A Cake Life

This cake was beautiful!! We ordered the orange creamsicle flavored cake with the vanilla buttercream and it was hands down the best cake we've ever had. It was so moist and fluffy and the flavor was delicious! It was also such a unique (and well loved by us) flavor to offer and we got so many compliments. The design of the cake was so elegant and tropical, we loved everything about it. Definitely will order again for future events.

Our cake was perfect. I wanted just a small one-tier coconut cake for bride/groom and attendants and then we had sheet cakes in the same flavor for our guests. It was perfect! And the design with the "aloha" sign pulled it all together and made for a beautiful, yet simple, display. A Cake Life was also very easy to work with and timely in responses as we first only had the one-tier cake, later added the sheet cakes, and later asked for delivery once i realized how insane our day was going to be (lesson learned, pay for cake delivery). I was planning a Hawaii wedding from South Dakota and could not have been more pleased with the service and assistance from A Cake Life. Thank you!

Our wedding cake & cupcakes were done beautifully & were delicious! However, I have to knock down 2 stars due to Kristin Kato’s unprofessionalism during the process of ordering it. After carefully picking out the design & flavors of our cake & cupcake, I submitted an order request in October 2022. My then fiancé & I were out of state, & our parents kindly agreed to give her the moneys for the order on our behalf. I stated that the payment should be paid in full by the end of November 2022. Long story short - a slew of personal life events happened, & I was not notified that the payment was not received. My Aunt/Wedding Coordinator followed up in the beginning of January 2023. My cousins were meaning to add some surprises to my order as their wedding gift to us. However, Kristin was unfortunately snide in her replies. I understand that she never got the payment, but there was no form of follow up whatsoever until my Aunt inquired. I even sent an apology over the miscommunication, & she did not respond until we brought up payment again. After convincing Kristin to not increase the delivery fee (per website it’s $50), we finally paid the invoice in full. So, “thanks” Kristin for not only being rude and incapable of decent communication, but also ruining the surprise. It’s a shame knowing that you were so sweet & easy to work with in the beginning.Oh well, everyone was happy on our wedding day. For those of you reading my experience, I just want to clarify that I still recommend A Cake Life to cater your cake, cupcakes, & other sweets for your special event. However, I would not recommend doing business personally/directly with Kristin Kato.

The cake was PERFECT! It tasted incredible, it looked amazing and they delivered it and set it up with no problem. They were the best, we HIGHLY recommend using A Cake Life.

The customer service with A Cake Life was horrendous. Every communication from them was so rude and passive. If you're looking for a friendly place to book your dessert this is not it. However, if you're just looking for good dessert, then book through A Cake Life. The desserts were good, but working with them was so hard that I wouldn't recommend.

Kristin did a beautiful job of creating what I asked for even though we never met in person. I sent her pics of what I wanted and Kristin made it happen. Our wedding cake was beautiful and just what we wanted and our guests raved on how good the cakes tasted!

Our cake was STUNNING! The cake and cupcakes were DELICIOUS! The communication was amazing upfront but the week before the wedding we had some difficulty getting in touch to set up a delivery time. Otherwise was super easy to work with, payments were easy to make, and the cakes were gorgeous and delicious. Would totally recommend and use again!

I highly recommend A Cake Life for your wedding or event! We had a destination wedding on Oahu and despite living in a different time zone, Kristin was easy to communicate with and made the entire process seamless. Her creativity and artistry are unmatched. She created a beautiful custom design for our wedding cake in our wedding color palette and set up an amazing dessert bar display of assorted items, such as monogram macarons and cupcakes with flower petal icing. We were even able to rent some beautiful rental pieces from A Cake Life to complete the display. Everything looked stunning and tasted delicious. Our guests loved the chocolate and coconut cake, as well as the lilikoi cream puffs!

Kristin is very responsive. The frosting on our wedding cake was sweeter than we had remembered when we did the tasting, but the actual cake was good. The only thing that we were disappointed about was that we were told that all the delivery slots were booked on our wedding date (after inquiring about it almost 11 months before our wedding). After checking up every few months to see if there were any openings for delivery or if there was any other way they could help us, we had to downgrade to a 2 tier cake so that we could go and pick up our wedding cake ourselves. Luckily, our wedding cake made it safely in one piece to our wedding venue.

A Cake Life truly made our wedding dessert dreams come true! Kristin was very quick at responding to all of my emails and provided exactly what we wanted for our wedding. I appreciated how Kristin would provided links or example photos of different desserts and cakes, which made things easier for us to plan from a distance for a destination wedding. She was very accommodating throughout the entire planning process and was is very detailed in all of her responses. The display and desserts were absolutely beautiful. Kristin and her team did an amazing job. Our favorite was our wedding cake that was guava with lilikoi filling! So delicious and stunning as well! I loved how she was able to coordinate with our florist for our wedding to match the florals/greenery on our wedding cake. turned out so beautiful! Not only was our cake delicious but all the dessert alongside it as well! Our wedding guests and party were also very satisfied with the desserts and loved that there was a variety of different options for them to choose from. I highly recommend having A Cake Life as one of your vendors for your wedding! You will not be disappointed!

I took my coordinators advice about hiring this company for our wedding desserts, and SO happy we did! They had great options, and very affordable. They delivered the cake and desserts during dinner, so they were still cold and fresh. We got the white cake with lilikoi filling and OH MY GOD it was incredible. The coconut cupcakes were amazing, I ate like 8 of them the next day haha. The kids loved the donuts, and everything from flavor to design was spot on.

The entire process from beginning to end was so easy. Kristin responded quickly to my email and we were able to set up a pick-up date for her sample box! It was so hard to choose which flavor we wanted (they were all SO YUMMY) but you can pick different flavors for each tier which I was happy to hear! In the end, we decided to go with guava and lilikoi. We opted for a pretty simple design and just had our florist add on the cascade of flowers and our cake topper. It turned out so beautiful and I couldn't be happier about it! We saved the top tier for us to eat on our 1 year anniversary, I can hardly wait to eat it again (=

I ordered my wedding cake and a dessert bar with them and it all was so good. We got cream puffs, donuts, and cupcakes which all tasted amazing. Our cake tasted great and fresh, and was designed so beautifully

Kristin is very responsive and helped us throughout the whole process of selecting the perfect wedding cake for us! We went with a simple two-tier cake and added on a custom cake topper. The whole cake was lilikoi. Let me tell you, best cake ever! Our guests couldn't stop raving about the cake and went back for seconds and even thirds! We barely had any leftovers. You definitely can't beat the quality and taste of the cake and a definite bonus is the customer service and support from Kristin and her team. Definitely recommend A Cake Life! The only recommendation I have due to COVID is that because our tasting was take-home samples, I think maybe following up with a phone would be a great way to connect with customers during the tasting process. If we had chosen multiple flavors or had more tiers, it might be overwhelming doing the tasting without immediate help and feedback!

We had A Cake Life for our wedding cake and desserts. Truly, unbelievable! Not your typical stale wedding cake, the cake was fresh and all baked goods we had for the wedding were raved at by our guests. Highly, highly recommend.

I ordered a cake for my wedding in March 2022 and it was delicious! Kristen was also very easy to communicate with via e-mail - her responses were very timely. The cake design was exactly what we wanted (semi-naked) and she stuck to our colour theme for the flowers. I would definitely recommend A Cake Life for your wedding!

A Cake Life’s cake and desserts were the cherry on top of our perfect wedding day. We tried a few bakeries while we were in HI a few months prior to our wedding; and A Cake Life’s cakes were the best! The wedding cake design was beautiful! The dessert bar was so cute! The desserts must have been good, because they were all gone and we had none left over by the end of the night. Thank You Kristin for being apart of our big day and making such delicious desserts!

A cake life made my cake for my wedding up at Kualoa ranch. I wanted a hawaii flavor cake so I stuck with the pineapple coconut flavor and WOW it was amazing. The consistency of the cake was very light. I’m pretty sure it was the best cake I have ever had. It was so good that we took the rest back to our hotel and ate it the next day with the family. In addition to the flavor, the presentation of the cake was beautiful.

I have experienced and ordered several cakes from A Cake Life over the last few years. Most recently, we ordered a cake and dessert bar for my own wedding, and Kristin delivered (again) after the 1 year delay due to COVID-19. Everything from the design discussion, conceptual drawings to the actual delivery of the cake and the dessert bar was perfect. We had a flawless experience previous with my brother's wedding and this was no different. Frankly, we explored other options for our wedding in an attempt to be "different" from my brother's wedding, but after reviewing other options, A Cake Life still won out on a number of factors, but especially professionalism and flavors. The attention to detail was fantastic, delivery was flawless, and flavors delicious. A few tasting notes: 1. Strawberries N’ Cream (Yellow Butter Cake + Fresh Strawberry Cream) - this was light, fresh, and the strawberry chunks made it even better. 2. The Classic (Yellow Butter Cake + Lilikoi Cream) - also light and fresh, but the Lilikoi had a tarty tang that made it really memorable and Hawaiian 3. Chocolate Oreo (Devil’s Food Chocolate Cake + Cookies n Cream) - a tad bit sweeter, but was nice because the chocolate wasn't overpowering

If you’re looking for a wedding cake vendor, look no further. Before our wedding was postponed due to COVID, we met with Kristin for a cake tasting and she gave us her full attention (although we know how busy she is!) The bento cake tasting was the move as we got to try all of the possibilities! We went with the Amuse bar and 3 tiered cake, and everything was beautiful and delicious. We got to have our dream beautiful, delicious cake!

Kristin and her team from A Cake Life are absolutely fabulous and talented. We had our destination wedding and celebrated my son's birthday in Oahu so we ordered two cakes from them! We had the pleasure of meeting Kristin when she delivered my son's Minecraft cake and to be honest--I was so blown away from how awesome the cake turned out and that she personally delivered it. I was a bit star struck. LOL! Thank you for taking the time out of your incredibly busy day to deliver us the cake, Kristin! Both cakes she made for us were delicious. Our guests at the wedding kept raving about how delicious and wonderful the cupcakes were. We didn't get to do any taste testing before we went to Oahu and we have absolutely no regrets about going with A Cake Life. We follow their Instagram and can't wait until we go back to Oahu and get to have some more of their delicious desserts! Thank you again Kristin and team for everything!!

Super delicious wedding cake and cupcake for my wedding! We were able to pick 2 flavors, guava for the top tier and strawberry cream for the second tier. Decor was exactly how I described and pictured it. Cupcakes were great too! 24 cupcakes with icing on top.

Kristin was amazing to work with! She offered to send cookies for our rescheduled (now off island) wedding which came out BEAUTIFULLY! They took such care with packaging that not a single cookie was broken - all the way to Boston! We are so happy with our cookie surprise from Oahu.

We were more than happy with our wedding cake by A cake life ! They had some beautiful designs to choose from but I was able to customize flavor color and decorations. It turned out so amazing all our guests were complimenting how amazing it looked ! Kristin was wonderful to work with too always prompt to email replies and was flexible in delivery... they were able to deliver the cake to the beach instead of the reception and we are so pleased with the extra effort they went through to make the bride happy!

I inquired via their website & they responded within a couple days. Kristin asked a lot of questions about what we would like and also offered a cake bento ( COVID taste testing). We got to choose 5 flavors (or 6 I can’t remember) we were interested in trying for the bento. She followed up the same day we received the bento to see if we made our decisions. Even though they prefer to supply the flowers, they were open to using the flowers supplied by our florist (our florist contacted her personally to make sure it was okay and to schedule dropping them off a couple days before the wedding). The design ended up exactly how I wanted it to and looked beautiful! They also offer cake toppers! Plus everyone who ate the cake said it was delicious, which we also agreed! Just a heads up response via email can be delayed and take a couple days for a response, so if it’s important I would suggest you call!

We were fortunate enough to have our wedding prior to this pandemic and were so grateful to have A Cake Life serve our wedding cake and desserts! We chose one of their dessert packages to accommodate all of our guests. We enjoyed meeting with Kristin prior to our big day to do a tasting and see what design options were possible. Honestly, they can do almost anything you can dream of! Kristin drew us up a design on the spot and made it come to life on our wedding day! Everything was delicious and looked great at our venue! We only wish we would have had more or leftovers to take home and enjoy again after! We have since ordered other cakes and desserts from A Cake Life for other birthdays and holidays to help us celebrate and have been pleased with all of our orders. If you are looking for something fun to do during the shutdown, they do offer cute cookie decorating kits that are fun for everyone!

BEST. WEDDING. CAKE. EVER!!! My husband & I eloped in Oahu & chose 'A Cake Life' to prepare our wedding cake, as they came highly recommended from our photographers [Aloha Zoe Photography]! Our wedding cake was a beautiful one tier coral buttercream cake, marble flavored, and decorated with tropical florals! It was a work of art & a joy to eat. To this day we wish we could've brought it back to California with us. We defiantly plan to order from them again to celebrate our 1 yr anniversary.

In he midst of this CoVid 19 we were forced to cancel our July wedding plans in Honolulu. I had ordered our wedding cake from this bakery and they are unwilling to provide a refund in the midst of these extenuating circumstances and global crisis. Poor judgement on their part, for a few hundred dollars they have tarnished their reputation.

My partner and I went to beautiful Hawaii to get married (we are from Australia) and got in touch with Kristin to make our wedding cake, we had an idea of what we wanted but weren’t sure if it was possible but the team did an amazing job and we were extremely happy with our cake! :)

Bottom line up front...It aesthetics is your top priority and you don't care about customer service and are ok with a generic tasting cake, this would be a fine option. The beaucake wastiful. It tasted just ok in my opinion (about the same quality as a Costco cake). Attitude of staff was constant with other one star reviews found on Google. Staff was not friendly and a bit awkward during our tasting. I would expect a little more joy and excitement when coming in and doing a cake testing for my wedding. However, the main reason for my complete dissatisfaction with this vendor is their payment policy. If you decide to go with A Cake Life, please make sure you read the contract carefully. Payment in full is due two weeks in advance. There is a $10 per day late fee. We made final payment, ten days prior to our wedding. Therefore we were charged an additional $40. The contract clearly states this fee however when I explained that we got caught up in wedding planning and asked if this could be waived, I received the same dry customer service and the owner said there was nothing she would do.

Our cake was so beautiful and tasted incredible. They were so easy to work with as we were planning from the mainland. They made the process so easy and even opened their doors to us to pickup our cake on a Monday (as they’re typically closed) since that was the day of our wedding. I couldn’t have asked for better customer service. Our cake was perfect and I can’t recommend them enough!

I love a A Cake Life! Not only do I love their desserts, but I loved their team. I'm not a huge dessert person, but I knew my guests were so I needed to find the best dessert team available. They came highly recommended and now I know why. Not only are their desserts delicious, but their designs are amazing. Take a look at their instagram and you can see the craftsmanship. As someone who is not a dessert person, but loves artistry, I just knew i would get the perfect dessert bar. I decided to go unconventional and created a Harry Potter-themed wedding bar. I helped supply some of the decor and they delivered on the designed desserts. Everything looked amazing. My guests got amazing desserts and I got a beautiful display. It's probably the most memorable moments of my wedding and the one that I'm most proud of because out of all the basic wedding shenanigans, the dessert bar really showed who my husband and i were as characters. Thank you A Cake Life! And thank you Kristin for coming to our wedding to help set up. This lady had surgery the day of my wedding and she still made it to make sure the design turned out flawless. Talk about dedication and love for her job!

We had Kristin and A Cake Life create our wedding cake and favors for the guests, which were pineapple cookies, all for our wedding in October 2019. A Cake Life was actually recommended by a friend, and for good reason. Although we were planning this Honolulu wedding from out of state, Kristin made everything easy. From start to finish, everything was handled with ease, she was communicative, and we couldn't have asked for a better result on the day of. The cake and cookies were also DELICIOUS, and we got rave reviews. I highly recommend - and all the rave reviews here are absolutely no surprise! Thank you Kristin and team for all your beautiful and hard work!

We ordered a two-tier semi naked cake decorated using our wedding florals with the flavors classic lillikoi and coconut pineapple. The flavor combinations were delicious both individually and together. We also ordered 3 dozen mini cupcakes with the flavors of guava-guava, marble raspberry, and chocolate peanut butter. Although my husband and I did not get a chance to try the cupcakes, our guests absolutely loved them and were a hit with the kids! The cake was delivered on time, setup promptly, and was designed as planned. I would recommend A Cake Life for any cake or dessert needs, especially if you’re planning a destination wedding :).

We recently had “A Cake Life” do a dessert table at my daughters wedding. I would give them 10 stars if I could! The table was beautiful and full of inviting desserts and the best part: THEY WERE DELICIOUS !! We thought we had purchased too many desserts BUT :) they were all eaten :) they also did the wedding cake.... it was beautiful!!

We could not have been happier with our wedding cake!! We chose a two tier naked cake with cookies and cream for the top layer and pineapple coconut for the bottom layer. Both are out of this world, but the pineapple coconut was by far the biggest hit! The cake is so moist and light. The flavors were not over powering, but not too subtle. Our cake was absolutely out of this world!!

A Cake Life made a three tier cake for our July wedding and it was great to work with them. They knew the venue and wedding planner well, were extremely fast to respond to emails and questions, understood what we wanted for a simple design and made a cake that looked and tasted great on the day. If I could do it again, I might have just asked for slightly less icing on the outside of the cake, it came it at nearly 2 inches thick and most people had to scrape a bit off. I wasn’t able to do a tasting with the company as I don’t live on the island so I can’t fault the company for this, I’m sure if I had asked for it they would have happily accommodated.

Kristin from A Cake Life was the best! We did a destination wedding in Hawaii and didn't taste a thing prior to ordering, but ordered a coconut cake with guava cream frosting and it was outstanding, everyone loved it. We did a small decorated cake for ourselves and the cake cutting and then ordered a large, pre-cut sheet cake for our guests. We had a fishy theme so I asked her to create edible triggerfish cake toppers. I sent her some artistic pictures of what I had in mind. It was a masterpiece!!! She had crafted them, complete with scales and vibrant colors. Kristin and her staff are artists. If the cake wasn't so delicious I would have had a hard time wanting to eat their beautiful creation. We ate the leftovers poolside the next morning. Highly recommend A Cake Life for any event!

If you want the best, choose Kristin at a Cake Life now! She created a masterpiece in our wedding cake! It was a two-tiered customized globe on top with a suitcase on bottom for our travel-themed wedding. Not only did it look amazing but it tasted fabulous! We matched the cake with two dozen cupcakes, which were also AMAZING! Everything was so easy from the tasting at the beginning all the way to the wedding day. Kristin is a great listener and responds very promptly to emails. Choose Kristin! You won’t regret it!!

Kristin was amazing! I was so busy during the wedding day that I didn’t get a chance to see the dessert table until the reception when everyone else saw it and I was blown away! It was everything I imagined and more! Kristin is very quick to respond and answer any questions you may have, and I had a lot considering this was a destination wedding for me! What about the taste? Oh my god phenomenal!

Kristin and her team is extremely talented! We are still getting compliments on our cakes and desserts. So much that our guests were fighting and stealing each other's pieces of cake! Thank you guys for an amazing dessert bar and wedding cake!

For my husband and I, it was not about the look of the cake or the layout of the dessert spread. It was about how great everything tasted. We decided to go with A Cake Life because they had nothing but great reviews. Mind you, we were going in blindly at first because our wedding was a destination wedding. About a year from our wedding (we were in Hawaii for a wedding anyway), we booked a tasting with ACL through their website and we chose about 6 of their signature flavors to try. The worst part was narrowing down the flavors to what we wanted because each flavor tasted so good! They weren’t too sweet or too heavy either! Kristin also designed the cake based on what our vision was—as we were talking she was already drawing and coloring. She also designed the layout for the dessert spread right then and there also. We went with a MIDI Dessert Table: a 2-tier cake, cupcakes, mango crème brulees, cake shooters, donuts, and macarons. Everyone could not stop talking about the dessert! ESPECIALLY the macarons! They were the best macarons we’ve ever had! We loved that ACL was within our budget and that they were flexible. When they came out with the mango crème brulees, we e-mailed them right away if we could do a swap out of something and they were able to accommodate. They are very responsive by e-mail also. We loved working with ACL and we would highly recommend them for anyone looking for great tasting desserts and cake that work with your budget!

Our wedding planner recommended A Cake Life and we're so glad that she did! We loved that they had the bento box tastings so we could sample at home - so convenient! The only challenge was in picking flavors, they were all delicious! On our wedding day, the cake was delivered to the North Shore perfectly and both looked and tasted even better than what we could have imagined. We're so gracious to have worked with such a talented, friendly, and accommodating team!

Planning a wedding remotely from Australia was a challenge within itself but choosing A Cake Life for our cake vendor (referred by Luana Events) was a fantastic decision. Our cake was simple as requested, SO delicious I wish we could have taken it all home to enjoy after the wedding. After following A Cake Life on Instagram we saw what incredible work they're capable of and decided to order these ADORABLE pineapple cookies to add to the welcome kits made for our wedding guests. It was easy to correspond, pay and pick up the cookies and have the wedding cake and topper delivered without a hitch! We would 150% recommend A Cake Life to anyone needing a professional, delicious and reasonably priced wedding cake. Thank you A Cake Life for contributing to our special day!

We did a destination wedding and was not able to try the cake before the wedding but heard great things about A Cake Life, so thought we'd try it!. We asked for a simple 3 tiered naked cake for our wedding and it was super pretty. We ordered two different kinds of cake: strawberries and cream and lolikoi (passion fruit). We unfortunately were not able to try the loliloi cake but the strawberry cake was good. It was very light and not too sweet. Overall, we were happy.

Loved A Cafe Life! The flavors were amazing and the design was perfect! Reasonably priced as well, and everything was easy with Kristin!

My wedding planners from Cherished in Hawaii Weddings recommended A Cake Life to me. I checked out their website and Instagram, and I was sold! Their variety of flavours and cake designs were what attracted me, along with their affordable prices and package deals! I live in Toronto so I was not able to taste the cakes beforehand, but I was not disappointed on my wedding day! They made such a beautiful and tasty wedding cake along with cupcakes for my big day! I chose a variety of flavours such as strawberries and cream, lilikoi (passionfruit), coconut pineapple, chocolate Oreo cupcakes, and marble and raspberry cupcakes. Everyone couldn't wait for us to cut the cake so that they could start devouring the desserts! I don't think I got to try them all because I was busy, but I made sure my planners packed me leftovers so that I could stuff my face with them post-wedding, when I no longer had a dress to fit into anymore lol! They were absolutely delicious, especially the lilikoi! I have to mention how much I loved the tropical florals they used to decorate the cake; they totally got my vision, and the cake really tied in with the rest of my decor! I also provided them with a porcelain Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel figurine to use as cake topper, which they handled with extreme care. The cute cats made it back home safely! Kristin from A Cake Life was very quick to respond to my emails and very easy to work with! She was very friendly and accommodating. I wish A Cake Life continued success. Huge mahalo to their team!

From the very first consultation to the delivery of the cake at our wedding venue, A Cake Life was so great. We wanted an elegant, three tiered cake with succulents cascading down the side and a personal touch of our dog eating the cake at the bottom. Based on their instagram page, we know they would deliver on a beautiful cake but were unsure how the dog would turn out. When my husband and I saw the cake for the first time, we were AMAZED at how well they were able to sculpt our dog out of cake with just a few pictures! Not only was the cake exactly what we imagined visually, it was so DELICIOUS too! I would definitely recommend A Cake Life for any of your cake needs!
