On November 7, 2015, Mike asked Kristy to be his girlfriend under the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor ON. And then our story began.

Where to stay

Hotels:We have worked with two hotels to provide everyone with discount codes if you choose to room at these accommodations: Caesars Windsor and DoubleTree by Hilton; both with views of the Detroit river. Note: If there are no more bookings left in either hotels, please reach out to Mike or Kristy for us to increase number of rooms for our booking code. Other Options:It is totally fine to book an AirBnb individually or as a group, book with another hotel, or stay with friends or family. We do note that if you are deciding to take the shuttle bus to and from the venue, the busses will only be making pick-ups at these two hotel locations.

Shuttle bus - Getting to/from the venue

The venue and reception are at the same place (Pelee Island Winery in Kingsville).Shuttle bus transportation to and from the venue will be provided to ensure safe passage (one for each hotel). Drinks (non alcoholic) will be provided to ensure hydration and comfort on the shuttle. Please note that the shuttle bus will be departing at set times. The below times are estimations. We will provide actual times closer to the event date. If you decide to drive, please have a designated driver. There is free parking available at the venue in the back near the reception hall. You may leave your car there overnight if you call a taxi/uber/lyft.

Riverfront Trail

Walk, run, bike along the 25km Windsor's Waterfront Trail which hugs the Detroit river with scenic views of the Detroit city skyline, large scale contemporary sculptures, and ends at Ambassador Bridge; North America's busiest international crossing. This is where Mike asked Kristy to be his girlfriend and 8 years later, asked her to spend the rest of their lives together.

Gamble and Eat at Caesars Windsor

Yes, it is the same company as Caesars Palace in Las Vegas! Very fun to explore the hotel with its grand decor and themed decorations. It also has numerous restaurants like Spago (Italian) and even a night club inside.

Fun fact: Mike used to live above the restaurant for his last year of undergrad. This was the place where Mike's friends would gather - it was basically the coffee shop in the TV show Friends.

Windsor is one of the hubs for the best pizza in the World! The International Pizza Expo have consistently ranked Windsor right up there with contenders like Italy and New York. Since Windsor and Essex County is surrounded by the Great Lakes, the temperature from the lake effect helps moderate the region's temperature over the winter and summer. The area is also on the 42nd Parallel which shares the same latitude as northern California and Rome. If you decide to go wine tasting in the area, I would recommend purchasing the "<a href="https://www.getyourguide.com/essex-l153187/tourism-windsor-essex-pelee-s-epic-wine-country-tasting-pass-t550622/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Wine Passport</a>". This passport will allow you to go to 6/10 wineries in the area for $50.

Note: Passports are needed for all individuals in the vehicle to cross the boarder.There is a toll to cross the boarder (Into America and back into Canada) that you'll pay when you get to the checkpoint. It is around $6.50 which you can pay by credit card.Before crossing the boarder, please make sure you don't bring over any restricted or prohibited items (Marijuana products, etc). If you're just crossing the boarder for a day trip you won't be able to save duty and taxes on spirits or Tabaco, but you can still purchase fragrances, jewelry and watches. You just have to declare them along with anything else you buy from regular retail shops in America. Please just declare them. Most of the time they will just roll their eyes and send you along. Better to be safe than sorry. There are two ways to cross the boarder.1. Ambassador Bridge (Not recommended due to truck traffic)2. Tunnel (Recommended). This will bring you right to DT Detroit.
