Casa Benavides Bed & Breakfast Inn

This quaint bed and breakfast is approximately a 5 minute walk from the venue. We toured it last year and give it our stamp of approval. Some guests are staying here the week leading up to the wedding and it is a good, cheaper, alternative to our resort.

Sagebrush Inn & Suites

Sagebrush is a hotel that we have stayed at on multiple occasions. It is bigger than the two above, and is older but still very nice. It is approximately a 5 minute drive to the venue, and I'm not sure how good Uber/Lyft is in Taos. Keep that in mind when booking!

Santa Fe Regional Airport

Santa Fe is about an hour and a half from Taos. It is a city of about 85,000. Flights are a bit more difficult to find into Santa Fe, but it cuts down the driving time afterward.

Albuquerque International Sunport

The largest airport in the area, the Sunport is the easiest place to find a flight into. Albuquerque is a large city and you will feel like you are landing in Milwaukee. It's about 2.5 hours to Taos from the Sunport. I think lots of guests will be flying, so carpool options may be available to those who ask.

Driving

Picture of Driving

The drive is about 19 hours from Madison. There are two suggested routes.

For efficiency: Head to Des Moines, then take I35 south through Kansas City to where it turns into I70 and then I335 after you drive through Topeka. Follow I35 "the Kansas Turnpike" into Wichita. Then head straight west on the state highways: 400 to 56/412 into New Mexico. Drive through Cimarron and you'll start to see the mountains. Take 64 all the way into Taos.

For less turns: Head to Des Moines, then continue on I80 through Nebraska until you hit I76 into Colorado. Take I76 into Denver. Skirt around the city using Colorado E470 until you pick up I25 headed due south. Follow the Rockies down through Colorado until you hit Walsenburg, CO, take HWY 160 to HWY 159 until you cross into New Mexico. You'll head due south on 522 into Taos.

On paper the route through Denver is significantly faster. You will run into a bit more traffic than Google expects. Your GPS will probably reroute you off of I80 onto 44 to 34 to 283 into Kansas. This is an acceptable route as well, and is about comparable to driving through Denver with less traffic.
