Maija Karin Photography

hat as part of the package as it let Maija and the wedding couple get to know each other in a more casual setting before the wedding. When we got the engagement photos back it confirmed to us that we had the right person for the big day. So many fantastic photos to choose from! And the wedding photos did not disappoint either. Maija captured all the gorgeous, traditional, posed photos as well as so many candid, "in-the-moment" shots; but she also made sure she got the details that we spent so much time planning and that just sit in the background and yet make the whole day beautiful and just perfect. Her experienced eye is well worth every penny! Maija took the time to get a list of our "must have" shots ahead of time and we didn't have to worry about her photographing the people and moments that were important to us; she got it all. Additionally, knowing we would have the whole family together, which does not happen very often, we had Maija take family pictures for us a few days before the wedding (highly recommend this btw!). With a large group that included small children, it is not an easy task to get a picture with everyone looking at the camera and smiling, but somehow she managed to do just that. The only down side is that there are SO MANY amazing photos from the the wedding and the family session that it is extremely difficult to decide what to print off to hang up in our house! Note that if getting married in the busy wedding season (which my daughter did), the return time on the photos is longer than some other photographers (6-8 weeks). We knew that up front so it was not a surprise but after the big day you get anxious so see the pictures. Know that it is worth the wait. And Maija gave us a fabulous real that captured the whole day perfectly to share on social media within a few days so that helped some; there is just no way to avoid the excited anticipation! Highly recommend Maija Karin Photography for not only engagement and wedding photos but for family pictures and what ever special day you want immortalized in print. Thank you Maija!

turned out beautiful and we're so excited to print them and create an album that we'll cherish forever. She was very helpful throughout the entire process and pleasant to work with! Highly recommend and thank you so much!

rst interaction, and she took great care all through the wedding process. Maija's shot placement, and editing is first class. We had an awesome variety of weather on the wedding day, fog, sun, and full moon rise over the Boise mountains, and she was able to capture it all. We also got our pics back in a timely manner for another reception, and we have nothing but good things to say about our experience. Thanks Maija! Jim and Jayme

xpertise of getting the right light peaking through and photo composition was top notch. Truly grateful to have her and her team to take the shots on our big day! thank you!

the day of. She did an excellent job capturing the most meaningful moments of the day. She made everyone feel comfortable and like stars. And she balanced both creative posing with journalistic style photography. Go with Maija - you won’t regret it!! I promise!

fun - You will not be disappointed!

she answered all my random questions along the journey, kept our crazy families and bridal party in line and laughed so much along the way! She was everywhere and captured everything like magic! Thank you for everything you did and we absolutely love our photos! Anyone would be lucky to have Maija as part of their wedding team!

odd requests. Professional, artistic, guiding, and so much fun! I highly recommend using Maija Karin photography. I even got some fun boudoir photos done with her as a present to my new husband. Ladies, don't skimp on these!

really represented who we were. Her professionalism and amazing work didn't stop there. We were blown away with our wedding photos! She made us feel so at ease throughout the day and captured so many honest moments that help us bring back fond memories of our wedding day every time we look through the photos. We could not be happier with our experience and the stunning photos we received from Maija and her team! Not only was the end product amazing, but they were so fun and wonderful to work with throughout the day. It just felt like we were with our friends as they captured so many special moments. We couldn't think of a better match for us, and we would recommend working with Maija and her team to anyone looking for an amazing photographer.

hotos did not disappoint. They were stunning, especially the black and white photos. I am so excited to be able to use her again in June for our second daughter's wedding!

dding (rained all day). She has a vision and understanding of how to capture the most beautiful moments. Would 100000% use her again and recommend her to everyone!!!

0% sure about who we were choosing - and after meeting Maija for the fist time, we were sold! Not only is she extremely personable, kind, and funny, but she is also incredibly talented and easy to work with! We had a blast with her during both our engagement shoot and at our wedding and she made sure to help make the day run smoothly while capturing all the special moments throughout. Our photos turned out absolutely beautiful and we are so grateful. We would recommend her to anyone in the market for a photographer!

and she helped us create a very specific timeline for the day of to help us stay on track. Maija captured every detail of our wedding day perfectly and got every picture done so efficiently! I never felt like the photos were dragging on (which has definitely been the case in other weddings that I have been in) and she didn't keep us away from the dance floor long for our Golden Hour photos which we were super happy about :) I will 100% be recommending Maija to everyone I know and am excited to have her photograph our family over the years as it continues to grow! :)

better having her there. She helped so much with the timing and schedule of things and knew how to capture all the best shots. She was also so open to suggestions and thoughts on the photos that we wanted. I love her style of candid first, posed later, and everything in between. Even when she had us do certain things for photos, they always felt very us and easy to get into. She is so fun, always smiling and laughing and has enough energy fro everyone envolver which is especially helpful towards the end of family photos😉 I could not have asked for a better photography experience and I hope to get more photos taken from her in the future. Even the words I have written do not describe fully what an incredible experience it was having Maija photograph our wedding. Also, the second photographer that helped Maija was so sweet and helpful, especially with the kids! It was so awesome to have two photographers. I highly recommend it.

we look at the photos! I am in love with our engagement and wedding photos! Highly recommend

e little moments you did not even know you wanted!

e. We also were looking for a photographer that would be a fun addition to our intimate destination wedding. And boy, did Maija deliver. We were all set to head to Cabo in April 2020 but due to covid, we had to delay until November. She was so understanding with all the plates we were trying to juggle, and was always a calm and reassuring voice in the midst of the crazy. When our wedding day finally arrived, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. Her and her assistant captured every moment to perfection, every little glance and thoughtful touch we have preserved in picture form. I cannot recommend her enough and we are so grateful that she captured our favorite day. The best part is I know this won’t be the last time that we will take pictures with her. Even though we live outside of Seattle and she lives in Boise, I know that we will be clients and friends for many years to come.

was the person we wanted to help (go check out her "About Me" page on her website, it's totally worth it). Maija easily blows all the competition out of the water. We don't particularly love being in front of a camera, but Maija did an incredible job of making us feel at home there. Her easy going nature made us feel comfortable, and made it easy to capture candid photo's. When it was time for a laugh, she had no shortage of ways to get us to crack up and capture some incredible photo's. From scouting out new and great locations on the fly for engagement photo's, to making your wedding day an absolute breeze, Maija can do it all. She is truly a professional, and it was clear she is a master of her art. After the wedding, the first thing many friends and family talked about was how amazing and kind our photographer was. We get to relive our wedding day everyday because of her. We cannot recommend enough going with Maija. If you want your special day to truly shine, go no further.

could not be happier with that decision! To say it was nerve wracking planning a wedding long distance, let alone during a pandemic, would be an understatement! Maija was kind, responsive and extremely professional. This was our family's first wedding and Maija was amazing! She was patient with me and answered all of my ridiculous questions with no judgement. I would wholeheartedly, without reservation, recommend her for your event. She has followed up after the process and even answered questions I had about other vendors. She is the best!

anning an out of state wedding because I just fell in love with our venue but I was nervous about finding a photographer and not being local. Well, let me just say that nervousness went away instantly when I first ever wrote Maija. Like any bride-to-be I was so excited and can write essay long emails to share and introduce myself and fiancé so there went my essay to Maija and her reply was same day and met with the same excitement and essay back. I couldn’t believe it. I had written other photographers just in case, and honestly their emails back just weren’t as authentic and personal like Maija’s. Her galleries spoke for themselves on how I KNEW she had to be the one to capture our day. But in our many exchanges of emails throughout the whole process I remember when my fiancé and I first FaceTimed her (since we lived out of state) and I just felt like I knew her. Her friendly and kind personality that I got to meet through emails shined even more on FaceTime. I knew because of that instant click that we were choosing the most perfect photographer in the Treasure Valley! She was so helpful when discussing budget and you know those complicated family details, lol. She made it all so easy leading up to our big day. Meeting Maija in person was just the cherry on top! I never once felt like I was one of many clients/weddings for her. Especially getting married in the Fall. She always responded quickly and in the same enthusiasm I put out I was met with. I loved our emails and planning for the big day. THE WEDDING DAY: Maija had it all down. She knew the important shots we wanted. She met us in our element and in our personalities. “Serious face shots” aren’t my jam. Lol. I laugh a lot and smiling is just my natural state - and she captured those getting ready moments so beautifully. Moments that I didn’t even know she captured. One important one was praying with my bridesmaids and mom before hand. It’s a shot I cherish. Her ability to get ALL the shots and I mean ALL of them was amazing. Taking the family photos (which can get crazy lol) she was in control and lead with kindness and made it so fun. Even during my “bridezilla” moment with my veil not staying due to wind and it being so long, she assured me and helped me during it all and got THEEE SHOT! From our first look waking down to the aisle to my groom to the reception and garter tosses and toasts - she captured the moments that we get to cherish forever. I cannot write enough of how thankful I am God directed Maija into my wedding planning search because she is more than an incredibly talented photographer, she became my friend. We love her and her work so much we are excited about our maternity shoot with her over a year later after our wedding day. I wouldn’t want anyone else to capture these special life changing moments but her. Her passion and heart truly show in her photographs. The way she is able to freeze time in a frame of a moment is beyond me. If you’re looking for the best photographer that will meet you with all the happiness you carry about getting married backed with her talent and creative eye - Maija Karin Photography is your Gal! Not to mention the wedding albums are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen! Thank you Maija for being my confetti catcher!

pful in sculpting our approach for timing to our day and specific shots desired. Family appreciated having her onsite as she could help capture candid photos and suggest aesthetic decor alterations. Most important for us, she was available for video calls, and flexible amidst this pandemic and changing day to day county codes. We had wildfire smoke and a thunderstorm, and our photos still kept that warm, romantic glow amidst it all!!! You will be thankful you chose someone who feels like family amidst your event and the outcome provided. We love our sneak peek so much that my husband feels he’d be happy to keep that collection alone :) Thank you Maija!!!

ht looking through all of them! She is a kind and beautiful person and she helps you feel beautiful, too!

to a function as big as a wedding, it is like herding cats. And Maija is an AMAZING cat wrangler. With the assistance of 3 highly trained professionals (Maija for the photographer, a DJ crew and an official wedding planner- all of whom my family tried to talk me out of hiring,) every piece of chaos was managed with hardly a blip on the emotional radar. And that is saying something, because as we all know, weddings are emotional affairs. I would even go so far as to say, without the aforementioned professionals, it is questionable whether I would still be on speaking terms with all of my friends and family... And that was a benefit of hiring Maija that I did not even know I was getting. Her picture portfolio speaks for itself. Her photos are truly beautiful and fully capture the essence of everything you would want to remember from such a special day. I would recommend her on her skill with a camera alone, but where she truly shines is in her grace and caring while going through the process. Maija takes care to focus on what you want, but brings a truly amazing empathy and flexibility to the task. There will never be enough time on your wedding day and she helped me find the right balance of staying on "schedule," but still experiencing the moment. And with the pictures she took, I am able to go back, whenever I want, to experience it again and even see some of the things I missed the first time around. Houses and cars will come and go, but you will never be able to recreate your wedding day. The pictures are once in a lifetime. Spend the money. Hire Maija. With the quality of pictures she takes you will want to carve out time just to browse through the album for the sheer beauty of the product she provides.

was a good match from there. We switched it up with our bridal party and used parasols instead of bouquests and Maija did an awesome job working with this switch and playing around with the lighting and poses with the group; she made beautiful artwork. She captured all the photos we wanted all while embedding our love and passion for the mountains throughout the pictures. She was amazing and you won’t be disappointed if you chose her for your special day! Thank you Maija, you were great!!

a Save the Date! Not only that but she gave great direction during the shoot and made both of us feel really comfortable. Definitely will be going back to her.

, all the moments & details leading up to our I Do's, and lastly our fun celebration. LOVE LOVE LOVE our photos!!! We had a large wedding party, lots of family, and about 400 guests. Maija kept everyone on track and everything went smoothly for us. She still managed to capture all the amazing wedding moments and details working her way around the busy reception. We initially decided to not have sunset photos due to the size of our wedding and the possibility of not being able to sneak out. We were surprised with a traditional Basque dance so Maija stayed longer than expected to capture this special moment for us. She even went above and beyond to sneak us out for the most beautiful sunset photos on the Basque Block following the dance. We have so many amazing photos to add to our new home and share with our families. Maija's photo from our big day won a local Summer contest for The Grove Hotel. I can't express how amazing Maija is as a wedding photographer with her warm smile and fun personality. She is so talented and creative. I highly recommend Maija! Thank you so much for your exceptional service and attention to detail with a warm smile! Also, for working with our huge cultural wedding. You're the best!!! :)

feel at ease and the shots were romantic and classy. So many of them belong in a magazine, it's hard to choose just one favorite. And being from out of town, Maija's electronic pay system was easy and convenient. If you want a truly amazing experience and seriously pro results, I highly recommend Maija Karin Photography in Boise Idaho.

with her service, not only on the day of our wedding but long before and after. She even sent us a custom pillow with our names and wedding date on it, which was so unexpected and very special. She communicates often and works to make the experience of your wedding very personal. Not to mention, her photos are GORGEOUS! We absolutely love how they all turned out, the colors are vibrant and soft. Our album truly shows the beauty and happiness of our special day. Thank you again Maija!

was not your typical wedding as my clients booked a secluded airbnb plantation (not even on a map) out in the mountains where we had NO cell service. We also had an unexpected thunderstorm that was NOT on the weather report. However, it turned out beautiful and the photos are magazine front cover worthy. WOW! My clients even got the cutest photo of them under an umbrella... Maija of course had this cute idea. Maija was amazing from beginning to the end. We couldn't keep each other updated due to the lack of service on the day of but never once was I concerned and everything went to plan even with the rain. I'm truly grateful for her and appreciate that her editing style is timeless as I know my clients will look back on these photos in 20 years and still LOVE them. They're beyond happy! Thank you again for all your hard work. I truly hope we get the opportunity to work together again. I will recommend every Idaho bride to you :)

we did not want anyone else! Working with her was a blast! Her energy and smile made being in front of the camera easy and comfortable! She gave directions for photos but also captured many moments that just occurred naturally. She was great at keeping us all on our planned timeline and made sure that we got every picture we wanted to get! I highly highly recommend Maija for any significant event you are planning! I know my husband, and I will be using Maija again for all our important moments and family photos in the future! Book with Maija, and you will not be disappointed!

ing the engagement session, it was a blast to pose for her. She kept the day light and fun. Did I mention the photos turned out amazing!!!! She also sent us cute personalized gift which was above and beyond. At the wedding, she was also great with helping plan out the day-of schedule and fitting in the photo sessions without interruption. She was amazing at finding the best locations for backdrops of various photos such as our first look. She and her husband made a great team. They battled wind, rain, and freezing cold for us. We received our photos in a timely manner afterwards. As we flipped through them, we couldn’t have asked for better photos. They will be something we cherish forever. Thank you Maija for capturing our day. If you are looking for a photograph seriously go with Maija.

ne. Knowing that we had Maija taking so much care documenting our wedding day in the amazing way she does really took the pressure off. With her wealth of knowledge, incredible eye for detail and friendly and approachable disposition we had rave reviews both on the day and afterwards from our guests and bridal party. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile. It really felt like we had another friend there with us throughout all of the crazy wedding planning and on the big day. We can't recommend Maija highly enough; going above and beyond, she is the girl you NEED behind the lens. Thank you Maija 💕 Malika and Emanuel

t as important she was so FUN! She made you feel like a long time friend was there taking the photos!! Thank you again. I would recommend Maija in a heartbeat to anyone needing their special day captured

s to have our picture taken. Needless to say we both thought we would tolerate the photo session and nothing more. BUT spending time with Maija on our wedding day was not just tolerable, it was great. We laughed and cried and every genuine emotion from the day was captured beautifully in the photos we will treasure forever. Thoughout the process there we so many personal touches and we felt genuinely cared for.

time taking photos, everything was so comfortable. The photos came out beyond what I could have ever imagined, I look at them almost every week. I have known I've wanted her to be our photographer for years, and she captured every incredible moment from our day. We love Maija, and anyone would be blessed to have her as their photographer.

when I spoke with Maija the first time. Her compassion, enthusiasm and complete confidence in my ability to rock it was 100% what I needed. Of course I wasn't without hesitations - planning a wedding seems built to expose you to every possible insecurity you have and then add a few on top of it just for kicks. But the day of my wedding came and Maija was there - confident, calm, totally prepared and even more importantly, PATIENT with me. She helped me see what my groom saw. She helped me feel like myself and remember what the heck was going on anyway. She pushed out the noise, from outside (and inside) my head. She also put people in order! I didn't have to worry about coordinating, organizing, playing politics, nothing! All I had to worry about was frostbite... but that's my fault for getting married in tiny heels in mid-November in the mountains :) Maija was also perfect with my husband - he was extremely nervous about being expected to "Act" or be a "Bro" in cheesy pre-posed photos, but Maija was completely on top of it. Even when he couldn't express himself or his concerns clearly she knew what he was worried about and put him at ease. She was able to do this by truly getting to know us ahead of time - she's part photographer and part psychologist. The end result was fantastic pictures - and SO MANY OF THEM. We're STILL going through photos and trying to choose our favorites. My family is stunned at how amazing they all look and I am stunned that she was able to be everywhere at once... I mean seriously, how do you do that? She was invisible but everywhere and she took the most gorgeous, candid, touching photos we could ask for. Maija was the absolute best decision we made once we knew we were getting married. I couldn't ask for more and I will always treasure her work. We will actually be a couple that LOOKS at their wedding photos years from now!

and gives valuable advice along the planning process. Maija has a way of capturing so much emotion and passion with out you and your loved one knowing she is there. She never made me feel like she was keeping me and my husband to take pictures, more like she was creating memorable, romantic moments. As far as I knew, she was another bridesmaid! Even braved the weather conditions to get some amazing pictures we can cherish forever!

er to be part of our wedding day. Then we changed the venue from Washington state to Tuscany, Italy and I kid you not - MAIJA AGREED TO COME WITH! Not only did she come - but she was always just a message away with any worries or concerns I had, or just to check in and see how the wedding planning was going. She was engaged throughout the entire process - and very organized. She was a MVP at the wedding - so many guests came up to me to tell me how amazing Maija was, all the beautiful pictures they saw her taking and asking me where on earth I found such a wonderful photographer. One of my guests even came up to me and told me that whenever they get married they're going to reach out to Maija. As an aside, I just have to mention how she consistently went out of her way for me (even more so than a 10+ hour flight across the Atlantic). She took engagement photos of us in Florence (hello dream come true), stayed later at the wedding reception to get pictures of the father-daughter and first dance after things ran late, and helped me sew the train of my wedding dress up when I was in the bathroom, frantically trying to find the non-existent button that the tailor had forgotten to sew on. I mean seriously, this woman is a legend. She went above and beyond for us, and because of her, my whole family have the most beautiful photos that we will cherish forever. My husband and I are so thankful that she came to Italy and was a part of our wedding day. She is an absolutely amazing individual and an extremely talented wedding photographer. I would drink a glass of wine with you in Florence any time, Maija! :)

lives together. This was so important to me, because how can you trust someone to capture one of the most important days of your life without knowing who you are and why you’re there?! We never actually met Maija before our wedding day but felt like we knew her and felt completely comfortable immediately upon meeting her! Neither one of us have ever been particularly comfortable in front of the camera but Maija made it SO easy, and honestly, even fun! I would do it again in a heartbeat! Her photos very clearly speak for themselves. Spend just a few minutes looking and you will understand! I was immediately drawn in by the beautiful, natural, candid, and artistic shots she took, so I wasn’t even surprised by the perfection of our photos. Going through them we were immediately brought back to the magic of that day; she captured all the moments that had passed us by too quickly. The smiles and laughs are so real and she captures every emotion so beautifully!! I planned my wedding from out of state and was so nervous not being there in person. Maija’s communication and organization skills made me feel so at ease, and while I stressed about some other vendors, I had not a single worry with Maija. I could go on forever about how amazing she is! If you’re still looking for a photographer, stop here!! You will NOT be disappointed.

positively! I could hear her happiness through just emailing. It was comforting for me, especially since I didn't even live in the place we were getting married. On the wedding day, she had this easy vibe about her- not pushy, kept us giggling away, nothing too formal. I love the candid photos, so it was something I looked for in a photographer. One of my favorite things was the following days after the wedding, she would do little sneak peaks on her instagram of how our photos turned out (absolutely stunning btw). Maija was wonderful, if we didn't live so far away, she would definitely be our go to photographer for all our special moments. A huge thanks to Maija, I can't recommend her enough.

ake our big day magical and seamless. Couldn't have asked for a better photographer and new friend! We will definitely call upon her services for the future and recommend to everyone.

hter line out the day before hand which helped us stay on schedule with out any confusion. She had a list of photos that the bride wanted typed out and she got them all and then checked with me to make sure nothing was missed. Maija was prepared, professional, so sweet, and available to answer any questions. Maija was impressive through out the day and many of our quests couldn’t believe how she was able to blend in while catching everything. My goodness have you seen this women’s photos!!? She is top notch, and such a joy to work with. We are beginning the process of planning our next daughters wedding, and she was the first request. After all she is the best!!!

turned out absolutely stunning! She took photos of things I would have missed otherwise! Our wedding photos show us smiling and laughing and none of it is staged, it was just that easy with her! We will be using Maija again for any family photo shoots, even though she does live in a different state!

ed last year, and I was a bridesmaid. Let me be clear; I HATE having my picture taken. I don’t like to pose, and I feel awkward in front of the camera. I never feel particularly pretty. Maija was the photographer for my girlfriend’s wedding. What I remembered was how Maija was approachable, professional, and not intrusive whatsoever (very ninja-like). She made the event fun. Now, here comes the crucial part. When I saw my girlfriend’s wedding pictures, I was blown away. Maija is a true artist. She captures moments that you don’t realize are taking place. She captures intimacies, emotions, and the environment in a way that makes you want to hang each picture because it has meaning in a moment that resonates with you on a profound level. Plus, she captures beauty in a humble and genuine way. I LOVED THESE PICTURES! All these reasons are why we chose Maija as our photographer for our wedding day. I don't even know where to begin... What Maija managed to capture in our wedding photos - the moments, the expressions, the emotions, the multi-generations of our families, and the prideful and protective Bruneau-house llama, became the most precious mementos to not only me and my husband, but to our entire family. We were moved, impressed, and in awe of her work. Maija made the experience fun and comfortable. I have opened and reopened the link to our wedding photos a hundred times and am delighted every time. My husband and I are both impressed with her attention to detail from beginning to end: from the wedding gift, to the engraved UBS stick, to her thoughtful cards. We are grateful that we hired Maija to capture our special day and provide us with many moments to come of opportunities to reminisce, laugh, cry, and celebrate our family, friends, and most importantly, our love for each other and for all those amazing people we were honored to celebrate with, which includes Maija. You won’t be sorry. You will be filled with gratitude and thrilled you chose Maija. Cami and Vic

ly professional but she is also warm, friendly and easy to work with. She made us feel so comfortable. Of course our photos turned out beautifully and truly captured the magic of our wedding day. She really has that unique eye that can capture a couples relationship on film. We loved having Maija as our wedding photographer and would recommend her to anyone!
