What should I wear?

The dress code for the ceremony and reception is formal attire. Our reception venue is very mountain-chic, western, and rustic, so feel free to embody the vibe with your outfit! Also, refer to the weather Q&A below for more clothing/accessory tips.

When should I make my hotel reservation?

We recommend making your hotel reservations ASAP. This is a very popular time of year in the mountains and the Vail/Beaver Creek area gets booked up quickly! See the "Lodging" tab for more information.

Are kids invited?

Although we love your children, the wedding ceremony and reception are adult-only events.

Can I bring a plus one?

Due to limited capacity, plus ones are only invited if specified on the invitation.

Will there be parking at the ceremony and the reception?

There is very limited parking at the Beaver Creek Chapel (ceremony location). We suggest that you park at the Gerald R. Ford Hall on the left just before you get to the chapel. You will have to move your car post-ceremony if you park at the chapel, so parking at Ford Hall will be easiest. If you are staying within the Beaver Creek village, our recommendation instead of driving would be to take the free Village Connect bus from your hotel/lodging to the ceremony, as the buses are very reliable and convenient! SaddleRidge (reception venue) has NO PARKING. You will NOT be able to drive to the reception venue. Village Connect buses will be taking guests from the chapel to the reception venue after the ceremony.

What should I know about the Beaver Creek buses and Uber/Lyft?

The Beaver Creek Village has a free bus system called the "Village Connect". The buses run from 7 AM to midnight each day within the Beaver Creek Village. Typical wait time for a bus is anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Download the Village Connect app to use this service (the app is great and easy to use - just like an Uber or Lyft app!). These buses are an excellent way to go to/from your hotel within the village to breakfast/lunch/dinner/shopping, or to the chapel for the ceremony. Refer to the "Airport & Transportation" tab for additional information. Please note that Uber and Lyft are available in Beaver Creek, but they are not very reliable given that there are not as many drivers in the mountains. They also tend to be more expensive than usual.

Are there any other helpful tips for our trip to Beaver Creek?

Make sure to be aware of hotels or AIR BNB's/VRBO's that have "Beaver Creek" in the name or title that may not actually be located in the village. These hotels/lodging options are usually located in Avon, Edwards, and Eagle and not within the village itself (despite being a short distance away). The free Village Connect buses only run within the Beaver Creek village and will not pick up or drop off outside of the gates of Beaver Creek (unless you are staying at the Ritz Carlton in Bachelor Gulch, which is the only exception to this as they have their own bus system). If you are staying outside of the Beaver Creek village, there are public bus routes (separate from the Village Connect) that can drop you off at the Elk Lot within the Beaver Creek village. From there, you can use the Village Connect app to go wherever you'd like using the village buses once you've entered the gates.

What is the weather like this time of year? Should I bring anything specific?

September in the mountains has varying temperatures. Typically, the highs in Beaver Creek at the end of September are between 60-70 degrees. Lows in the evenings can be 30-40 degrees. Please make sure to bring warm clothing and plan to wear layers. Don't forget to bring sunscreen and sunglasses. Colorado has 300+ days of sunshine per year, and you are much closer to the sun in the mountains. Hand lotion and chapstick are also essentials for the dry climate in Colorado!

What is traffic like on I-70 if coming from DEN airport or Denver area?

If you are driving up to Beaver Creek from the DEN airport or Denver metro area, you will take Interstate 70. The traffic up and down the mountain can be very unpredictable, as I-70 is the main road used to get to ski towns and they are a popular destination. Traffic can extend your driving time by at least 30 minutes to 1 hour on Friday evenings, Saturday mornings, and Sunday afternoons. Give yourself plenty of buffer if you are driving during those times.

What is all the fuss about high altitude?

Beaver Creek is 8,000+ feet above sea level. If you are not used to high altitude, while it may seem crazy, you can experience headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, and/or shortness of breath. Make sure to drink plenty of water before traveling to Colorado and while you are visiting! Water is the key to avoiding altitude sickness. Foods high in potassium are also helpful when visiting high-altitude locations (bananas, broccoli, avocado, potatoes, etc.). If you plan to do any hiking or physical activity while visiting, take it slow and have proper food/water with you. You will find yourself more out of breath in the altitude even when doing similar activities that you may do at home. It is no surprise that many professional athletes train in Colorado to increase their endurance!
