Things to Do

Fort Collins is an amazing, family-friendly Colorado city! We encourage all of our guests to come and spend the long weekend here or in other parts of Colorado. If you need recommendations of things to see while in town, see below. If you are hoping to travel elsewhere in Colorado after the wedding and need recommendations, don't hesitate to reach out to us! We love where we live and want all to enjoy it.

Explore Old Town Fort Collins

Fort Collins is where I (McKenna) grew up and where my family still lives! Taking Matt here for the first time was so special to me. It is such an easy place to love.

Downtown Fort Collins has plenty of shopping, great restaurants, and is just fun to walk around! Fun fact: downtown Disney was modeled after downtown Fort Collins - if you're familiar with it, you'll see the resemblance!

Some our favorite places:

- Ginger and Baker for breakfast, coffee, or a treat

- Austin's Bar and Grill for dinner with a view

- The Steakout for some true bar food and cheap drinks; don't sleep on the fries (McKenna's parents are frequent visitors)

- Walrus Ice Cream is a Fort Collins original and local favorite

- Starry Night Coffee is owned by some of our dear friends and is well worth a visit (and supporting their cause: helping individuals in our community with mental and physical disabilities learn important job skills and make an income)

Visit a Brewery or Take a Brewery Tour

Fort Collins is VERY well known for it's craft beer and breweries. These beautiful spaces are a great place to hang out for hours - and they are dog and kid friendly, in typical Colorado fashion. If you want to do a tour of New Belgium or Odell, be sure to book in advance because they fill quickly.

Odell and New Belgium are our favorites and hold some sweet dating memories for us!

Horsetooth Reservoir

Horsetooth is a Fort Collins gem! Spend the day swimming, boating, hiking, or all of the above. The water is cold, but refreshing in late August! Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the views.

The hike to the top of Horsetooth Rock is not long, but it is steep. The views from the top are worth it! If you are coming from low altitude, pack plenty of water, sunscreen, and take breaks when you need them!

Drive or Walk the Cache la Poudre River

Picture of Drive or Walk the Cache la Poudre River

The Cache la Poudre River is a big reason why Fort Collins exists! It runs through town and flows down the Poudre Canyon. If you have a few hours, you can drive the canyon along the river for however long you wish. You'll see plenty of kayakers, rafters, and tubers! There are plenty of places to pull off and swim if you're up for it or you can head to the Mishawaka to have a meal (a unique riverside restaurant in the canyon)!

If you'd rather enjoy the river in town, it runs through the north part of downtown and has plenty of EASY walking and biking trails. Enjoy!
