Each evening around sunset the Congress Avenue bats emerge like a black cloud from the crevices of the bridge. Flights normally occur around 8 to 8:30 pm but could be earlier or later. Best bet, call the Bat Conservation International at (512) 327-9721 for times. Pro tip: Grab a table (and a drink) at the LINE hotel outdoor patio to have a great view of the bats from the comfort of your seats.
Grab a snack, drink, and a towel and set up for a picnic at Zilker Park at this relaxing spot in the middle of the city.
Mount Bonnell is a 775-foot-high outcrop along the eastern shore of Lake Austin. Whether hiking or biking the trails, doing stand-up paddle board yoga, or taking a river cruise, you’ll find no shortage of outdoor fun to be had in the heart of beautiful downtown Austin.
In the heart of Austin is the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake, a lush, urban path that meanders along the water’s edge and passes by skyscrapers, neighborhoods, ball fields and cultural attractions.
