Meeting during Virginia Tech's Fall 2018 semester while Savannah was teaching a salsa rueda lesson in front of D2 Dining Hall, she intimidated Nick with her no nonsense teaching style and "I promise I don't bite that hard" jokes. Nick joined the SalsaTech Performance team to make new friends as Savannah moved to the Executive Board so she could focus on her thesis.

It wouldn't be until the Spring 2019 semester that their paths would cross again at a SalsaTech game night when they realized they had been living right up the road from each other at Terrace View and University Terrace. Nick began driving Savannah to the various events and excursions the group planned.

Savannah invited Nick to a Game of Thrones watch party, unaware that he was repeatedly bailing on the one that was hosted at his apartment.

It became a weekly routine that Nick would come over, pick Savannah up, and they would drive to the other side of Blacksburg, theorizing about the plot of the final GOT season. They would sit together to watch each episode and then dissect their disappointment on the drive home.

A couple weeks later at a dance party at Savannah's apartment Nick suddenly bolted, making up an excuse about needing to get some sleep. He texted Corbin to ask for advice. After a long stroll down some very dimly lit streets on campus, Nick informed Corbin about "this girl" Nick needed help planning a first date for. After driving around Blacksburg Corbin and Nick went to scope out Lane Stadium and figured out how two could break in. Nick texted Savannah at 2am to ask her to break into Lane Stadium, she did not open the message because IT WAS 2 AM and Nick began to freak out.

Savannah woke up the next morning, saw the message, assumed this was just another friend activity and happily agreed as this was on her bucket list of things to do before graduation.

She did not realize this was a date.

At 11 o'clock Nick came and picked Savannah up and drove to Lane Stadium where they hopped the fence, attempted to reach the Hokie Stone and failed, and Nick pulled out a speaker to dance bachata in the center of the football field. Savannah was still fully unaware that she was on a date and kept asking Nick if he was alright because he seemed really nervous, at which point Nick broke and kissed Savannah - fearing that she was going to punch him in the face.

Only at this point did Savannah realize she was very much on a date.

Later, after hopping the fence to leave Lane Nick looked at Savannah and said, "You never answered the question."

To which Savannah informed Nick, "You never asked me a question."

"Oh, will you go out with me?"
