196 Events was truly so amazing for our wedding day, and no post will ever be able to show just how deep our gratitude for them goes! We got married at Seven Springs on May 2, 2026...
, and everything about our big day was a dream come true. During the planning process, Nikki and Devail were always available to help us answer questions, and their meetings were incredibly helpful in making sure our timeline went as smoothly as possible on the day of. Also, they used the "Vibo" app for planning purposes, which was super user friendly and really made this process one of the easiest things we did during wedding planning. We also had so much fun listening to music and picking out songs for the big day, so it was definitely the most fun part of our wedding planning journey! All of that being said, the wedding day and the reception were truly EPIC. 196 Events definitely delivered on their motto of "no boring receptions," and we still have people raving about how awesome of a party we threw to celebrate our love, thanks to Nikki and Devail. The wedding ceremony music and cocktail hour went off without a hitch, and Devail did a stellar job MCing our reception. He and Nikki moved the reception, dinner, and speeches along fantastically, making sure everyone was engaged throughout the night. Additionally, when the time for the real party came, EVERYONE was on the dance floor during the reception. The music Devail played was amazing, the lighting was perfect throughout the evening, and we lost our voices that night screaming words to our favorite songs surrounded by our favorite people. Nikki and Devail were also constantly reading the room and the energy of the crowd, and were so sweet, fun, and friendly on our wedding day. We were so BLESSED to have 196 Events for our wedding, and brides and grooms, if you want the best day and night of your lives to be your wedding day, you HAVE to consider booking with 196 Events!!!!
Devail did amazing as our wedding DJ! We did not want to be to involved in picking music or a playlist, we really wanted a DJ who could understand the vibe and the personality of t...
he two of us and run with that. He absolutely delivered!! My husband and I have two very different preferences when it comes to music, he blended them perfectly and all we had to give him was the general genres and some songs we both liked and he took it and ran with it. It was absolutely the best dance party we both have ever had. His wife was lovely to speak with before our wedding and work with on the back end, we love that they are a family duo. We highly recommend using him as your wedding DJ and trusting him.
We just had our wedding this past weekend at The Gala 417 Events and 196 Events was AMAZING! They made it so easy to prep in advance; we were able to provide our song selections, l...
ogistics, and preferences using an online app. The day itself was perfect! We booked 196 Events as a DJ and had their photobooth. They were so professional and fun, and the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and speeches went beautifully. Devail even easily adjusted when we threw a couple of audibles at him.
AND THEN THE DANCE FLOOR!!!!! People were having a blast and I don't think my husband and I stopped dancing. Song order, transitions, and choices were seamless and kept everyone going. The photobooth was also a huge hit with people and made a great favor. I cannot recommend them enough for your wedding or other event!
I LOVE them! Our wedding reception was amazing, thanks to them. They didn’t just play music…they helped with the flow of everything. Nikki was more hands on than I expected her to ...
be, and Devail just rolled with whatever was thrown at him! Definitely want to hire them again…just have to find an event to plan lol
We hired 196 Events for our wedding, and Devail and Nikki were truly one of the best decisions we made. From day one, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect...
. They walked us through the planning process, helped us organize every detail, and made everything feel smooth and stress-free.
As a couple, they bring amazing energy! They’re professional, friendly, and genuinely fun to be around. They kept the vibe upbeat and made sure our guests were having a great time from start to finish.
They did an amazing job incorporating music from both my culture and American music to reflect my husband’s side. They absolutely nailed the music for our cultural ceremonies and dances, which meant a lot to us and our families. The transitions, timing, and attention to detail were all spot on!
And I loved that they captured behind-the-scenes videos throughout the day, which was such a fun surprise while we waited for our professional photos! We got to see moments that we weren’t there for and it was amazing.
We had a fantastic experience working with them and would absolutely hire them again for future events. WE LOVE THESE TWO!
196 Events- Devail and Nikki made my wedding. They brought such a great energy to the day. Between the mix of music and how Devail does all of his announcements the guests were hyp...
ed up the entire night. Lets not forget the photo booth ran by Nikki. They had so many options for photo booth customizations and then a lot of props for guests to use and was a hit all night. I can not recommend this team enough and thank you for making my wedding the best day ever.
My husband and I got engaged in 2023 and we wanted a laid back, relaxed wedding that was relatively stress free. We picked a venue that handled most of the things (catering, most o...
f the decorations, etc) but we were getting a little stressed about picking vendors. Luckily, the venue had 196 Events on their preferred vendor list. We had a consultation with them and from the second we started talking, we knew they were the DJ/MC for us.
From their fantastic planning app to the consistent communication, they made planning our reception a breeze! We were able to plan out all the music for the night (and the songs we didn't want played), so when the reception day came, my husband and I only had to worry about showing up.
During the reception, they were able to pick out songs that matched the vibes smoothly and get the crowd going when introducing everyone. Also, I may be biased but I don't think I've ever seen so many people dance at a wedding before. We also got the photo booth option they offer and that was a big hit with the guests as well.
They were also extremely flexible. We decided to cut the cake earlier than we originally planned and end the reception a little early bc of extenuating circumstances. At first, I felt very guilty and nervous that it would be an issue but they were able to make the change in an instant and seem like it was part of the original plan all along.
I would get married to my husband a billion times just to have 196 Events DJ/MC our event again and couldn't recommend them enough!!
196 events made our wedding so special. When we met with them the first time, they immediately gave off good vibes. They made the planning process easy and had us download a specia...
l app in which we could easily select all the music for our wedding and outline the order of events. And in the leadup to the big day, they were sensitive to our stress and went out of their way to make things easier.
During the reception, they absolutely delivered on their promise of no boring receptions. They managed the event flawlessly, played all the music we wanted, and made sure to check in with us throughout the night. Many of our guests even commented at how great the DJ was!
196 Events was awesome to work with, and we would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for DJ services! They were extremely communicative and responded to every random question ...
we had very promptly. I don’t think there were any issues all night with the microphones or music–everyone was audible and the music was great! I was very particular about what songs I wanted to have playing everywhere other than the dancing part of the reception, and they were able to play the songs I wanted and then find fun songs to encourage dancing during the reception! The website/app they use to help plan out the wedding timeline and associated music/mic needs was super easy to use and made it easy to keep everything straight. Devail and Nikki were both very, very kind people, and very fun and easy to work with! We also used their photo booth services, which was super fun for both us and our guests. We got all of the pictures sent to us digitally also, which have been a blast to look back through. And on top of ALL of that – they also worked with my now-husband to help him sing and play a surprise song for me on a keyboard! Nikki and Devail, thank you both so much for helping to make our wedding such a fun and memorable experience!!

t transitioning songs/ doing all the different cues from the ceremony to the reception. He also really knew how to hype up our guests which made a big difference! And Nikki took some special videos of everyone dancing which was super nice to have. After our wedding, so many of guests told us how much they loved the dj and how well they did. I would highly recommended hiring them!! You will not be disappointed, I can’t thank them enough for being a part of our day

has us and our friends dancing all night! They guided the ceremony and reception with ease, and handled any time hiccups that came up without any fuss, making it a less anxious time for all. The planning suite they use is extremely easy to navigate and set s everyone up for success leading up to the big day!
A little something that stood out: Our pastor that officiated our wedding is retired and had not done a wedding in 6 years, and it was the first one he had done without his wife of 57 years there with him. Devail and Nikki took time out of their busy schedule to share some video footage with our pastor so that he could show his wife. Talk about making it a personal experience!!
They did this sort of thing throughout the whole process of working with them. We know this is a long review, but long story short, We cannot recommend their services enough. HIRE THEM!!!!
Can't say enough great things about 196 events! They did a great job at our wedding and we've received SO many compliments from our guests about the DJ!!! They kept the party alive...
and were very easy/professional to work with! You won't regret using 196 events if you are planning an event in the Hampton Roads area!!!
We had a great experience with Devail & Nikki at 196 Events! They were communicative, friendly, and great to work with. Would recommend!

efore our wedding to confirm everything we had previously discussed, and he assured me I had nothing to worry about with the music and boy was he correct! There were a few songs that I did not know what to choose for such as processional for bridesmaids and he picked out the perfect one! We could not be more thankful for both of their hard work on our special day for entertainment!
Absolutely amazing! We had the best experience because the music was so GREAT! Devail and Nikki go beyond to make the night about YOU! So incredible, glad to have had them on our s...

196 Events is an EASY 5-stars. I am very particular about music and how it can make or break an environment, and Devail and Nikki were right there with me. They know what they're d...
oing and that's what you want when you're booking your DJ. Not only do they know what they're doing, but they're fun, approachable, and felt like friends.
This duo goes above and beyond to really make you feel special on your wedding day. For example, during our last dance, I asked Nikki to hold my phone. Without me even asking, she took it upon herself to record our dance for me on it. (If you're reading this Nikki, I will ALWAYS remember that <3). That is what takes these two above and beyond. They're one step ahead the entire time, and it was so reassuring to have that on a day where so much is happening so fast. And they are truly thinking of the couple above all else.
Lastly, these two have so many extra add-ons with their service! We had the photobooth, but they just recently got a new Audio Guest Book, which we LOVED. That was so cool and a huge recommendation.
All in all, 196 is knowledgeable, affordable, and FUN. A must-book at your wedding!!

lanning was user friendly and seamless. Planning with them was super easy! They definitely understood the assignment when it came to the music selections, they had the best judgement on the type of vibe and music I wanted for our reception. I had a mix of older and younger people at my wedding and 196 Events did a great job of combining new and old R&B/Hip-Hop music for everyone to dance to! Everyone at my wedding raved how much fun they had during the reception. I could not stop dancing all night! I could not recommend them enough! I would definitely hire them again if I ever had another event, Devail and Nikki did not disappoint! Thank you both so much!
Why I chose them
From their website to their Instagram videos, they are 100% about creating a great party for your wedding. It was very clear they throw great parties for all ages/...
musical tastes and seemed to really enjoy being a part of your celebration. They are very confident vendors and seemed just as excited for my wedding as I was.
Why I am glad I did
They 1000% killed it for my wedding. Leading up to the wedding, they have a few questionnaires and a very easy to use music selection sheet that helps them design your best reception. I was totally overwhelmed (seriously get a wedding planner) and didn’t utilize these planning tools as much as I could have. But that didn’t matter, they took what I gave them and brought the music! Even with little input from me, they threw a GREAT party. They read my crowd and kept the energy high. They also took a few videos of some unique moments which was a great addition to our photographs. One of the best decisions of my wedding planning was hiring Nikki and Devail!
You will not be disappointed if you select 196 Events for your big day!

deliver was incredibly important to us. Devail & Nikki were incredible from the first phone call. They listened to our vision and promised they would deliver and deliver they did. Their planning suite was a helpful tool and being able to use that for our planning was a huge help. We had a phone call nailing down the final details a week before the wedding which went fantastic. Our wedding could not have been more perfect! Devail stuck to our playlist and had everyone on the dance floor all night! The mixing of songs was awesome. Any tweaks we needed they delivered. What stood out to me the most besides the epic entertainment was we had a last minute change of who was going to be doing the welcome speech. Devail took it upon himself to track down my uncle (in a family of over 70ish people) without having a clue who he was and succeeded. INCREDIBLE! Above and beyond are the best words to describe 196 Events! It is so abundantly clear how much they care about their clients and we could not have been more happy. Thank you Devail and Nikki from the bottom of our hearts for making our vision into a reality!
