We had a great experience with 2nd Mile Coffee at our office event. They were incredibly easy to work with, responsive, reliable, and very professional from start to finish.
The coffee itself was excellent and a big hit with our guests, and the setup added such a nice touch to our space. The team was friendly, efficient, and created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that really elevated the overall experience.
What really stood out was how much they brought that true café feel to our office. There was a wide variety of drinks to choose from, including classic espresso options and more fun specialty drinks, so everyone found something they loved. They also offered teas and iced options, which was a nice bonus. Also, the cookies and pastries they served were absolutely delicious and such a great addition.
Shelby was especially great to work with. She really took the time to understand our needs and tailored the experience to fit our budget. We genuinely felt like we got more than we expected, which made the whole experience even better.
Overall, they went above and beyond to make the experience feel special and thoughtfully put together. We would definitely recommend them for any event!

Based in Simi Valley, CA, 2nd Mile Coffee Company is an artisan beverage catering business specializing in hand-crafted espresso, matcha, and chai-based drinks for wedding days and other special events. It is run by husband and wife team Joshua and Shelby Cadena. Our motto is "Pursue excellence!" and it is rooted in the origin of the name 2nd Mile Coffee.
The name of the company comes from the Bible in Matthew 5:41: "If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles." This is something Jesus says based on an old custom where soldiers could ask citizens they came across to carry their pack, and that citizen, by law, had to walk with them and carry their pack for at least one mile. However, Jesus uses this custom as a way to demonstrate how people shouldn't only do what is required of them, even if it is forced. They should go above and beyond to help their fellow man because this is a more loving and selfless way to live. So instead of only going the obligatory one mile, carry their pack for two miles and be more kind to them than they would ever expect.

In addition to catering, 2nd Mile Coffee provides industry-leading Barista Training for those who want to learn the science and art behind making espresso drinks. From understanding what coffee beans to purchase to latte art, everything is broken down and demonstrated in the first half of the training. The other half cements the knowledge through hands-on experience with our trainers.

Meet the team
- Joshua CadenaCo-Owner & Lead TrainerJoshua has been working with coffee for over 10 years. He has learned nearly every method of coffee making from French press to espresso and is highly knowledgeable in the logistics of each method. His passion for the traditional Italian espresso drinks came about in 2021 when he became the store lead for a local Italian pastry shop. He quickly rose through the ranks and became the only person other than the native Italian owners to be allowed to change the grind settings for the espresso grinders. From there he consulted with a local church on the building of their own coffee shop, from concept through construction to completion, and now is turning his attention to his own dreams. He is seeking to bring his experience and pursuit of excellence into the community through catered events and training and thoroughly enjoys making people smile through the cups of joy he creates.
