Things to Do in Southwest Montana

Start Here: Take a look at this Google Sheet I created that includes recommendations for all of SW Montana including Big Sky, Livingston, Bozeman, Ennis, etc. I have recos for restaurants, hikes, tips & tricks for Montana and Yellowstone National Park, and my sample Yellowstone itineraries: Haley's Southwest Montana Recommendations

If you have the time, I highly recommend taking a day or 2+ to drive through Yellowstone National Park since you will be right next to the North entrance while in Livingston. Additionally, you can connect through to Grand Teton National park through the South entrance and spend a day in Jackson.

Things to do in and around Livingston

Livingston Events: Check out the Livingston events calendar to see everything going on during your stay. Lots of live music!!

Guided fly-fishing float or walk-wade trips with Yellowstone River Outfitters: If you're interested in fly-fishing, I highly recommend hiring a guide, and I recommend using Yellowstone River Outfitters. Give them a call and mention you're with the Freedman/Wilson wedding group. The owner is great, and they are expecting you!

Chico Hot Springs Resort & Day Spa: Located in Pray, just south of Livingston, Chico Hot Springs offers natural geothermal pools that have been a cherished retreat since 1900. Guests can enjoy soaking in the mineral-rich waters, indulge in spa treatments, and dine at the on-site restaurant. They also have live music outside so check out the events calendar!

White Water Rafting in Yankee Jim Canyon: Experience thrilling Class II-III rapids on the Yellowstone River through Yankee Jim Canyon. This 6-mile stretch offers exciting whitewater adventures amidst stunning scenery. Several local outfitters provide guided rafting trips. There are shorter trips you can take and just hit the rapids in the beginning but if you want to raft Class III rapids and hit the good stuff, make sure you do the longer trip through Yankee Jim Canyon.

Old Saloon in Emigrant: The Old Saloon has been a cherished establishment since its opening in 1902. Originally serving travelers on the rail line to Yellowstone National Park, this historic venue has maintained its Western charm for over a century. The saloon features the original back bar, purchased in St. Louis and transported by steamboat up the Missouri River in the early 1900s. It hosts many amazing country artists all summer long. Check the events list for shows.

Spa Day at Sage Lodge Spa: My favorite spa in Montana. It's a beautiful standalone building that has an outdoor hot tub and a beautiful relaxation room.

Hike!: There are tons of beautiful hikes in and around Livingston. Do not hike without bear spray. If you're up for a serious challenge, try Pine Creek Lake. It's about 11 miles round-trip with 4,000 ft of elevation gain. It'll kick your ass! Bring lots of water and food.
