Luxury Event Space in Downtown Concord
The 1780 House is an art gallery and event venue located in the heart of Concord, MA. Named for the year the building was initially constructed, this former private residence has been at the center of the Concord community for centuries, a vibrant legacy that carries on today. Lovingly refurbished and transformed into a destination for art and culture, 1780 House offers a creatively inspiring setting for rehearsal dinners and other wedding-related events.
Renowned philosopher Henry David Thoreau and his family once called the 1780 House home. Abraham Lincoln's inauguration bodyguard, John Shepard Keyes, also lived in the house for a time. This historical journey inspired every aspect of the current owner's renovation process, as they strove to preserve the charm and character of the house while also making it a space where all could gather and appreciate art. They are proud of the finished product and enjoy welcoming people from Concord and beyond to celebrate their special events and experience the magic of the 1780 House. The property boasts two distinct spaces that can be used for private celebrations. The Gallery on the first floor is an open-concept, light-filled venue that can accommodate cocktail parties, dinners, and other occasions with ease. There is also a cozy Boardroom on the second floor for intimate rehearsal dinners and other gatherings. At capacity, the house can accommodate up to 48 standing guests and up to 30 seated guests, making it ideal for those who want to celebrate with their nearest and dearest.
The 1780 House team is committed to providing a stress-free planning experience for every couple who hosts their rehearsal dinner or party at the house. They collaborate with several local catering vendors who can design a bespoke menu for any gathering. The house is also equipped with tables, chairs, and other equipment, available to couples as part of their venue rental package. At 1780 House, community, history, and festivity flourish.
