If I could give more stars I would!! My wedding and reception were perfect. Their motto is “no boring receptions” and they delivered! The dance floor was packed with everyone from teens to 60 year olds. Devail and Nikki were professional and friendly throughout the entire process. Book them! They are the best of the best!

We cannot express enough about how much we enjoyed having Devail and Nikki as our DJ duo for our wedding! They most certainly delivered on their promise of No Boring Receptions and has us and our friends dancing all night! They guided the ceremony and reception with ease, and handled any time hiccups that came up without any fuss, making it a less anxious time for all. The planning suite they use is extremely easy to navigate and set s everyone up for success leading up to the big day! A little something that stood out: Our pastor that officiated our wedding is retired and had not done a wedding in 6 years, and it was the first one he had done without his wife of 57 years there with him. Devail and Nikki took time out of their busy schedule to share some video footage with our pastor so that he could show his wife. Talk about making it a personal experience!! They did this sort of thing throughout the whole process of working with them. We know this is a long review, but long story short, We cannot recommend their services enough. HIRE THEM!!!!

Can't say enough great things about 196 events! They did a great job at our wedding and we've received SO many compliments from our guests about the DJ!!! They kept the party alive and were very easy/professional to work with! You won't regret using 196 events if you are planning an event in the Hampton Roads area!!!

Devail and Nikki from 196 Events were so amazing. They truly brought the party and the entire dance floor was full all night long! We met with Devail over the phone about 2 weeks before our wedding to confirm everything we had previously discussed, and he assured me I had nothing to worry about with the music and boy was he correct! There were a few songs that I did not know what to choose for such as processional for bridesmaids and he picked out the perfect one! We could not be more thankful for both of their hard work on our special day for entertainment!

196 Events is an EASY 5-stars. I am very particular about music and how it can make or break an environment, and Devail and Nikki were right there with me. They know what they're doing and that's what you want when you're booking your DJ. Not only do they know what they're doing, but they're fun, approachable, and felt like friends. This duo goes above and beyond to really make you feel special on your wedding day. For example, during our last dance, I asked Nikki to hold my phone. Without me even asking, she took it upon herself to record our dance for me on it. (If you're reading this Nikki, I will ALWAYS remember that <3). That is what takes these two above and beyond. They're one step ahead the entire time, and it was so reassuring to have that on a day where so much is happening so fast. And they are truly thinking of the couple above all else. Lastly, these two have so many extra add-ons with their service! We had the photobooth, but they just recently got a new Audio Guest Book, which we LOVED. That was so cool and a huge recommendation. All in all, 196 is knowledgeable, affordable, and FUN. A must-book at your wedding!!

Working with Devail and Nikki was amazing! They are a great couple and understood what we wanted for our wedding on 2/10/24 at the Historic Post Office. Devail & Nikki are the best! They are super professional and sweet! I hired them as our DJ for my husband's and I wedding this past July. Their website that they use for wedding planning was user friendly and seamless. Planning with them was super easy! They definitely understood the assignment when it came to the music selections, they had the best judgement on the type of vibe and music I wanted for our reception. I had a mix of older and younger people at my wedding and 196 Events did a great job of combining new and old R&B/Hip-Hop music for everyone to dance to! Everyone at my wedding raved how much fun they had during the reception. I could not stop dancing all night! I could not recommend them enough! Why I chose them From their website to their Instagram videos, they are 100% about creating a great party for your wedding. It was very clear they throw great parties for all ages/musical tastes and seemed to really enjoy being a part of your celebration. They are very confident vendors and seemed just as excited for my wedding as I was. Why I am glad I did They 1000% killed it for my wedding. Leading up to the wedding, they have a few questionnaires and a very easy to use music selection sheet that helps them design your best reception. I was totally overwhelmed (seriously get a wedding planner) and didn’t utilize these planning tools as much as I could have. But that didn’t matter, they took what I gave them and brought the music! Even with little input from me, they threw a GREAT party. They read my crowd and kept the energy high. They also took a few videos of some unique moments which was a great addition to our photographs. One of the best decisions of my wedding planning was hiring Nikki and Devail! You will not be disappointed if you select 196 Events for your big day!

“No boring reception” is an understatement! Music was one of the most important aspects for our wedding. We love to dance and so do our family and friends so finding a DJ that will deliver was incredibly important to us. Devail & Nikki were incredible from the first phone call. They listened to our vision and promised they would deliver and deliver they did. Their planning suite was a helpful tool and being able to use that for our planning was a huge help. We had a phone call nailing down the final details a week before the wedding which went fantastic. Our wedding could not have been more perfect! Devail stuck to our playlist and had everyone on the dance floor all night! The mixing of songs was awesome. Any tweaks we needed they delivered. What stood out to me the most besides the epic entertainment was we had a last minute change of who was going to be doing the welcome speech. Devail took it upon himself to track down my uncle (in a family of over 70ish people) without having a clue who he was and succeeded. INCREDIBLE! Above and beyond are the best words to describe 196 Events! It is so abundantly clear how much they care about their clients and we could not have been more happy. We hired 196 Events for our wedding and they absolutely killed it!! They were punctual, communicative, professional but also so friendly. I was a little nervous with Devail not being familiar with Latin music and with half of our guest being Spanish speakers but I filled out their planning forms with some of of my families favorite songs and he did an amazing job! They were both so prepared, helpful and I would definitely recommend again!! I want to throw another party just to hire them again!

I cannot speak highly enough about Nikki and Devail. When we found them on Instagram and had our first meeting, we had a great feeling about them. They were so kind and made an exception to travel to our venue in Pembroke, VA (5+ hours!!) and we could not have been more thankful. They made themselves available to us prior to the wedding and helped keep us on track with planning. On the big day, they were absolute rock stars. Devail killed it with the music and Nikki was an absolute angel, checking in with us to make sure we were happy. Nikki also took some amazing videos of our guests dancing!! We also opted to have a photo booth set up by 196Events and that was also so much fun! I am not exaggerating when I say our guests were coming up to us after the wedding RAVING about Nikki and Devail and saying how much fun they had. I also want to mention that my father and I did a breakout dance, and Devail was the one to help us clean up our song mix and make it exactly what we wanted. What a wonderful experience!!! We are so happy with all the personal touches of song choices as well being so easy to work with in the planning stages. Very professional and quick to respond to questions and concerns.

Nikki and Devail were a dream team and power couple! I first met with NIkki to discuss their DJ and Photobooth package and from our initial meeting her excitement was infectious! We picked our vendors based off of the feeling they gave us and I knew immediately I wanted her energy there for our day! We had a unique dinosaur themed wedding and not only did they embrace it but they also were excited and worked hard to bring it to life. This included adding in non-traditional songs (Jurassic Park Theme Song) to adjusting our photobooth template to add dinosaurs. Devail provided music at the ceremomy and a mic for our officiant. He then provided music for cocktails and dinner and kept the party going for the reception. Nikki manned the photobooth, which our guests thoroughly enjoyed, especially being able to make gifs (who knew that was even a thing?!). You also get a link after with all of the photobooth pictures which was so fun to look through! Overall I can't thank them enough for helping with our special day!

Nikki and Devail are absolutely incredible and they made our reception incredibly fun. We hired them for our ceremony, reception and the photo booth. They came through like gold on everything. I first saw their work at a few friends' weddings and it was apparent that over the years they've remained fantastic at what they do. They offered a number of pre-wedding calls which were fun and pleasant. They helped us customize our photo booth templates and even ensured that we as the couple got in the booth before the night was over. No matter what we had planned as a couple, they were able to handle and deliver. I truly got to enjoy a day that I had only imagined because of them. I would over and over recommend them for any event, especially if you're looking for it to be fun and memorable.
