Our Story

Where paths Crossed

February 13th 2022, Super Bowl Sunday where the LA Rams beat the Cincinnati Bangles 23 to 20. Also Shannon's long time best friends birthday. Neither of them wanted to go home just yet. Shannon's usual Sunday night consisted of karaoke and good friends at a small tavern in Cary. Dave's typical Sunday evening would be going to bed and getting prepared for work on Monday morning. But no, not after the game, his night was not over. He walked across the street to The Corner Tavern, where he knew a few friends he recently met were enjoying Karaoke. Shortly after arriving, and joining his friend Jon Fitch, Shannon walked in, to also sit with her long time karaoke pal Jon Fitch. A quick and pleasant introduction was given. Shannon would tell you she made a new friend. Dave would call one of his best friends the following morning to tell him all about the girl he met at karaoke, as well as his plans to return to see her again.

He did in fact return, the following week to see her. Shannon sat with Dave among many friends and as Dave was bidding a farewell, someone let her know his birthday was at the stoke of midnight, to which a question popped up... "Why would he leave now? that's silly" so, Shannon made a rather incredulous face and told him to stay. Dave did not think twice about his choice. Yes, work would be difficult in the morning, but it is not everyday a person you have interest in shows it back. Later on Dave says something about 'MALK' and this sparks a recollection of a You-Tube video Shannon found funny years prior. She leans into to Dave and says " LIKE A DISEASE?!... I need your number, so I can send you a video" He sat there shocked for a moment, then happily obliged. The texts were frequent through Wednesday then silence. Shannon thought nothing of this. Dave on the other hand thought the opposite.

Sunday came around again and Shannon was already at karaoke with no sign of Dave. She was outside laughing and chatting with friends. All heads turned toward the parking lot as someone approached. Low and behold it was Dave, for someone had let him know of her presence. He walked straight up to her as he asked "Can I talk to you for a moment and get you a drink?" The conversation unfolded, "I got nervous and didn't know what to say or how to start a new conversation, I'm sorry I stopped texting you. More than a day passed and you didn't say anything so I stopped, and I just want you to know that I'm an in-person person".

Shannon found this to be one of the sweetest sentiments and decided to pursue him. A few months had passed and no formal invite to be his girlfriend had surfaced, though he had already started to refer to Shannon as such. Thus on April 20th, 2022 whilst watching 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Shannon asked Dave to be her Boyfriend. She has always liked formal invites, and still does. Dave's response started with " I thought we alre... Yes, yes I want to be your boyfriend." An anniversary was established, though they do tend to celebrate the day they met more.

Over the past 4 years they decided to move in together and start a slue of Home projects, no the cabinets have yet to be finished but they are working on it. They VOW to finish them together.

Caitlin Lourie
Caitlin Lourie - Bridesmaid

They share a love of board games as well as $500 on every monopoly trade.

Dress Code

FUNKY FORMAL

We’re calling this look “Funky Formal” — dressy but playful. Think cocktail attire with bold personality: patterned suits, textured fabrics, statement shoes, or a colorful blouse under a tailored jacket. Skip the traditional tie in favor of a brooch, bolo, or collar pin; accessories are a place to have fun. For dresses, a simpler silhouette pairs beautifully with eye-catching shoes or jewelry. It’s autumn in Waynesville, so consider layers and slightly warmer fabrics. Above all, wear something that feels both polished and unmistakably you — Shannon & David can’t wait to see your style.
