56 Days To Go!

1. What is the dress code?

Typical wedding attire. Be comfortable but don't wear white like an asshole. The terrain at Moose Horn Lodge is pretty rocky so heels might not be the best option. Consider wedges or block heels if you want the height.

2. Will there be speeches?

Yes! But we'll try to keep them short and sweet. If you'd like to say a few words, please let us know ahead of time. We're hoping for roasts over toasts!

3. What's for dinner?

We have worked closely with our caterer, PARK MRKT, to come up with a delicious and varied menu. Before the wedding date, you'll be sent an electronic invite to select your appetizer, main, and dessert. We're VERY excited about the options. At that time, you can also let us know about food restrictions. We know of most people's food restrictions and have tried to take that into account when designing the menu.

4. What about drinks and alcohol?

We will be having an open bar. We're also very excited to let you know that we've worked with our caterer PARK MRKT to create a few signature cocktails for the event. This will include virgin cocktail options!

5. What is this about a poem?

As a fun little twist, we invite our guests to write a limerick poem about the couple or anything relating to them. The funnier the better. We'd love for you to come up and say your poem during dinner.

Limericks are five-line poems.

The first, second, and fifth lines rhyme.

The third and fourth lines rhyme.

The first line usually introduces a person or place.

The third and fourth lines set up a silly story and are usually shorter than lines one, two, and five.

The end usually has a punchline or surprise twist. Often crass.

An example stolen from Bridget Jones's diary:

There once was a woman from Ealing

Who had a peculiar feeling

She lay on her back

And opened her crack

Then pissed all over the ceiling

6. Do you have a registry?

At this point, we don't have a registry. We are currently putting money aside to purchase a new family vehicle and are hoping to upgrade the house and save for a future honeymoon. Contributions toward these goals would be greatly appreciated. Home Depot/Lowe's gift cards and the like would also be good ideas.

7. Can I bring my pet?

Sorry, no pets allowed at this event or venue (other than those that live on the property).

7. Is there anything else I should know about the property?

Here are just a few things: Moose Horn Lodge is also Kalan's family home. We expect everyone to treat the property with the utmost respect. In the cottages, smoking is not allowed. Footwear also needs to be removed at the door. Unfortunately, Chapleau does not have a recycling system so we encourage you to try to use as little plastic as possible. For example, the tap water is safe to drink so there is no need to purchase plastic water bottles. McLennan Lake has clear, clean water which is great for swimming. Bring your pool noodles, floaties, or whatever you wish for swimming and hope for good weather!
