Our Wedding

After attending his cousin's wedding in Ottawa, Ontario in August, 2019, Sean decided to change his flight to stay in London an extra day before travelling back to British Columbia (this decision proved to be a great decision). The extra day allowed him to have lunch with his mom during her break at St. Joseph's Hospital in London, Ontario. It was at this time he was introduced to a number of her co-workers, but there was one who unfortunately was not there; she was up north at her family's "camp" in Chapleau, Ontario. After hearing about her and seeing some photos, Sean was shocked that this woman was single and took a keen interest. He asked his mom that the next time she sees Kalan, to let her know that her son thinks she is a pretty amazing woman and to give her his phone number. A few weeks later, Sean received an Instagram friend request from Kalan, and the two began chatting. This led to multi-hour FaceTime conversations, and 10 days after connecting, Kalan booked a flight to Victoria, BC. The rest is, as they say, history. Sean and Kalan have built a great life for themselves in London, Ontario and in July, 2024 (which also led to the 1-year wedding delay!), they welcomed Silas Douglas Donald Orr-Lynn to their family!

A few things to know about Sean...

Sean: Born in Kitchener, he spent the majority of his childhood on the family farm outside of Granton. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing hockey and baseball, and also with encouragement from his step-father, John and his mother, Sandra, participated in 4H showing beef cattle. He attended Brock University, where he completed his honours degree in Sport Management in 2008. This led him out west after accepting an internship with the 2010 Winter Olympics, followed by a 10 plus year career with BC Hockey. The west coast is a favourite spot for him, from the friendships created that will last a lifetime, to exploring everything that BC has to offer, and spending time on the beaches in Tofino. After moving back to Ontario in December, 2020, he completed an accounting degree through CPA Canada, culminating in passing the Certified Public Accountant final exam in September, 2023. He currently works as an Accountant with StarTech.com, and in his spare time he loves going on adventures with Kalan and Silas, talking about the Leafs with his great friend Trevor on the LeftCoastLeafs podcast, as well as, playing golf, baseball, and dodgeball.

A few things to know about Kalan...

Born and raised in Chapleau, Kalan grew up at Moose Horn Lodge, learning more about bear baiting than she ever wanted to. Her main extracurricular activity was figure skating, being at the rink up to 11 hours a week. She obtained a BSc in Forensic Science at Laurentian University. This was followed by an MSc in Forensic and Biological Anthropology at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she was a member of a forensic anthropology team, participating in numerous searches and recoveries and laboratory analyses of various medico-legal cases. Kalan has been working as a breast cancer clinical research coordinator for 14 years and is Mom to Silas. She uses any spare time she has to think about, obsess over, and work on home decor and home DIY projects. She lives for wintertime and loves cats. She is also a huge foodie, balancing trying out different cooking techniques and restaurants with making sure her ass still fits into her jeans. In fact, Kalan's top wedding priority was for you to enjoy great food. Kalan has been taking Spanish lessons for years and hopes to become trilingual. She is incredibly curious and inquisitive, Googling anything and everything in her quest to become a human encyclopedia.

Depending on how adventurous you are and whether you enjoy a road trip or not, there are several options for getting to Chapleau.

Driving From Southern Ontario

From London and Toronto areas, follow these directions: -Take the 401 East / 400 North/ Highway 69 to Sudbury. We recommend using the 407 to save time.-From Sudbury, take Highway 144 for about 120 km to Watershed gas station (around km marker 154 to 156). This is the last gas station before Chapleau.-Turn left onto the logging road, known as Sultan Industrial Road or the Ramsey Road. This road starts off as straight but turns windy. Take at your own risk (we do!) and note that there is no cell service on the majority of this road. Please contact us for alternate routes if you do not want to take this road.-Carefully drive this road for the 80 km stretch.-At the end of the road, turn left toward Chapleau. This is Highway 667, is about 30 km long and is paved.-At the end of the road, turn right at the stop sign onto Highway 129 North.-Drive this highway for about 15-20 minutes.-You will see signs for Moose Horn Lodge and a small sign for Sheppard and Morse Road. Turn left onto Sheppard and Morse Road. This road may be hard to find but if you come to an intersection on the highway, you have gone a few metres too far.-On Sheppard and Morse Road, keep left. Moose Horn Lodge is about 2 km down the road, on the right. Driveway number 4. From Ottawa, you can take Highway 11 to Sudbury instead. Follow the rest of the instructions above. **Note 1: It takes about 3.5 hours to get from Sudbury to Chapleau, NOT 5 hours as the map image states.** **Note 2: If you do not want to take the Sultan Industrial Road/Ramsey Road, you may proceed straight to Timmins and then follow highway 101 to Chapleau. This route takes about an extra 1 to 1.5 hours.** **Note 3: Alternatively, from Sudbury, you may take highway 17 to Iron Bridge and onto Chapleau. This will take an extra 1 to 1.5 hours. More scenic than driving to Timmins from Sudbury.**

Flying From Southern Ontario

The closest place you can fly to is Timmins: https://www.timmins.ca/our_services/airport We recommend signing up for Porter Airlines emails which allow you to catch the frequent 20% off flights discount codes (www.flyporter.ca). Porter flies from Ottawa to Toronto's Billy Bishop Airport and from Toronto to the Timmins airport quite frequently. You may also try Air Canada but Kalan highly recommends Porter Airlines. *Note: You will need to rent a vehicle in Timmins to drive to Chapleau* Another adventurous route is flying to Sudbury and taking the train to Chapleau: www.viarail.ca. Kalan took this route many times during university. Fun fact: The founder of Porter Airlines is from Chapleau and wanted to make the north more accessible.

Flying from BC

Porter Airlines flies from Victoria, BC to Toronto's Pearson International Airport. Unfortunately, Porter does not fly from Pearson to Timmins (only from Billy Bishop downtown Toronto to Timmins) so you may need to get crafty if you choose to fly Porter the entire way. Of course, Air Canada is also an unfortunate option. *Note, you will need to rent a vehicle to Timmins to drive to Chapleau*

Driving from the US

For our American guests driving from Ohio and Illinois, we recommended two routes, both of which involve crossing at Sault Ste Marie, Michigan into Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. We even converted into miles for you non-metric system-ers. Option 1 (through Wawa, Ontario): -The most picturesque drive to the camp, which lets you see spectacular scenery along the north shore of Lake Superior, is to cross the border at Sault Ste. Marie and drive north on highway 17 to Wawa. -Go east on highway 101 -Drive 80 miles East towards Chapleau-When you reach the junction of Highway 101 and Highway 129, you will see a sign to turn north (left) to Chapleau. You want to drive straight. -Highway 101 turns into highway 129. Drive about 200 yards past the Chapleau cutoff and on the right will be a Moose Horn Lodge sign (this is Sheppard and Morse Road).-Turn right on Sheppard and Morse Road and keep left at the fork.-Drive a few hundred yards to the lodge. We are located about 10 miles south of Chapleau of off Highway 129. Option 2 (through Thessalon, Ontario): -Another scenic route is to drive from Sault Ste. Marie via Highway 17 (Trans Canada Highway) to the town of Thessalon.-Turn left onto Highway 129 and drive north to Chapleau along the Thassalon River Valley. -Drive about 200 yards past the Chapleau cutoff and on the right will be a Moose Horn Lodge sign. Turn right on Sheppard and Morse Road and keep left at the fork.-Drive a few hundred yards to the lodge. We are located about 10 miles south of Chapleau of off highway 129.

How to Get Here

Moose Horn Lodge (wedding venue)

Kalan's Mom, Roxann, has kindly made the six cottages at Moose Horn Lodge available at a discounted rate for the majority of our travelling wedding guests. Availability will depend on the number of guests able to attend. Moose Horn Lodge has six large cottages with full kitchen and at least one bathroom. A couple of our larger cottages have two bathrooms and will be reserved for larger parties. Upon RSVPing to the wedding, please let us know if you are wanting to stay in the Moose Horn Lodge cottages. We will make every attempt to try to fit all guests comfortably in the cottages, keeping families and friends together when possible. We will let you know ASAP whether there will be room for you and your family, giving you enough time to find alternative arrangements. We hope that all those travelling will be able to stay on-site. Alternative Lodging

We have not yet booked a block of discounted suites in the town of Chapleau. Please come back to this page in the future for more information. You may also check Airbnb and https://thebirchtreehouse.ca/ (we cannot vouch for this, however). Chapleau does also have the Executive Suites.

Rates

For those able to stay at Moose Horn Lodge, you will be offered a discounted rate of $100 per person per night. Children under 7 are free. Children over 7 will be charged $10 each per night.

Check-In and Check-Out Dates

Cottages will be made available for you to check-in as early as Thursday, July 3, 2025. You may stay as long as you'd like, up until Saturday, July 12, 2025. Please contact Kalan to pre-arrange your booking.

The Cottages

All cottages include electric heat, hot and cold running water, pots, pans, dishes, fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee pot, utensils, propane BBQ, wifi, satellite tv. Note that the property has no cell phone service. Wifi calling will need to be enabled on your telephone. However, we encourage everyone to disconnect as much as they can.

What Else You Can Do at Moose Horn Lodge

Moose Horn Lodge is a hunting and fishing lodge located on McLennan Lake. You may wish to swim, fish, or otherwise relax on-site. Because it is located on a small lake, the lodge owner (Kalan's mom, Roxann) requests that all fish caught on the lake are released to preserve the fishery. Surrounded by many other lakes, we often encourage our guests to try different lakes for fishing. You may pre-arrange renting a boat for use on McLennan Lake or for you to transport to neighbouring lakes. Please contact Kalan's Mom at 1-877-864-5416 for inquiries related to fishing and boat rental rates.

About the Town of Chapleau

Kalan was born and raised in the small town Chapleau, Ontario and always wanted to get married where she grew up at Moose Horn Lodge. (Fun fact: you can no longer be born in Chapleau as the hospital isn't equipped for it). Nicknamed the friendliest town in the north, it is a very remote and rural northern Ontario town where people truly enjoy the outdoors during all four seasons. Home to the world's largest Crown game preserve, Chapleau also has large French and indigenous populations. The town of Chapleau is located about a 15 minute drive from Moose Horn Lodge. We are incredibly excited for the food at our wedding. During cocktail hour, six carefully crafted appetizers will be served by our caterer PARK MRKT. -Smoked salmon mousse with sourdough crostini-Chorizo, peach and manchego skewers with hot honey-Mexican street corn cups-Lamb kofta sliders-Crab cakes with curried aioli-Korean crispy rice cakes We are also excited to serve five specialty cocktails that were crafted just for our wedding. -Blueberry buck (AKA Grandpa's Drink)-Mulled pear mule-Jalapeño lime margarita-Strawberry lychee spritz-Smoked apple &amp; rum smash The full bar will also be open. The three-course main meal will follow cocktail hour. In case you still want more food, PARK MRKT will be serving pizza later on in the evening!

Option 1 - Sicilian Fennel &amp; Mandarin Salad. Fennel, mandarin slices, kalamata olives, oregano, toasted pistachio. Option 2 - Caprese Salad Cherry tomato, bocconcini, aged balsamic, fresh basil.

Course 2

Option 1 - Braised Beef Short Rib Served with mashed potato, spiced confit carrots, and a red wine demi-glace. Option 2 - Chicken Roulade Deboned whole chicken served with mashed potato, roasted Brussels sprouts, and a chicken butter sauce. Option 3 - Seared Salmon Seared salmon with a maple &amp; mustard glaze. Served with asparagus tossed in a charred leek vinaigrette, and cauliflower purée.

Option 1 - Sticky Toffee Pudding Date cake, salted caramel ice cream, toffee sauce.
