He was very professional and did an excellent job with music during our "no dancing allowed" reception (we played backyard games but indoors, it was wonderful). Gary was game for anything and everything and the company as a whole was flexible when working through a pandemic wedding. If and when we do an anniversary party I will not hesitate to hire them again. They were affordable and worth every penny! Thank you!

We also used Trish for photography and I cannot say enough good things about her! She started while the girls were getting ready and stayed for all of the big moments of our reception. She went way above and beyond the duties of a wedding photographer! She helped get lunch for my step daughter while I was getting my hair done, she helped me with my train numerous times, my veil when it got stuck in a fence during our first look, and ran and got forks for my husband and I as we cut our cake and realized we didn't have any forks. ccommodating of our many special requests for music throughout the reception (which we planned with him beforehand), but he also did a great job of making sure the reception ran smoothly for the guests, changing the order of our program a bit to accommodate for catering delays on the day of. He kept up the enthusiasm on the dance floor too! Would definitely recommend 1,2 Step to anyone planning their wedding, we found them to be really thoughtful and professional overall.

Made everything run super smooth and kept everyone dancing the entire reception. We also used them for the photography. Tricia was excellent and made everyone feel comfortable during pictures which really helped. We would definitely recommend 1, 2 Step Entertainment.

We had Gary as the DJ for our big day and he was awesome! Not only was the music great, he kept us on schedule throughout the day and even edited the song we played for our bridal party coming down the aisle so it was long enough- above and beyond with 1,2 step!

We even met with him in person to go over the details so that everything would run smoothly. When the day finally came, he directed the entire thing without missing a beat. So many of our friends and family came forward to tell us how much they loved our wedding and DJ Mo kept coming up! He was definitely a highlight of everyone's night. When people ask for suggestions on a DJ, we know who to recommend! We found him at our buddy's wedding a few years back and didn't look anywhere else. DJ Mo is one of a kind!

had a chance to worry, Tom confirmed he had identified a back-up and that they would be there early to set up/ get to know us. Maurice (DJ Mo) was our backup and everything from our ceremony to reception went seamlessly. Maurice knew our music, accommodated us with a last minute request by playing a recording of the best-man toast and he made sure everyone was out on the dance floor all night long. He kept the energy going by actual getting out and dancing with us and our guests! What could have been a headache with other companies/DJs that don’t provide back-ups turned into one of the highlights of our night. Would definitely recommend 1-2 Step Entertainment.

e dance floor. Only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star is because he played multiple line dances in a row. I love line dances but doing them all in a row was just too much and I was too tired. Other than that everything was great!

he only gave suril like 30 minutes notice to get a specific song and it went off without a hitch! It was perfect. We had 200 people attend and by the very last song there was probably close to 100 people still there ON THE DANCE FLOOR! We even convinced him to sneak in one more last minute song ;) the floor was packed all night and all I kept hearing after the wedding was “your dance floor was packed from start to finish, we never see that. I will always recommend 1,2 Step to any friend or family!

At first we weren’t sure if we wanted to do the “garter put on” part because we weren’t sure if the people who caught the bouquet and the garter would feel comfortable so Tommy suggested we could ask them that night if they would be willing to and I am SO glad we did because it turned out to be one of the funniest/best parts of the night. Thank you 1,2 step entertainment for being an important part of our wedding and for all of your hard work! You guys really made our night perfect!

ent. We were originally had Quincy assigned to our wedding. We had a hard time contacting him, he was very unresponsive to emails. After setting up a meeting with him, we were told that he would no longer be our DJ and now Shawn was our DJ. Shawn was very prompt in his responses and was flexible and made our prior appointment with Quincy work within his schedule. During our meeting, I was a little worried that Shawn didn't understand the vibe we were going for at our wedding but the end my husband convinced me he would do a good job. The day of he arrived on time and had everything set up and ready to go well in advance. Shawn did a great job on the music but when I came to running the reception (which Tom, the owner, had mentioned multiple times in our original meeting that the DJ controls the flow of the reception) it really lacked direction. We specifically asked Shawn to announce and ask people to make sure they sign the guest book, as well as to let people know when the late-night snack and our dessert was served and those announcements were never made. I think my biggest disappointment of the night was the lack of hype around our special dances (Our first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance and anniversary dance). There were no announcements to let guests know these were going on. Specifically, during the anniversary dance, there were many couples that weren't on the floor because the lack of announcements. When I asked Shawn to ask all married couples to come to the floor again and to start over he waited till the end then said something like "ooh well that didn't go how I wanted it to, let’s do it over", at that point I told him to forget. He didn't even call out my aunt and uncle who have been married the longest and ask for a round of applause or anything. I was VERY disappointed with the lack of direction during my ceremony.

ded up lighting. Everything was paid months in advance. I got an email from someone in the company other than Tom informing me of my event DJ, that being DJ Gary. That was my first disappointment because I requested DJ Quincy. I had the understanding that it was not 100% guaranteed but before booking, Tom told me that DJ Quincy was available for that weekend and that “It’s very rare that a request doesn’t equal out to a client getting the DJ but in cases where personal conflicts/illnesses come into play, we have a back up ready for you.” It was at that point that I decided to book with them. So when I got the email about DJ Gary of course I asked Tom what happened to Quincy and he told me he was DJing another wedding in Makinac that weekend. He assured me that DJ Gary is amazing and travels to New York with him to do his families weddings. That was good enough assurance for me and I moved on. Gary was a really nice guy and accommodating whenever we talked to him but he dropped the ball soooo greatly on my wedding day that I ended my night in tears and didn’t dance at all (outside of my first dance with my husband and my dance with my father). I walked into the ballroom to see a preview of the decorations and the set up...and to my horror the uplighting was green...like a lime green or green with a hue of yellow. I asked Gary about it and he told me that was the closest thing to gold(which is what I requested) that they had. It wasn’t even CLOSE to gold no matter how you tilted your head or squint your eyes so I told him to just leave them white. I hated the white but green was NOT an option. He also could not use uplighting along one of the walls because there weren’t any outlets. Well maybe they should have extension cords or wireless up lighting. Nonetheless it was a complete waste of $300!!! After dinner, I informed the dj that my husband and I had to go and take some more pictures. We’d been working around hot, humid weather all day and it was finally cooler. I hated to be pulled away because the party music was just getting started. I also asked him to pass out the scratch off tickets or let everyone come up and get one. I said make sure you mention the theme of our favors “for richer or for poorer”. He commented back about how it was cool and clever and I told him I got the idea off Pinterest. I left at that point to go and take pictures. We were gone maybe an hour but we had a dj, a photo booth and we already greeted each of our guest at their tables. There was nothing left to do but party the night away. After we finished taking pictures by the water, I was zooming back to the building so I could get back to the reception. I bypassed all my guest outside thinking they were just hanging out outside(the bar was outside and the outdoor games we brought). Once I entered the building my friend asked where have I been and that she thought we left. I told her that we were taking pictures and let’s just go dance. I walked into the ballroom and its like the room stood still...ALL OF OUR GUEST WERE GONE. The decorations were being broken down and DJ GARY WAS PACKING UP THE UPLIGHTING rolling the cords up in his arm. I was sooo confused because it’s so early. Then some of our friends from outside came in to give us hugs, congratulations, and goodbyes. With each person that hugged me, I got more sad because just last year I partied the night away at their weddings. We spent so much money and here it is 8:30, and everyone is leaving. I asked my husband to go see if Gary passed out the scratch off tickets and a moments later he was walking back to me with a stack of 150 scratch off tickets in his hand. He told me that Gary said he forgot. So there’s another $150 wasted on scratch offs. I was trying to not let everything get to me, we still have the DJ for another 2.5 hours but then the venue cut all the lights on thinking that the reception was over because of course that’s how it appeared...and then that’s when I lost it. I ran off in tears. My groomsmen hyped me back up and we went to a club in full wedding attire and parties until 2am. I had a blast. This should’ve just been the original plan. The music/ dj is the single most important part of a reception. It’s a huge deal and it was a complete FAIL. Dj Gary did not mention to my guest that we were off to take pictures and would be back soon...causing everyone to think that we left. Also from what I heard from family and friends who were there is that they hustled to one song in the beginning and that his music selections never got the people back on the floor and that only the kids were dancing. So after an hour of an empty dance floor and not many guest left in the room, they started to break down the decorations and assume the night was over. I want a do over so bad but you only get married once, right?
