Things to Do in Vail

There's something for everyone in Vail Valley and this list is in no way exhaustive! These suggestions are some of our favorites that are easily accessible from town. If you're looking for something more adventurous, let us know - we might have some recommendations for you!

Berrypicker Trail

By no means the only hike in the Vail area, the Berrypicker Trail is one of the easiest to access and offers a lot of bang for your buck both in terms of views and a great workout. The trail begins near Lionshead Village and if you do this hike while the gondola is running, you can choose to skip either the uphill or downhill portions of the hike by taking the gondola. (Note that taking the gondola up costs money but taking it down is free!)

Gore Valley Trail

The Gore Valley Trail is a 12-mile paved route open to cyclists, walkers, and runners. The trail winds through open space, parks and recreation facilities, as well as Vail’s core village areas. The trail is named after the creek that meanders its way through Vail Valley and is a beautiful way to spend a few minutes or a few hours!

Vail Farmers Market and Art Show

See hundreds of Colorado-based food vendors and artisans every Sunday from 9:30 AM- 3:30 PM in Vail Village!

Vail Brewing Company

Our favorite local brewery! They have two locations: one in Vail Village and the other in Eagle Vail. You'll need a car to reach the latter, but we think it's worth it thanks to to the Rocky Mountain Taco truck parked outside.

Red Lion

Great spot in Vail Village for a casual bite. They have indoor and patio dining. Try the nachos :)

The George

A truly hidden gem, this dive bar is located underneath Vail Mountain Haus in Vail Village and has an unbeatable happy hour ($5.50 for any drink from 3-6pm every day). It's also open until 2am every day for those who want to keep the party going!

Vail Golf Club

We're looking at you, Craig.

This one's pretty self-explanatory. Tee times fill up so book early! Parking is available onsite or you can take the bus from the Vail Transportation Center.

Ride the Gondola

Enjoy views above 10,000 feet! Scenic Gondola Tickets are available for both Eagle Bahn Gondola (#19) and Gondola One (#1).

We recommend the Eagle Bahn Gondola for a few reasons: better views, there are hikes you can do at the top, and it takes you to the Adventure Center, which offers activities like tubing, a bungee trampoline, and a mountain coaster.

Betty Ford Alpine Gardens

The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens are one of the world's highest botanical gardens. Open daily from dawn until dusk. No admission fee required but donations are encouraged.
