The Dingle Peninsula is situated in the south-west of County Kerry and Dingle town is located at the western end of the peninsula. Getting there requires a bit of effort, but once you are there you realize it is very much worth it.
There are two main roads into the peninsula:
The N86 which runs from Tralee, along the south coast of Tralee Bay, through Camp village, then over the mountains to Annascaul, Lispole and Dingle.
The R561, which runs from Castlemaine, where it connects to roads from Kerry Airport, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. The road runs along the north side of Castlemaine Harbour, to Inch beach and then via a cliff road to join the N86 just west of Annascaul.
Public transportation is possible but connections can be staggered and take some time.
Which airport should we fly into
There are two options for airports to fly into:
Shannon Airport or Dublin Airport. Shannon Airport is going to be the closest to Dingle, it's a 2.5 hr drive, but flights tend to be more expensive. While Dublin Airport is a cheaper flight, the drive to Dingle is 4.5 hrs.
There will be options to stay at the hotel where the wedding is. We recommend looking at the all the options which include, Bed and Breakfasts, Cottages to rent, AirBnb, Etc. We highly recommend planning your stay early because the summer months are the busiest and everything books up quickly.
