I'm AJ Smith, the heart and energy behind 1Wave DJs. Music has been my life since before I was 10, taking private lessons as a percussionist and never looking back. After proudly serving in the US Navy, I honed my skills at Mesa Community College, earning a Certificate in Audio Production Technologies. I've been backstage with legends — working as a stagehand for Elton John, Lady Gaga, and Diana Ross — and sharpened my craft as a lighting and sound technician at the renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts. When I launched 1Wave DJs, my mission was simple: deliver unforgettable entertainment that packs dance floors and exceeds every expectation. I pour that same passion into every wedding, making sure couples feel like stars on their big day. Next year marks 5 years of creating epic celebrations — and it's all for you. Born and raised in the Philippines, Cathy Baliuag brings a warm, heartfelt approach to every wedding she captures. With years of experience photographing celebrations across cultures, she has a genuine passion for freezing those fleeting, special moments — the tear during vows, the laughter on the dance floor, the quiet glance between newlyweds — that make each day unique. At 1Wave DJs, Cathy serves as our lead photographer, seamlessly blending her talent with our high-energy DJ services. She has photographed dozens of weddings, from intimate Northern Michigan lakefront ceremonies to vibrant Arizona desert celebrations, as well as club events and corporate gatherings where lighting and movement demand quick, creative responses. Her natural eye for emotion and detail ensures every gallery tells a complete, joyful story that perfectly complements the music and energy of the night. Beyond the camera, Cathy has a true artistic gift for crafting personalized keepsakes. She hand-designs and creates custom mugs, shirts, tumblers, and other merchandise, turning favorite wedding photos into everyday treasures that couples and their families love to use and display for years to come.
