Getting to Steamboat

We are excited to host everyone this September in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We know that it is a long journey and have set out key travel details below. For those who can’t make it, we fully understand and hope to celebrate with you another time in New York or Chicago.

For those who are attending, we hope you find the below helpful and please feel free to reach out to us with any questions (Allie: 516-547-6728 Justin: 312-576-4777).

Which airport should I fly into?

The two options are Denver International Airport (DEN) or local airport, Yampa Valley Regional Airport, also referred to as Hayden (HDN). Denver is a 3-4 hour drive to Steamboat Springs. You cannot fly direct into HDN and will connect through Denver to get to Yampa Valley Regional Airport/Hayden. HDN is a 30-40 minute drive to Steamboat Springs.

Please be aware that there can be unpredictable traffic when traveling to and from Denver on a Friday and a Sunday afternoon on I-70. It is best to leave ample time in your travel plans and drive during daylight hours, keeping an eye out for wildlife near the roads.

How do I get from the airport to my hotel?

From both airports, you can rent a car or book a shuttle.

Getting to Steamboat from Denver Airport

- Rent a car from Denver Airport via Avis, Budget, or Hertz. If you are flying to Denver, we recommend renting a car as the more economical and flexible option.

- Book a shuttle from Denver Airport to Steamboat: STEAMBOAT EXPRESS runs one shuttle from Denver Airport to Steamboat departing at 12 PM local time on Thursday Sept 26 and Friday Sept 27, and a 6 AM shuttle from Steamboat to Denver airport on Sunday September 28. The price is $126.50 each way.

Getting to Steamboat from Yampa Valley Regional Airport/Hayden

- There are several shuttle companies offering both shared shuttles and private shuttles to and from HDN to Steamboat Ski Mountain. A one way trip costs ~$50-$60 each way. The shuttle companies will accommodate the timing of your flights. Our guests get a 10% discount on shuttles to/from the airport from Steamboat Express. Call 1-800-822-4844 and mention Allie & Justin on the phone.

- You can also rent a car from Budget and Avis from the Hayden Airport.

Yampa Valley Airport / Hayden (code: HDN)

Where is the cheapest airport to fly into?

Denver Airport (code: DEN), rent a car and carpool. You can also book shuttles, which are ~$126 each way.

How is the drive from Denver to Steamboat?

It's 3.5 hours and easy to follow. It is not particularly difficult or windy. About 50% of the drive is on I70 (a major interstate), while the remainder is a well trafficed 2-lane highway. WE STRONGLY ADVISE TO DRIVE DURING THE DAY TO AVOID WILDLIFE ON THE ROAD.

Is there traffic on the drive from Denver?

Sometimes - we strongly recommend leaving extra time on your return journey if driving.

Are there other airport options?

Vail Eagle Airport is a 2 hr drive to Steamboat. This doesn't help with reducing connections or prices, but American does fly to this airport. This drive is very windy but also very scenic.

If I am flying to HDN, when should I book?

The Southwest flights are reasonable currently and we would recommend booking now. The United outbound flights are reasonable. The United return flights to NYC on Sunday are currently expensive, but it is difficult to say if they will decrease.

Should I book a roundtrip or one way tickets?

The prices are similar for one-way and roundtrip itineraries currently.
