversations, and exploring new places in Denver, they quickly and seamlessly grew closer by the day. When asked about their early dating days, Matt recalls being enamored with McKenna’s story telling, compassion, and genuine love for her friends and family. It did not take long for him to be fully in love with everything about her. McKenna remembers thinking Matt had “a 2/10 hairline and 4/10 humor, but also 7/10 glutes and 10/10 availability.” This was an undeniable formula for true and unconditional love.
Ever the romantic, Matt surprised McKenna with a proposal on a trip to Seattle in October of 2023. He had a clear vision of a private, romantic, intimate courthouse elopement. If you are reading this, you know how that vision played out, and have McKenna to thank for the change of plans.
When asked what they are most looking forward to over their wedding weekend, McKenna grew teary eyed thinking of all of the people they love most being in one place together to celebrate their love. Matt had a single word answer that won’t be relayed here in case children stumbled upon this site.
The happy couple cannot wait to celebrate with you. Don’t hesitate to reach out to them directly if you have questions about travel, lodging, or best places to make large cash donations.
