About this vendor
12 Ridges is no longer hosting new wedding engagements. We are re-orienting our business model towards the Tasting Room and will begin to re-offer weddings following COVID. All existing weddings will continue as planned! Sorry for any inconvenience. We'll be back, but until then come visit our Tasting Room!
Located in Vesuvius, VA, 12 Ridges is an elegant Vineyard open for weddings. Sitting atop a mountain, this property is the state’s highest altitude vineyard and tasting room. A distinctive venue, it encompasses both indoor and outdoor event spaces. The property’s panoramic views and mountaintop setting offer a breathtaking photo backdrop of the central Virginian countryside. The Blue Ridge Mountains are very visible, welcoming the awe of your guests. A family-owned Vineyard, it was previously known as Skylark Farm.
The team at 12 Ridges Vineyard are patiently waiting for their vines to mature. In the meantime, their sommeliers have cultivated a broad range of cool climate wines for visitors to test out. Adding another feather to their cap, the vineyard has been selling Fraser Fir trees for the festive seasons for decades. The city of Buena Vista is just 40 minutes away from the vineyard by car, perfect for those that want to continue exploring. If you have loved ones who like to spend time in nature, the breathtaking Shenandoah National Park is ready for adventure. For those visiting from out of town who need a place to stay, there are hotels as close as 20 minutes away.
We excel in offering elopements, engagements, proposals, engagement photography sessions, bridal showers, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and small gatherings up to 20 people.
At 12 Ridges Vineyard, we offer an intimate tasting room, cozy garden area, or the picturesque hilltop, where you can say your vows in front of the mountains. For the ceremony, you are invited to the flower-filled garden, which also features convenient access to both the hilltop and the tasting room. The hilltop is offered for ceremonies. More intimate gatherings can enjoy the cozy feel of the tasting room (when it is open), which welcomes celebrations. For further support throughout such a busy time, the venue requires you have a wedding coordinator on hand.

Where do I begin? My daughter celebrated her marriage with a reception at 12 Ridges on 8/8/20. It will remain one of the happiest family memories for my husband and for me.
As one eloquent guest exclaimed, “It’s as if we’re dancing above the clouds! Do you think this must be what heaven is like?”
The 360 view from this mountaintop vineyard is indescribably breathtaking. My daughter and her groom entered the elegant oversized cocktail deck accompanied by a joyful Dixieland band. So fun! The deck comfortably fit all our 100 guests, two fully staffed bars and roaming food/beverage severs. After cocktails, our newlyweds proceeded up the picturesque walk to a gorgeous white tent where all our guests were astounded by the breathtaking sunset views.
Hard to adequately describe our experience at 12 Ridges but please know the staff and owners were flexible, accessible, extremely accommodating and incredibly kind as we worked our way through Covid wedding planning. They were so accommodating to all our many vendors...tent company, caterers, event designer, musicians and our unbelievable wedding planner...Mariee Ami.
Our vendors were from all over the country yet 12 Ridges was so gracious ... meeting all their unique needs for such a special venue.
Thank you, 12 Ridges!
We couldn’t have hoped for a more perfect setting for our daughter’s wedding! The views are breathtakingly spectacular! There are so many beautiful site options for the ceremony and cocktail hour and reception! The large deck and ease of set-up...fantastic!! The bridal room, perfect!
Every vendor was effusive in their compliments regarding the venue and their confidence that 12 Ridges is the best new wedding venue - they can’t wait to serve there again! Thank you, THANK YOU!
How honored we feel to have been the first of what is sure to be many beautiful weddings at 12 Ridges Vineyard!
My husband and I got married at 12 Ridges at the end of last summer - a dream come true!!! The vineyard was just opening to the public so we had the honor of being one of their first weddings. I was impressed and delighted by how graciously they worked with us as we explored all of the many onsite options for the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, pictures and more! With all of the spectacular views and natural beauty, we loved that any choice we made would be beautiful! The 12 Ridges staff also helped us as we explored various wedding vendors and delivery/set-up dates. Additionally, there was plenty of parking for our guests and the 2 transport buses we hired.. . My family, fiancé and I made numerous trips to the property and fell more in-love with it at every visit.
On the wedding day, my bridesmaids and I spent the whole morning at the venue in the bridal suite and loved it. There are two stations ready for hair & makeup artists which made getting ready so easy. There is a private bathroom, private and discreet outdoor access, lots of mirrors, and it’s wedding dress ready!
Our wedding ceremony took place in the garden (magical, with a low stone wall on 2 sides, white hydrangeas blooming, as well as views of the mountains), which allowed our 200+ guest wedding to feel intimate. The guests then transitioned through the garden gateway, up the hill to a picturesque cocktail hour with breathtaking 360 degree views. Many of my friends have said it was the most beautiful cocktail hour they have seen! We saw several Christmas card photos the following winter from that view :) I loved that there was enough space for our guests to transition between different areas on the property.
The tent reception on the deck was perfect. Many other venues recommend renting a floor to go with your tent… but we didn’t need to! We were able to maintain the outdoor views and summer breeze with the luxury of indoor bathrooms, flooring, a stage area, and plenty of outlets! They even have an indoor area for the band to hangout and relax. So ideal!
My husband and I live in Charlottesville so we are aware how many venues are out there… but you should go with this one! I have endless good things to say. We could not have picked a better venue with kinder people than 12 Ridges. Highly, highly recommend!
My wife and I got married at this beautiful vineyard and it was everything we could've imagined and more. We took a little bit of a risk when we decided to use the venue because the venue was being built as we were planning the wedding and we were one of the first weddings to be hosted on the vineyard. However, the wedding surpassed all of our expectations and in hindsight, using 12 Ridges was the best risk we ever took.
The panoramic mountain range views were stunning; the guests were in awe of the beauty of the scenery, and all of the catering, tent rentals, and other formalities all went according to plan. The summer weather up on the mountain made for a refreshing and comfortable evening in what would normally be sweltering heat of August down in the valley. The property management was easy to work with, very good with logistics, and kept an open line of communication in the months before the wedding to answer any questions or concerns that we had. I feel like we were the most fortunate bride and groom to have our wedding be held in such a majestic and timeless location.
We feel extremely fortunate to have gotten married at 12 Ridges Vineyard. The first time my now-husband and I visited the site was in its early days, still Skylark, and I will always remember watching the sunset and sensing deep peace. When we got engaged and began thinking about wedding locations, and potentially a destination wedding, we thought of 12 Ridges, and are truly so grateful our vision was able to come to fruition.
Our planning experience with Craig and Sam was wonderful, even with us traveling in and out of Virginia every few months and needing to schedule very particular site visits (in the midst of their construction schedule!). Then day-of, Sam and Athena were a huge help in handling shuttles and all property logistics which created more and more space for us to simply enjoy our wedding day. The setting speaks for itself, but as far as facilities go (bride and groom dressing areas, restrooms, etc), we felt we had exactly what we needed.
Getting to visit 12 Ridges now all the more special, and we strongly encourage other couples considering venues in the area to go visit for yourselves, take a glass of wine up to the hilltop, and just imagine.
