a year ago. We weren't sure what to expect but it gave us a chance to see the portfolios of the photographers and also meet them. Like most trade shows, there were a lot of vendors to navigate through and we met several of them. When we met Nathan and saw what he could do, we knew his work stood out among the rest. We touched base several times before the wedding and discussed the plan. He had never been at our venue but had seen that he had done something similar so had to trust him. On the day of the event, he brought his co-shooter and a lighting assistant. Everything from documenting the little details of my wife getting ready to the sparkler send off, he made sure he captured every moment. The whole day was "picture perfect" and looking back on the photos now makes us smile every time.

I was fascinated with the way Nathan manipulated lighting , how he framed and composed the photos, and how he directs your gaze with his focus. His photos are not your run of the mill, stand in a line, *snap*snap* ok we're done with the photos. They're truly art. We narrowed our choice to him and another vendor and it was obvious from the phone interview he was patient, understanding, and eager to capture the moments we wanted how we wanted. On the day of he was just as we expected, understanding and patient, even considering he had been with us for 13 hours (he came to take photos of the go-kart outing I took my groomsmen to first thing in the morning). During the bridal party/family photos he was exceptional; providing concise, clear direction with our poses and keeping everyone calm despite the rush and pressure we were all under. During the reception, speeches, dancing, etc. he took the best candid, true to the moment, intimate feeling photos I could imagine. From his demeanor, to the quality of his product, to his competitive pricing, to speed of returning the photos (6 weeks in the middle of the summer when he's booked solid), we could not be more satisfied with Nathan Desch Photography or recommend him enough.

s. With the first photo we saw on his site we new instantly we had to have Nathan photograph our wedding. He has such a distinct and gorgeous photography style. Nathan was very easy to work with, and extremely responsive leading up to the wedding. This was especially great since we were so far away, and because of the distance, the first day we met was our wedding day. Nathan was so accommodating, nice and friendly. We are not the most relaxed in front of a camera but Nathan instantly made us feel comfortable. We had a list of photos that needed to be taken (family/bridal party... etc.) but left it up to Nathan to use his creative eye for the location of those photos at the venue. We were amazed by the creative ideas he had, they truly made every photo unique and special to us. Our photos are so artistic, we are so glad that we have such gorgeous pictures. We get complimented by everyone who has seen the photos and I highly recommend his services to everyone! He is extremely talented and has an eye for seeing things that will make absolutely fantastic pictures.

On the day of, he let us know when he'd need us, and was barely even noticeable, but was flying around the entire time. - You saw the pictures. That's why you're reading these reviews. He is creative, but not tacky or goofy. He sees things and stages them better than anyone else we were even considering. A lot of the people you are considering will point fancy cameras at you, and then touch them up later -- and that's it. Desch understood angles, lighting, and when was the right time to take the pictures we wanted in certain spots. I can't recommend him enough. If you're going to save a couple dollars by using someone else, do yourself a favor and cut corners somewhere else. Nate Swartz

ing I could have asked for out of a wedding photographer. Our engagement session was so much fun with Nathan. He was constantly on the look out for the perfect spots and turned a stormy photo shoot day into something so beautiful. For my wedding, he showed up around 10:30am when the girls and I were getting ready, and stayed with us all night until 11pm. Now, that is something you don't find often in a wedding photographer. He worked the entire day for us, and we couldn't be more thankful that we found him. We just got our photos back and they are AMAZING (and we got them back in little over a month! Fast turnaround time!). My husband and I absolutely loved working with Nathan and highly recommend him as a photographer!

He was laid back, easy to talk to, had a sense of humor and most importantly for me (an anxious bride) not the type of person that would stress me out on the big day. A free engagement shoot session was the perfect way to get to know Nathan and his style of photography as well as getting used to being in front of the camera. We had a great time walking around boathouse row and the art museum that day…and when we got our pictures (hundreds!) we were totally floored with how incredible they were! On the morning of our wedding, my husband’s best man had planned for everyone to meet at a local barber for straight shaves. Nathan and Christelle were happy to accommodate them as well as me and my girls at the salon. They got so many awesome shots and it thrilled me that my husband had some of the spotlight that morning, too! As soon as we looked at Nathan's work, we knew... we had to have him. In my non-expert opinion, Nathan is an expert at nature and nighttime photography. Our venue was the perfect place for his style and it rings true in the photo outcome. Nathan and his wife were so easy to work with. They made us feel very comfortable throughout the day, are insanely nice and on top of that are very talented. We were more than happy to take moments away from the reception to capture more photographs of the two of us, and we are so glad we did. One of my most memorable and favorite parts of the day was when Nathan suggested we have a private dance as the cocktail hour began, in the middle of the forest where there was one beam of light shining through. We both initially thought it was a bit odd, but it was one of the only moments we had between the two of us for the whole day and also resulted in absolutely gorgeous images. We fully let Nathan make all photography decisions; we came with no "must have photo list" and asked for nothing except for him to do his thing and tell us what to do. This was the best decision, because he produced the best leave-behind of the best day of our lives. Everyone says the only thing you have 20 years after your wedding day is your husband and your photos and I am thrilled to say I could look at these photos every day for the rest of my life and they will bring back the memories of the day and put a huge smile on my face. We had never seen anything like some of the pieces he has produced for us. There is a clichéd notion of weddings that the occasion should feel magical, like something out of a fairy tale.
