g with Troy because we loved talking music. We like all kinds of music: 70s, 90s, 00s, disco, r and b, Salsa, boy bands, and Bay Area rap… Troy had everyone on the dance floor all night long! He helped us with our ceremonial songs, even assisting with last minute changes for mics the day of, and when I lost the garter as the song starting playing for the garter toss- he took control and no one noticed what emergency just happened. My only request to Troy was to keep everyone dancing all night long, and the dance floor was packed the entire time. We even saw people at the hotel dancing from their balconies He was having everyone dance! Choose Troy for your wedding, it’s a no-brainer. Did I mention, he also takes the best videos and pics from his DJ booth, he is so fun! We honestly still have guests saying he was the best DJ they’d experience at any wedding, and to me, that’s saying a lot.

Planning: Troy is very professional and friendly, and he took the time to understand our vision for our wedding and the type of music we liked. We shared a few Spotify playlists with him to give him a sense of what we liked. We also told him that we liked mashups and dance remixes of songs that aren’t inherently the most danceable—we like a lot of rock and oldies, for example. We loved how excited Troy is about DJing—it is obviously his passion and his art—and how committed he is to creating an experience tailored to our tastes. We trusted him with the details, which was the right call, because... Music: The music was awesome! He played songs we’d recommended and others that we hadn’t thought of but (a) were right up our alley, and (b) were huge crowd pleasers. In line with our vision, he played new stuff, old stuff, and some great mashups (Whitney Houston vs. Rihanna, for example, and Elvis, The Doors, Johnny Cash mixed with I don’t even know what). Like a total pro—he used to DJ clubs in San Francisco—he transitioned between all these genres with such finesse that the energy stayed high the entire evening. We have never seen such a large proportion of wedding guests dance for so long—everyone from the twenty-somethings to a 92-year-old grandma. The dance floor was packed, and guests of all ages and tastes raved about how much they liked the music and DJ Troy. Between the variety of genres, the mash-us, his artistic flare, and his ability to tailor the music to our preferences we can honestly say our music was unlike any other wedding that we’ve been to (and we’ve never had so much fun dancing). MC: DJ Troy was our emcee for the night. Again, he was masterful: super suave, kept things moving along, added to the atmosphere without making it about him. He really read the crowd and came up ways to get crowd participation that were fun and memorable and did not feel in the least bit forced, leading to some of our favorite moments of the evening. In sum: Before our wedding, we thought that we wanted a DJ and a live band—being fans of live music—but it wasn’t feasible for us to do both. After the wedding, we were glad we didn’t go for a live band, because we wouldn’t have wanted to sacrifice a minute of DJ Troy playing awesome music and keeping all of our guests on the dance floor and having a great time. He’s that good.

He made a point to have multiple phone calls throughout the process to make sure that we were all on the same page and answer any questions we may have had. After providing a detailed questionnaire, he was able to understand everything from the specific songs we wanted played, to our general taste in music, to the specific songs and artists we did not want played, and he stuck to it very well throughout the night. Despite having a fairly small wedding (35 guests), with a good chunk who were not interested in dancing, Troy was able to keep the dance floor occupied for the entire night! On top of this, Troy had a fantastic demeanor, in the months leading up to the wedding, as well as the day of. He even provided a microphone and sound system for the ceremony, for which he was not DJ'ing. I would highly recommend Troy for anyone's wedding.

o warn us about potential sound policy issues with our venue and helping us to work those issues out well in advance of the event. We had lots going on leading up to the wedding and didn't have a ton of time to pick specific songs we wanted him to play during reception events like cake cutting, grand entrance, during dinner, etc., so we just asked Troy to kinda feel it out and use his best judgment. I can honestly say that, by some amazing DJ magic, he knew the vibe of our wedding and the right songs for every moment better than we did! We got so many compliments on both the background music during dinner and the dance music later on. As an MC he made the whole process move perfectly without being the center of attention himself, and really set the tone for making our guests happy and comfortable - again, with minimal guidance from us. I think we got about 8 more toasts than we thought we would due to Troy's handiwork on the microphone. I HIGHLY recommend booking Troy Michael DJ for any party or event!

His experience shined through as he was able to give recommendations to the timeline, wedding games/dances, and assist with music for choreographed dance routines. but you definitely get what you pay for! Troy was very easy to work with - very responsive, reliable, met with me on my planning trip and then met with my husband and I a couple of days before our wedding. He also spoke with us a couple of times before our event to go over some details, music choices, etc. My husband planned a flashmob as a surprise at the reception and Troy was instrumental in helping organize that and the surprise music/slideshow our nephew put together for us. He provided music for our ceremony as well as the reception. He provided a lapel mic for my husband for the ceremony so it was really great because it let people hear our vows, etc. Troy also went above and beyond and helped us with a playlist for our iPod for our rehearsal dinner! It was a great combination of Hawaiian music.

This was a huge deciding factor especially because I've heard of horror stories where a DJ accidentally mixed songs up with wedding A and wedding B. He also had amazing reviews from brides all over. (Now I know why =) I hired Troy for the reception but I had to ask him for help when my pianist for the ceremony had emergency and could not play for our ceremony last min (her husband passed away from cancer). Troy calmed me down and worked with me to make a CD with completely different set of songs. Mind you, this was the day before the wedding. HE CAME THROUGH!! I'm SO thankful for his professionalism. You want to find a vendor who is truly in love with what they do, passionate and caring about their jobs and their clients. He was one of our more expensive vendors but I was SO glad we had him there. Everything went very smoothly and he was so much fun to work with. HIGHLY recommended for weddings, parties, birthdays, anything and everything that needs a DJ.

He offered to be the primary emcee, or provide secondary introductions - whatever we wanted his involvement to be during the reception! We opted to have our Best Man be the primary emcee, so Troy Michaels just provided introductions to the wedding party. Troy performed his role perfectly! He was charismatic, and energetic - without being overbearing or phony. During the introductions, a fire alarm went off - but Troy wasn't fazed at all! He handled the situation expertly and professionally and the party continued on without a hitch! We had prepared a special music mix for our first wedding dance, and Troy handled all the details perfectly. The dinner music was exactly the type of music that what we had asked for. When it came time for dancing - Troy really delivered! Everyone had a great time! Troy has taken great pride in perfecting his craft - and it shows. Thank you for making our wedding a smashing success!"

80's Music Power Hour" he took the idea and ran with it! As emcee, he was right on the dot with everthing, and when it came time for open dancing- he got EVERYBODY up! 80's hour was executed perfectly - we had requested several songs, and he filled in the blanks seamlessly. Then he played Right Said Fred, and it was over!! All the guys had their shirts off by the end of the night, hahaha. It was sooo much fun. My *new* hubby said in the beginning of planning that he envisioned a huge dance party and that's exactly what we ended up with! That, and the best night of our life so far, thanks in [a huge] part to the awesome DJ skills of Troy!

re expensive djs i interviewed, but i was willing to pay extra for the peace of mind. he is probably the most professional vendor i worked with out of the wedding. he answered my emails within minutes, is very organized, and is great at what he does. he even helped us plan the whole reception program and gave us some suggestions for fun games to play. he was there early to set up, and does not charge by the hour. i did not miss having a wedding coordinator at the reception because of him!

e it to me b/c he wanted to "customize" my wedding and get a feel of what i wanted before we discussed it. He proceeded to call me every week and email me often. When I finally did answer his calls, he bad mouthed all the other dj's in town and made it sound like he was the only professional dj around. He quoted me at 2,000 or 3,000 and said that he only has 1 package price. When I told him I didnt want to spend that much he asked how much I would like to spend and he could work with me. I told him no more than 1,000, he told me that he couldnt not work with me for so little and reiterated that I needed to be careful when looking for a dj b/c they were all very unprofessional. I found HIM to be very unprofessional by repeatedly telling me that he was the only one that could perform my reception services as they should be performed. So full of himself.
