Madelyn and Drew met each other in middle school in Kingwood, Texas. During high school, Madelyn and Drew became closer friends and started hanging out more frequently. They discovered a shared love for music, laughter, animals, and generally having a good time. The summer before Drew went off to college at Ole Miss (Drew is a year older than Madelyn), Madelyn, Drew, and their close friends spent the weekend at their friends' lake house (shoutout to The Stephens fam!). After returning back to Kingwood to enjoy the final days of summer before Drew went to college, Madelyn and Drew then determined they might be more than just friends. Madelyn came to visit Drew at Ole Miss a couple of times during her senior year of high school. Drew traveled back to Kingwood to surprise Madelyn for her homecoming dance. However, given the distance, they decided to forego dating seriously at this time. Somehow the following year, Madelyn ended up going to college at Ole Miss as well ;). In Madelyn’s junior year of college, Madelyn decided to ask Drew to her sorority formal. After that evening, eventually, (emphasis on eventually), Madelyn and Drew started seriously dating. Post-college in 2015, Madelyn decided she was going to get her Master's of Accounting at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Drew helped Madelyn move into her apartment in Boulder, and due to his love for skiing and the mountains (and maybe Madelyn?) decided to later move to Boulder as well. Fast forward to 2024, almost 9 years later, Madelyn and Drew currently live in Broomfield, Colorado with their two lop-eared rabbits, Dixie and Milo (Dixie and Milo were 9 years old when they went to bunny heaven in 2024). Madelyn and Drew enjoy golfing together, cooking (and eating out), listening to records (still), and enjoying the mountain views in Colorado.

In April 2023, Drew was in Kingwood visiting his family. He went to Madelyn's parents' house (Jan and Larry) to ask for her hand in marriage. Jan and Larry said, “about damn time!” In all seriousness, they were over the moon. Madelyn, being an external auditor, has busy summers with an audit that typically wraps up at the end of September. Drew contacted Madelyn's audit team (secretly) to tell them that he wanted to propose and asked if they would let Madelyn take some time off of work. They agreed to let Madelyn take off a few extra days following Labor Day weekend. Drew planned a golf trip to Grand Junction (one of Madelyn and Drew's favorite places in Colorado). On September 2, 2023, Madelyn and Drew played one of their favorite golf courses, Redlands Mesa, and on the 18th hole, Drew proposed to Madelyn (and she said yes!). Madelyn and Drew drove the golf cart to the clubhouse where Madelyn was surprised to see that Drew had also arranged for her parents and his parents to fly in for the trip! They then all spent the weekend (and Madelyn learned of her extra time off!) in Grand Junction playing golf, visiting wineries, and enjoying the cows at their Airbnb.
